There is an SPB-Janaki Duet in the film Guru - "Parandhaalum Vidamaataen." Could somebody please translate those foreign sounding words that Janaki sings (I am assured that it is the english language...) - I'd really appreciate it.

Yes, Raghu, you are right. There are two versions of the Devan Thandha Veenai song. The duet version was picturised in the film on Sujatha and Mohan (irandu medai padagargal - and the first song in the film.) The PJC solo was for Sivakumar, I believe.

Man, you're good at this. Now that song seems so much more meaningful! :-)
SPB's (when given an english phrase/line in a song - and there are many such moments in his career) eagerness always gets the better of him...The resulting effect is either comic or tragic (or siriththukonde azhugindraen?)

Has anyone mentioned "Kanmaniye Kaadhal Yendbadhu Karpanaiyo, Kaviyamo, Kannvaraindha Oviyamo?" from 6ilirundhu 60varai? One of IR-SPB-SJ's evergreen creations.
Another scintillating number by the same team, which haunts me to this day: "Nilavondru Kandaen Yen Jennalil" from Kairasikkaran? Absolutely fragrant!

Madhu -
When I scrolled up I came across your inquiry about the song" Aathu Mettule Oru Paattu Kekukudhu" -
That is a SJ-MVD duet from "Gramaththu Adhyayam" - music was IR. The same film had this other hit:
"Oodhakaathu Veesayile Kuyilu Koovayile" The film was directed by Rudraiyaa (Aval Appadiththaan fame) and was a thundering flop!! (superb music, though.)

Naaz, regarding "Gramathu Athiyaayam", there was one more good song in that movie. "Vaadatha Rosappoo" was a very good pathos no. by SPB.
- From: Naaz (@ 24.76.127.63)
on: Fri Apr 5 11:53:09 EST 2002
VGS - Vaadatha Rosapoo is a fine song. But it was badly picturised (which is the case with a lot of TFM) on Chandrahasan (apparently part of the Hasan clan.) He disappeared, without a trace, just like the movie!

Have these two duets made the list:
Mounamana Neram - Salangai Oli
Kanmaniye Pesu - Kaakichchattai
