Ravindran is a great musician

He has produced some really great music, especially in Malayalam. But I was wondering about some of his tamil ventures. I know he has some movies in tamil. I heard one and it was pretty good. The movie's name, I think, was called "Thaye Nee Thunai" or something like that. Anyone heard the music to this movie?

  Actually, in his recent works, Ravindran HAS set aside songs for Jayachandran. They are:
  
  Aarum Aarum-- Nandhanam
  Yekaakiyaam-- Ente Hrithyathinthe Udamaa
  Singaari-- Pakalpooram

  u are not correct ... i like old good old songs ..and there are a lot of bad songs in old times... in present there are a lot of good songs and bad ones ... still i like all the songs ...but old people try to say something to lift up and say old is gold ..new musics are copy of old ..thats not correct .. in the 90's there were a lot of good songs by illayaraja,reveendran,johnson,vidyasagar,ousepachan ... but there are a lot of bad composers in mallu ie:mohan sitara

  1.MELODY:Jayachandran is melody,i am ashamed of stating about such a great person that "JAYACHANDRAN IS
  HAVING MELODY ALSO".But yesudas now and then had it.
  2.RANGE:Jayachandran's 90% songs had this characteristic.Let me point out some songs which have some less range
  Ninpadangalil
  Nunakkuzhikavilil
  Bhoolokarambhayute
  Yesudas's songs have range but equally there are songs which don't have range.It is like 2 faces of a coin
  3.SPEED:There is no speed in yesudas's songs.Noone can show a speedy song sung by him.He tried to sing sometimes
  like
  pavataprayathil
  which have not succeeded since it resembles a conversation.
  Jayachandran is superb in speed.
  Take for eg the song
  pa pa pa pa pa nisa manohari
  ma ma ma ma ma vikaramanjari devasundari
  To pronounce it properly and sing it speedily yesudas is not at all perfect.Jayachandran was fully perfect.
  4.VIBRATIONS:Vibrations are made by both singers.Both are equally good in it.Jayachandran's
  vibrations in prayam nammil was beautiful.
  5.DEPTH:Jayachandran has much depth than yesudas.In depth yesudas is nil in front of jayachandran.Even in a simple
  padam like karivarivandukal kurunirakal in DEVARAGAM take the part "kaikalo-o-o-
  jalapushpavalayangalo-o-o-o-o"
  He has the depth there.In all songs this is coming into picture.As Ajith show above,yesudas was unable to maintain raaga
  
  
  at high pitches is About this aspect.
  6.SOFTNESS:Even now when he is not getting chances as yesudas he maintains the softness like the song
  Ariyathe ariyathe-e in RAVANAPRABHU.But Jayachandran is not the master of this it is Hariharan.But Yesudas is
  nothing in this,he is always noty soft.But some songs like Kattile pazhmulam thandil ghe approached it.Jayachandran and
  
  
  Hariharan are 2 good in it.
  7.VERSATILITY:Altogether more versatile is Jayachandran but due to luck yesudas was more famous.It does not mean
  that jayachandran is less versatile.He was not recognised as he should be.
  If Jayachandran was given more chances he would have shown up the world.But when politics or other pressure comes
  against a singer what the most versatile singer can do?
  That is why i consider him as most versatile.If he should have remained there in bollywood,he would have been famous
  like his students.
  Jayachandran is the most talented singer ever India had seen.

  no other singer in India has proven his ability in such diversified kinds of vocal singing!
  
  and nobody can match him in vocal characteristics mentioned above. Other singers may have the first 3 but not the other
  ones. Some other singers may have the last 3 but not the initial ones. There has not been a single singer in INdia that has

  i put nadanam as aver bec the best song in the album 'gopike''.... is similar to an old song sung by kjy and music by same reveebndran ,,...i think he might used the same ragam ..
  
  actually reveendrans best is from in the 80's to early 90's ...then he albums were averages except for 4 or 5 of them ...

  jibi, you have a point. You know, 'Sreela Vasantham' sounds like a rip-off of 'Vaishnavar Janato' (Hey Ram) in the pallavi. It's only listenable due to great orchestration.
  But what about other numbers in Nadhanam? How about 'Manasil', 'Karmugil Varanambhishaadi', 'Mouliyil Mazhi'? Do you not think of them as good? Are they also knock-offs of older songs?

  nop but i think some songs are somewht related to old ones..may be he might used the same ragam ..and he is doing it again so it'll come similar...
  
  every md has their plus and minus points ... reveendran is very good at using yesudas and giving good songs for him ..even from the old times..he is good at classical-semi-carnatic and his best songs comes from hindustani based ragams ..but his minus point is his medi-fast paced songs are average-horrible in orchestration ..and sometimes its not even worth to listen ..ie..one in pakalpuram ..i hates it... his orechestration lacks in fast paced songs ..in suthradharakan ravin nilavil starts with a guitar piece ...i am not tht sure ... and the song is face orchestration and its melidious after the pallavi the orchestration becomes like for melody songs ... i couldn't take it ..it made the song good to okkay

  THe info that Ravindran had scored for 450 movies is wrong.He is very selective.Possibly he might have crossed less than 125 films.
