Hariharan-A Class Apart

I'm starting a new thread dedicated to Hariharan's versitility as a singer.
He is today ,by far the most wanted singer by the MD's.HIs golden voice got very late recognition after a very long period of 10-15 years.....but the good part is that he is now reaping the fruits of his efforts finally.
All his latest songs are big hits.
Here are a few Hariharan songs {in tamil movies} that I like.

Some other songs I like of his are from His album "Colonial Cousins"....

Hariharan has the uncanny ability to bring emotion(bhaavam) into his songs..which is what makes it great to listen to apart from the fact that it is rendered really beautifully,with due respect given to the gamakaas.

  Hai Rama (PANTHUVARALI RAGA) from "Rangeela"
  
  Mudhal Mudhalil Paarthen (KALYANI RAGA) is a very good song too, it's from "Aahaa".
  
  Nila Kayhirathu (Some Kalyani - Yaman/Yamuna/Hamir - I'm not sure what) from "Indra"

  Have you heard his Ghazals? I've got 5 of his albums and they are all fantastic.
  
  You are absolutely right about his voice, in my opinion, it's the best we've had in Tamil Music in a very long time. He is classically trained (his mother a fairly famous Singer) in both Carnatic and Hindustani music, hence his intense handling of Birrkas and gamakas.
  
  His Hindi songs are also wonderful, take a listen to 'Baahomse Dharmiya' from Kamokshi.
  
  Colonial Cousins was a revalation and truely deserved the MTV award it got.

  I have listened to Some of Hariharan's Ghazals too.I liked Jashn and Quaraar very much.
  
  I like Hai raama,and Nilayakaaygiradhu too.

  By the way, did you know that HARINI (she sang Nila Kayhirathu - the female version and Manam Virumbuthe from Nerukku Nerr) is the younger sister of Hariharan? She too has a great voice and very nice style. Yes, Konja Naal Poru from Aasai is an excellent song in AnandhaBairavhi. Anbe Anbe is also very good, he's added great Bhaavam to it and the poetry just flows from him. His Palgat accent is cute too. The Ghazals you mentioned are very good, I can't see wrong in this guy at all.....

  I started a thread on Hariharan last month as mentioned by Ravi. Good to meet some Hariharan fans. I am a die hard Fan of Hariharan. I have been listening to his voice for more than 10 years from now. I listen to his ghazals, what a voice. The first time I heard his voice in a movie was for Roja. Tamizha Tamizha. I have almost all the Ghazals sung by him. When he started to sing for TAmil movies, I wanted to collect all the Tamil songs that he sang. But he started singing so many songs these days that I am unable to keep track of all of them. I am happy that I atleast have almost all his Ghazals. I am planning to record the best Ghazals sung by him onto a 3 cassette set. In fact I have already started the process. Looking forward to hear from more Hariharan Fans

  Harini was supposed to a +2 student in Padma Seshadri when she sang 'telephone manipol' in Indian. And I am sure Hariharan is at least 40+. There seems to be too much of a age gap here.

  Have you heard 'OYVEDU OYEDU NILAVU' from the film Velai by Yuvan Shankar Raja? I definitely recommend it, it's a great song, beautifullly sung by Hari.....wish the female singer was not Bhavathaarani.
  
  The other really good new on is 'INTHA CHIRIPINNAI' from by Karthik Raja. He sings it very well, the North Indian Female singer is no where near his standard and murders the Tamil language.
  
  Also, take a listen to 'ANBE ANBE NEE EN PILLAI' from UYIRODU UYIRAAGA, MD is Vidhyasaagar - in Keeravani (There may be a Kapi touch in it - pls confirm). It's absolutely excellent, it sounds a lot like 'Bhoomiye' from Sengottai, but an MD is allowed to copy himself right? Also, using Hari has brought this song to dizzy heights, especially for Lovers everywhere.
  
  Harini is very young, true, but she is his sibling as far as I know, it was conveyed to me by someone in Sri Lanka. I'll try and re-check this. I guess I took it as being a sure thing, owing to their voice structure and style and the fact that she's being used by ARR, and started with ARR, as did Hari, in Tamil Films.
  
  By the way, Bhaskar, Anand also discovered that 'Ennai Thaalaata' was in Keeravani. I think it may have some accidentals though.....
