Dear Friends,
I am starting this thread as of late I happen to hear people saying that "Raja is for Melody and Rahman is for Rhythm"! But in my opinion, Raja is the King of Everything! Because in Rhythm, He has done songs with rhythm instruments only like :
1)"Raja Rajadhi" - Agni Natchathiram
2)"Ilam Nenje Vaa" - Vanna Vanna Pookkal
etc.,etc., I would like to get more of His special rhythms! Please post relevant postings only!
NOTE : THIS THREAD IS FOR TFM FANS ONLY WHO KNOW RAJA'S HISTORY AND WHO DON'T MAKE ANY USELESS AND MISLEADING COMMENTS! PLEASE BE DECENT TOO!

Digression
This is the last time I am going to respond to queries regarding the name RaajaNGAHM.
1. RaajaNGAHM is not just a website. There are lots of things being initiated by RaajaNGAHM the effect of which we hope you would get to know soon.
2. The name RaajaNGAHM clearly defines the agenda we have in front of us. If you have problems with it, I'm sorry, the problem is not ours.
3. ilayaraja.com has not yet been acquired. It will be done soon, hopefully. Many other names have also been acquired. Typing any of these names will, like it or not, take you to http://www.raajangahm.com automatically.
4. If you have real, genuine concerns, please don't hesitate to send me an email.

hi arunachalam....
I guess what people are worried is that the name wouldn't reach people who dont understand tamil... Just now my friend from bombay saw the site...his first reaction was *WOW*...:)...but next statement was 'hey what is this ngahm'......I beleive you get it......if the site is for our raaja's global awareness ..it should be globally spellable pronouncable right!!!!....Anyway your point number 3 is acceptable...:-)...its better we catch hold of all names related to raja and redirect it to the main site.....what do you say????

BTW, do you have manasatchi?, Don't you have anyother job except kindal adichufying others.
This is a decent DF, if you still wanted to carryon with these kind of pranks, think for a minute of what you have achieved before kinduladichufying others.

The best song, IMO, for the rhythmic effect of trains is Chinna thaayaval from Dhalapathy.

Some Rare Songs:
1) Solai Ilanguyil - Kaavalukku Gettikkaaran
2) Pottu Vaitha - Singara Velan
3) Engirundho - Brahma
All these songs have fantastic transitions in rhythm and shoe the highest level of rhythm composition!
Yours,
Vijay.

I think IR's first film got missed out in the listing above...machchAnai has some awesome rhythm patterns & so is `suththa chambA pachcha nellu'!
And iLaya nilA has one of the best rhythm scores ever, IMO, with both the drums and guitar accompaniment!

Dear Friends,
I have a query - Raja has done a lot of songs which start with drums in the Pallavi and go into tabla in the saranam (Poomaalaiya Thaolserava,Sorgathin Vaasappadi, etc)! I am not talking about the interludes at all - Only Pallavi and saranam! I happened to sort only two songs which have table in the pallavi and drums in the saranam :
1)Paattu Thalaivan - Idhayakoil
2)Metti Oli - Metti
What I want is more songs in this type - Can anybody list out?
Yours Always,
Vijay.

In the song "Unnai than malai pola"from Irattai Roja, IR gives us an unusual pallavi. The first two lines are in a 14-beat cycle! the last line, rounding out the pallavi, is in 12 beats. This wonderful folk song is rendered beautifully by MV and Chitra.

There is one song which comes to my mind Vijay - "ponaavaNi poom, uththE" - It has drums in the pallavi and anupallavi (or I charaNam - whatever may it be). The second charaNam is in drums.

vijay....good topic...
according to me....every song..or any song which has to reach ones heart...should have a beat..a rhythm...[the rhythm may be silent even] but it will still be running....so melody and rhythm go hand in hand....Maestro Ilayaraja's songs have definitely both...
