I always wondered how tamil music would have been in 80s if only IR wasn't there. Probably MSV and Sankar Ganesh must have been ruling. People like T.Rajendar and Chandrabose would be their competitors!! We would have had one forgettable decade in Music Industry!! Mouna Raagam music by M.S.Viswanathan!! Payanangal Mudivathillai probably would not have run 175 days. It would have been totally funny!!

TFm may or may not have been worse but Tamil films would have been better. production houses would not depend only on music to sell their half baked wares to the marked. So there would be no Motherland movies, no sunderrajan brand of movies-, Naan padum Paadu, Kungumachimizh- Vijaykanth would have vanished alongwith SA Chandrashekar after their crime movies ran out ( remember it was vaidehi Katirundaal which was Vijay Kanth's comeback vehicle), Kasturi Raaja & Raj Kiran may be doing their mite in other fields. We may not have to put up with Music director's photos in cinema posters.

If there was no IR in TFM then we wud be comparing MSV and ARR now and having fights in TFM DF as usual.
80's wud have had many MD's like now..no monotony..
Folk,BGM,WesternClassical and grand Orchestration might have never happened in TFM.

That is another topic to be discussed on how far IR's fame helped them to enter into TFM..
Totally if u add the positive and negative points of IR's part in TFM postive things exceed negative things left,right,centre and above..:-))

if there were no IR there might by some one else who wud have delivered same music. Remember IR himself has said that its not he who delivers the music its God who sends the music thru the channel called IR. Hence God would have chosen some other person to do that, could be an existing personality like MSV or a new personality X.

Appadiya, seriously do you believe in it.All of what you have told has been there in pre IR days too. This BGM business is utterly revolting.much has been said of this by me in previous threads. so I refrain from commenting further.

TFM would have innumerable number of Rasa Rosa songs.Vaali would have churned out more "Raja " songs.Raj Kiran s VESHTI would have revealed more and more of his "KODU POTTA DOWSER".Ramarajan would have acquired 51% of Lakme Lipstick Division.P Vasu would have indulged in cruder Thali sentimnents.

Snehidane would have been sung by IR himself as assareeri( ala Unkuthamma,enkuthamma).Yeah real funny!

None of these questions can have any definitive answers.

1) There wud have been no IR vs ARR :)
2) No historic battles in TFM.....RoTfL!
3) 700 odd films would have gone to some other MD :)
4) Kamal and Parthiban wud have lost a MD to patronise :)

:)

and now to serious matters!
1) Many films may not have run for that long as pointed out earlier
2) Many quality music tunes may not have been used
3) YSR,Bhavatharini,KR wudnt have been famous

IMO, the greatest thing would be a world without "HCIRFs!" :)
Anyway, nature abhors vacuum and surely someone else would have been there. It is not that India has insufficient talents.

Listen to the songs of 50s,60s,70s and 90s.Your comprehension about various stages of TFM seems to be NIL.

Look at the new entrant Saravanan with his phenomenal database for TFM.

TFM would have produced many talanted music directors like ARR and it would have achieved todays music standards about 10 or 15 years ago.

If IR had not been there, people would have thought great about the quality of ARR's songs. Thank god IR was there, so that we have a primary standard to to comprare the music of the likes of ARR, Deva, mani sharma etc etc etc

cheenu except a handful (here) everyone thinks great about ARR's songs till date, IR is simply regardless here. But one thing is sure, cheenu would have stayed 100% sane., if IR had not been around.
