IR must have atleast more than 200 movies having all songs were good. Could you guys please list out.

as per the title...all songs should be a very good one in IR's albums.

i picked just one movie out of random by going thru this thread...

Bhagyaraj movie.

I don't think all songs in this movie were a hit....especially the song....that is sung on top a bus...and also starts with bus something.....was terrible :-(

Guys:

The "Seno Rita" song in JOhnny could be a personal taste issue. Interestingly I did not like the song at first. But after listening it several times, especially after ignoring the first two lines of the lyrics, I found it to be a very fun and upbeat song to listen to. IR has used some "Wha Wha" unit (an electronic synth that modulates and produces a reverberating sound, can be very rhythmic when used correctly) with the violin and guitar to give some magical sounds. Such is the case in this song. In the first (or second? I'm not sure) interlude there is this magical violin, coupled with the "wha wha" unit producing a mesmarising effect. During the lyric stanzas there is this guitar in the background again coupled to the unit producing sounds that you usually find in hard rack music. These are the IR punches in that song.

'Senorita' is a wonderful song and I have to agree with Ravi and others. Its a song that just peps you up and SPB's rendition only increases the inherent feeling of joy present in the song.
The violin interludes are too good.

Digression:

IR scored for 'Johny' at Mahendran's absence. Mahendran it seems was not too pleased initially, but retained at the insistence of KRG international.(the producers). The same happened when IR scored for 'NAndu'. IR tuned some soulful solos for the film and Mahendran when returned back (Don't know from where????), insisted that IR record them again and hence two new songs (MV & UR songs) were recorded..

Thank god KRG international put their foot down, otherwise we might have missed those jems!!!!
Read it some where long time back.(How truthful this is, I don't know)

Nandu songs are wonderful. Too bad that the movie did not take off. Did that movie ever run in theatres ? I don't know. But look at this song, "Manjal Veyil..", especially the start. Guys somewhere were questioning about IR's symphonic composing talents. Just the start alone can be played, rewound, played, rewound and played for ever to listen to the wonderful symphonic orchestration by IR. I probably listened to that start over hundreds of times with amazement. Too bad IR just cut it off and let Uma Ramanan (singer?) start the first lines..If it could just repeated this stuff with some adjustments and fillings, it would make a world class symp.

The hindi song goes like 'Kaise Kahoon,Kuch Kehna Sakoon ....' by Bhupender & SJ. I used to like that songs but mostly my Hindi relatives put it down as a tamilish song. (Yeh! for them the RDB crap always was better!!!!!)

Like Manjal Veyyil, there is a similar song in "Panjami" - "Udhaya Kalame Nanaindha megame" sung by P.Suseela.

Vairamuthu's comment about this song:
"This was my first song for P.Suseela, initially I wrote different lyrics for that tune, after I came to know this is going to be sing by my favourite singer, then I have changed the lyrics in order not to give any harm to herself by my Tamil words".

There is another good song in that movie, sung by S.J, the song is "Pani Kaatrin Kulumai". But don't know about other songs.

Yes. As Balaji remarked, The hindi song is a very good number. Although it certainly catches you the first time you lister to it, you need to listen several times to note the subtleties, especially in the interludes. There lies the IR's style.

The "Alli thantha Bhoomi.." is also excellent. I think MV rendered it soulfully. These songs are sort of research/advanced styles, both in the background rhythm during lyrics as well as in interludes. IR probably is the only one to use Tabala in nontraditional ways. This song is a testament to that. You may not see it as tabala, unless/until someone tells you that it is! Because traditionally, Tabala has been used (as far as I know)with a standard rhythms and beats.

In my opinion, the best way to listen to these are just to ignore the lyrics (they are excellent too) and watch the instruments come and go periodically.. You can see patterns and creations of unexpected beats and scales (scale shifting of one instrument, fugue of different intruments and such and such..no need for a musical knowledge..just follow the patterns) of different intruments tangled in a magical way. You should pay intense attention to the details, tracking all the intruments as much as possible..I think you might find some new subtleties..A good audio system would help.

Just as an example, in "Manjal Veyil.." song, if you carefully watch, the song starts with this Veena and Piano going in different beats and scales with two different rhythems.., yet magically intertwined...Then after few seconds this fugue betwewen two chellos in Mozartic sytle..Folks too bad all this treat just ends in about 15 second, until the first interlude comes..!

since this list doesnt have albums like 'devar magan' ima not too sure if u could include album nos. 7,19,38 etc. there are some kuppai nos like 'un mela oru kannu jilalangadi oyi' in the album naan mahaan alla. i dont think it was a popular hit too.
