Guys--
Since we are talking about the real jukebox now...
I thought I'd pitch in some G2 news.... Real Networks recently bought out XING Tech...one of the prime MPEG video and MP3 encoders manufacturer. The support for MPEG videos & MP3 will be improved significantly in G2 very soon.

Around next week I'll be starting a new 'Thirai Malar' section in RAAGA. Its a scene from 'Oru Kaidhiyin Diary'. I picked on this scene mainly b'cos of the BGM in it.
Thanks guys

Senthil,
is it a real video?
MS.,
May i know what you are trying to do?I am not familiar with the juke box.
Rex,
It was nice to see you back on this thread. Now we can be sure to see once in while popping up here.have fun!!!!
Anandaum,
I don't think it is possible to download all these songs cos they are .ram files.Which measn that they link to URL where the song is located rather than the actaul song.So you need to have internet connection at home to play the song.If there is anything you wuld like to know-please do post here.

Hi all. Nice idea going. Why don't you index the songs by their starting letters? That way, people who know what song they want, will know where to go - they need not necessarily know what year and all that. Once inside a particular starting letter, again you can index them by whatever category you want.
Shibu:
What's the javascript funda in your web site? Can't I download the files? I can't connect everytime to listen to songs - so I need to download them. How do I do that?
To all of you guys:
Can you tell me whether the following songs are available anywhere and if not, upload them?
1. Aye aathaa aathorammaa vaariyaa..
2. Manidha Manidha ini un vizhigal sivandhaal..
3. Tholvi nilai ena ninaithaal (OOmai vizhigal)
4. O Vasantha Raja (Neengal Kaettavai)
5. All Songs from Ninaivellaam Nithya, especially
a) Needhanae endhan pon vasantham
b) Rojaavai thaalaattum thendral
6. Tehndral vandhu ennai thodum
7. There mere beech me
I desperately want them - not imeediately though. I'll be glad if you guys could share the work and upload the songs.
Thanks
Prasanna.

Your high quality file was excellent. I encourage you to get more of them in the future.
Guys:
Raaga.com has great songs - but, can I download them? If I can, how do I?
Thanks
Prasanna.

Prasanna,
As I told Anandaum before--I don't think you will be able to download the songs into your HD and have it for private listeneing.Cos all songs are in .ram file.It will give you link to where the song is located only.
Regarding your songs list--I will try to provide the information soon if you can afford to wait.

Whoever wants to download real audio songs,
If you are using Netscape, then go to Edit->Preferences->Navigator->applications. In that find out the file type for .ram, .ra, .rm files. You will see realplayer.exe being associated as the application for them. Select it and click Edit button, just enable 'Ask before opening downloaded files of this type'. Now, whenever u click for playing a song (linked either to a .ram file or a .rm file rarely in some sites), it will download that .ram file or .rm/.ra file, ask you either to save it to disk or spawn it to realplayer. Say save it to disk. If the file is of type .rm/.ra, then cool, that is the audio file you always wanted. If it is a ram file, then open it in Notepad. You will see a list of URLs to .rm/.ra files. Copy them line by line, paste it in your browser. It will open up again that dialog for open/save. Say save, then u have it! If you have any doubts, pls mail me r_muralidharan@hotmail.com

Yes, G2 can play mp3. You may go to real.com to get the plug in.
Do not be bothered even if you are not able to listen to GURU mp3s. I'll soon host them with very good audio quality in the Real G2 in my page.

Murali,
It was a better explanation than mine. But I got confused with yours.I think what the surfers want is to download the entire song and keep it in thier HD as a cassette.I think this is impossible cos none of the website owners will allow this except for some guys like Raja Mohan.
If they save the .ram file--i think it is a URL link to that song and they need to have internet connection to access the song.
Am i right?
If not please do correct me!
MS,
I am eagerly waiting for the GURU songs in G2.
By the by could any of you guys me about the noise reduction stuff in goldwave.
Thanks in advance.

I have uploaded 5 songs.

Balaji,
You are correct! You will get the ram file only. But, it is only a text file. You can open it in Notepad. You will see something like:
http://members.tripod.com/mysite/song.rm
Just copy this text and paste it in your browser. It will download this song for you. Or else, I have written a small program in Java which will download all the songs listed in a ram file to a specified directory. If you want I can send it to you.

2) Kan Malargalin Azhaippidhazh [Thaip Pongal]
3) Mandhira Punnagaiyo [Mandhirap Punnagai]
4) Kaadhal Mayakkam [Pudhumaip Pen]
5) Pudhiya Poovidhu [Thenrale Ennai Thodu]
6) Azhagaaga Chirithadhu [???] -> high quality I believe.

Hi ppl:
About the downloading, I already have downloaded quite a number of songs (worth around 20 MB) from many of your sites - only where there is javascript and forms, there is trouble. About Netscape/Explorer, you just have to right click and Save Link/Target as... something. You'll save the file anyway - all the trouble of changing the settings is not necessary.
Balaji:
There's no hurry at all. It's just that these songs, I felt cannot be missed - each one is too good. I also thought of some more - I don't think I've encountered songs from "Idhayaththai Thirudaadhae". I'll keep giving these lists regularly.
Prasanna.
PS: BTW, how do you guys encode? What software do you use?
