NO SONGS in Mani Ratnam's film

No songs in Mani’s film! NEW!

Mani Ratnam’s bilingual in Hindi and Tamil will not have any songs!

Mani- Rahman combination has always created excellent music but this time there will be no songs and instead Rahman will be giving a great background score for the film. And for the trailers to be shown on satellite channels there will be teaser songs.

The duration of this untitled film will be only 2 hours 15 minutes. The Hindi version is already complete with only a few scenes of Vivek Oberoi to be shot once he is back in action after the freak accident that happened in Kolkatta.

The Hindi version is likely to be titled Yuva and the Tamil Ayutha Ezhuthu. The Tamil version will now have Surya (Ajay Devgan in Hindi) , Madhavan ((Abhshek Bachchan in Hindi) and Siddharth (Vivek Oberoi in Hindi) along with Meera Jasmine, Simran and Trisha Krishnan.

The background for the Tamil version will be Chennai and Mani plans to release both the versions simultaneously in January 2004. Since there are no songs and the film is shot using sync sound (saves dubbing time) the work will be complete in less time.

  Rahman is not producing mature music for his own age and for mature stories. how long can manirathnam do childish stories and place childish songs and get away with it without making money at the box office?

  Sync sound - no dubbing.. uses DAT recorder- digital audio track and is recorded on DAT tapes. the tracks of dialogue are later cleaned and matched with the picture..
  
  when shooting sync sound ,an electronic clap board is used to help the sound recordist.
  
  Dil chahta Hai, Lagaan, Hey ram, Saathiya were all shot on sync sound.. ofcourse a few scenes are dubbed when the noise level is too much.. for eg. when one is shooting on a busy road, it is not always possible to get clear sound

  Speaker...
  cleaning the sound does not mean u can remove a voice and a particular sound...it just helps to reduce the noise..and so...makes the loudest sound clearer..
  
  so if a SYNC method used in location...it also records the air breezing sound, some cars in distance..or so...and they will clean up this kinda noises...which has be much lower than the sound they intend to record..that is why they cant use that if a recording was done near a traffic..as the traffic sound will definitely be louder than the actors or actresses voice...

  The best thing that has happened to tamil cinema is Mani's exodus from Raja and his association with ARR.
  
  This has only brought out another musical prodigy in TFM. Otherwise we would have been hearing only IR.

  This is kind of unfortunate for me. I was expecting ARR just to do the OST of the movie. Also when I heard Mani was using Sync sound I thought he was targeting Oscars since you have better chance in Oscars w/out songs. Also sync sound is a must for Oscars!

  And yes, the best thing that has happened to Raja is his exodus from Mani, KB, BR and Kathir. Because all these directors just ran out of their ideas and started giving flops continuously. In today's market, they are all zeros, so arr's music is enough for these guys.
  
  just FYI, for Iruvar mani approached ir, but ir refused to work. isn't it interesting? hahha
