What's keeping Unni Menon from deserved attention in TFM?

Unni Menon is not new to TFM. I hear IR introduced him as Vijay, and we have heard ARR use him in some catchy tunes...Manamadhurai Maamarakilaiyilae, Pudhu Vellai Mazhai, and Naetru Illaatha Maattram. But hearing UM in "Poongaatrilae" from "Uyirae", I noticed a startling improvement in his pronunciation and the never before noticed (at least by me)fluency in hitting all the notes. This man has a great romantic voice, like an equal mix of Jayachandran and Yesudas. "Poongatrilae" could be compared with KJY's classic "Kattrinilae perum kaatrinilae". I wish UM will get all the songs in a movie to showcase his lovely voice. I would like to explore why he hasn't made it big.

  i think unnimenon is a good singer and has a good romantic voice but still he is not at all recommended by our famous music directors and i think its a coccus that more famous singers are not allowing any good artist to enter in to this field. that's why he lost his chances in malayalam. moreover malayalam music directors are not at all interested in a change ie, a change in the voice. that is mainly created by cassete distribution companies. they will suggest who has to sing and all. this nature has to change in the coming years otherwise singers like unnimenon and many other good singers won't get a honourable position in this field. for that music directors should come forward to change this situation.

  I too agree that U-menon has a wonderful voice & he is not given opportunities which he has to be...
  Moreover U-krish may be having very good voice, As per me, he is not so qualified for the fame what he had received. (I am not criticising him). But he has to develop himself to withstand in that position, what he achieved.

  Yes. Unni Menon is a very good singer. I like his songs. But, the fact is that he is not getting the recognition he deserves, even in Malayalam, where people like MG Sreekumar, whose voice and style are boring and unpleasant to the ears, are acclaimed. UM's voice is sweet. Style is good. I even have a collection of his devotional songs. He deserves to be recognized.
