Undoubtedly the best movie was Azhagi. A very natural movie dealing with human emotions and relationships. Great BGM score to complement it.

Run was the best Commercial/masala/entertainer. Had great songs by VS.

My suggestions are "Azhagi" and "Kannathil Muthamittaal." But for best movie, I would have to go with "KAASI."

Hi ,
In my point of view, 'Azhagi', Kannathil Muthamittal' and 'Paandavar Boomi'are the three best movies of 2002. All three are equally good and well dealt with human emotions and relationships.

I think Azhagi came last year. It won NA for SS.

So KM is in the fray...it is not a bad bet either.

Hi , My choice are Azhagi, Ramana, KM.. in that order. My methodology of selection is based on Sathyajit Ray's Scale of ranking a movie...i.e. "the less the error.. the best the movie"... of course on top of these scaling, there is aesthetic and other values which can never be scaled...So, No Doubt, Azhagi is the best.

Azhagi was one of the best Tamil Industry had seen since Sethu. Azhagi is the one (Although Thangar Bachan should mind his tongue). Bieng from Sri Lanka I really thought Kannathil Muthamittaal was the worst from Maniratnam since Dilse, So KM would join my worst top SIX (FROM THE TOP ACTORS,DIRECTORS & PRODUCERS.

Vaali,

Being from Srilanka cant make your judgement right pal. I hear this shitt all the time that KM is a trash. But Mani did something great which noone else and i dunno what you think of the movie or the now-boring dialogue accents mani keeps in his movie...KM has a tight script and strong charectorization. In an interview he said he had 2 guys from northern srilanka with him all along the movie to guide him. Even in Toronto Film Festival it recived wide recognition and was rated 4 * ( out of 5) movie.

I may not be right but i couldnt be very wrong :)

Run was good movie to watch this year. No over sentiments and even with its weak story line it managed to keep you interested. The songs were well picturised and all of the actors gave a wounderful performances. I think quite a few people liked the stunt scenes as well. A good time pass. Shwetha are you satisfied now.

can u specify the scenes.Moreover,even if the movie had touches of various hollywood movies,
I think the director needs to be lauded for emerging victorious with such a risky theme like
that of Ramana's.That too after a useless film
like Dheena,Ramana was a pleasant surprise.

There are so many positive aspects in the film
which are praiseworthy.
One thing for sure is that Murugadoss has a long way to go in tamil cinema.This victory is just the

Kannathil Muthamittaal. Check it out maaaaaaaan. Mani Ratnam makes a movie about unrest in a country.. and the country finds peace after ages.. superstitions apart, KM definitely is the best movie made in 2002.

Maniratnam made a movie about unrest in another country(sri lanka),but A.R.Murugadoss dealt with an issue that has been existing in Indian politics and society right from the word go.The problem of bribery exists in almost each and every field of day to day life.It is the inherent
social and political evil in the society.There have been attempts made by tamil cinema in the recent past regarding this issue like citizen,samurai etc. but RAMANAA stands out as the best attempt.I have absolutely no doubt that Ramanaa is the best of 2002 which is the verdict of people all around Tamilnadu.

Kannathil Muthammital was a brilliant film - it dealt with peoples emotions very well. However the 19 years of civil war in Sri Lanka did not end because of the movie Kannathil Muthammital if dats what your trying 2 say!?

I saw a posting that srilanka turned peaceful
after kannathil muthamittal was released.So I said
it's nothing but a joke.SL hasn't turned peaceful yet.I don't know what was (vazhishal) in it.
I only said Ramanaa is the best movie of 2002.The story was handled well and all technicians did their jobs to perfection in the film.That's it.Let's wait and see if it gets any national award or not.I never degraded KM in any of my postings.

Agreed that KM was a masterpiece in showcasing the "Struggle" but come on Films haven't gone to the point to make world leaders decide their fate watching them.( atleast I f***in hope not!)

I dont know what your chatting about - I never said that KM changed "Sri Lankan Ethnic Politics". If you actually read my post before making 'sweepin statements' then maybe you'll see that I was putting across a point to Are Yaar that the "19 years of civil war in Sri Lanka did NOT end because of the movie Kannathil Muthammital". In the end it turned out that Are Yaar was joking about what he said. So it looks like your the one making ridiculous comments!
