S.P.B sings others' songs

Udhaya gave me these songs by S.P.B which are not originally sung by S.P.B. The songs can be found here: http://www.dhool.com/html/spb_other.html . It looks like this was done during a stage show (and the orchestra is patchy in several places). I personally feel that S.P.B has done a good job in a few songs, like nilavE ennidam nerungaadhE and poonkaathu thirumbumaa. It will be a good exercise to compare him with other singers in this regard. I wish more singers sing such classics that are not originally sung by them.

  Has he lost confidence in his songs and himself!
  
  Why cant these guys be self content with 700films tuned (IR) and 30000 songs stuffed in by SPB!
  
  There are many stage show singers to do this. It is too cheap for SPB to stoop down to this state.
  What if he has no new film songs! Cant he maintain his credibility by staying quiet and enjoying his gold memories in music. Is MS or BMK singing in films day in and day out?
  I think along with IR, SPB also need some psychological help! We expect some 'demand' oriented stuff from SPB instead of his changeover as stage-crap singer, regular style devotional singer, the way his cassettes crops up in the market lying without a demand.

  SPB is making somehting for his fans. If you want buy and listen or leave it. Why are you bothered about private stage singing?. Every singers fan will tink what if this songs is sung by my idol, SPB is doing what his fans might want. IF you dont want listen to the original, SPB hasnt eaten the original songs.

  SPB has done his job good but not at his best. The one and only song, where his voice matches with the situation very optly and smooth rendering, is nilavae ennidam. But for all songs, pch, very ordinary! So sad to hear from bala. Music, oh!man, it's so horrible. Ennai thaalaata is..... No comments, please.
  Aasaiyae alai polae is an intolerable rendering one from bala. It doesn't suit the situation and he could have atleast sung it in his original voice. The modulation and mimic is unsakikkable.
  Oru naal podhumaa lacks some punch, i dont know how to express it. I think i just compared it with the BMK's original version. But, if thought that it's sung by SPB, it's good. Anyway, it lacks an authenticate rendering.
  Kannae kalimaanae is good. Nothing more to say.
  Devan koil maniyosai, i found very much difficulty in coping up with the song, as he doesn't even near to seerkazhi. But, it's ok rated one.
  Arabi kadaloram is ok. Atleast we could able to hear the words. This is the first time, i could able to make out the lyrics clearly. Thanks to bala. But why he wanted to match his voice with ARR??
  Reg, TMS songs, he is entirely different. Bala lacks something in his voice, when compared with TMS. May be, the modulation, usually SPB has a soft, flexible voice. His voice never suits to SIVAJI.
  Rest of the songs are fair.
  The total rating of the album(!?) is fair, not up to the mark. Sorry, bala!!!

  some of the songs sung by spb is quite good and the rest have not come out well especisally of tms. there is nothing wrong in spb singing these songs and he has given it only for his innumerable fans . the songs suffer from poor music quality and that is one of the reason for it being an average one. i wish spb sings some more songs especially latest ones with good back ground music and it is definite that theoriginals will be forgotten once sbp sings these new songs.if you just hear telgu tenali, you can just find out how much tall he his when compared with others.

  I have the CD with me. I dont think this is sung by SPB. I think it is done by some sing alike like SPB.
  
  Reasons :
  
  1. The singer strains himself to imitate the original... SPB never does that... and his strong point is the ease in which he handles the songs
  2. Brigas or singing the swaras... SPB has matured immensely that he does it so sweetly and without strain... songs like malare maunama (darbari kaanada) ...u can easily see his talent. while in this CD even for an ordinary aalaap or briga ..the singer strains so much..
  
  Songs like Aasaiye alaipole, arabic kadaloram ...u can see that it cannot be SPB.

  Though I haven't the songs, I wonder if SPB would sing songs sung by others. Even in his concerts, he would only his songs and have someone else sing those by others. However I have heard that he has sung Rafi's songs (of whom he is big fan of) on stage. Really doubt he would sing songs by his juniors (like ARR).
  
  To get an idea how he compares with others, the song "Kalyana Malai" in PuthuPuthu Arthangal is a good example. The effortlessness and melody in SPB's version standsout when compared with those by Malaysia and IR.

  I do not think, that some one as extremly talented as SPB, would such an idiotic things like signing other singers songs, I can immitate certain SPB songs like, "Malare mounamma", and sound like SPB, so my conclusion is some idiots have done this to give a bad name to the legend known as SPB, he is a gift from god, so there are lot of people jealous of him, hence they do such cheap things like, immitating SPB & saying it is sung by SPB, I have listened to the CD, IT IS NOT SUNG BY THE GREATEST SPB, this story is a load of crap rumours, thanks.

  in order to encourge new talents, some of the songs that is naturally spb's are being sung by newspoilers sorry new comers. to satisfy his several lakhs of fans, there is nothing wrong in spb coming out like this and should be repeated with excellent backgroundmusic.

  I think there are varying opinioins on the authenticity of SPB being the singer of these songs. There is no doubt that SPB is the singer for these songs ( if its somebody who imitated SPB so much, he should immediately replace SPB in the industry - no one has that sweet flexible voice which is crystal clear).
  
  I guess its a private album which includes singers like Sailaja ( sister ) and Pallavi ( daugher ) and probably SPCharan ( son )might have chipped in too !
  
  I feel that there is nothing wrong in singing these songs as few of them are sung by himself in Telugu movies ( when they were dubbed/remade ). The good thing is he maintained the same emotions, but put in his own great style. In TV shows, once in a while he renders the songs which are not sung by him originally. I don't think he is doing this for the sake of publicity but for the sake of his fans ( who love his voice more than anything else).
  Probably I am responding a little late ( after the thread is not live ). But better late than never !

  I do not think that SPB would have sung any of these songs, I heard the songs, I am 100% sure that it is not sung by SPB, but by some one who immitates him. My voice is a bit SPB, so some one like me could sung the songs. OK!.
  
  All the songs in this CD are not sung by SPB, you can spot the difference in SPB's voice & this person who is immitating SPB, SPB never strain at High pitches, he sings with well ease, SPB never in his 35 years service lacked shruthi, layam & manly voice, which this immitator is lacking of.

  MR. Sriram Lakshman perhaps you should check your ears,(use ear wax) or go & get some haering aid.
  
  SPB's voice is getting better day by day, at 55 he sounds like 25, that is amazing!!!Can you beilive it.
  
  Have you heard of the two songs in "Star", he sounds like 25 year old, so manly & sweet voice, not 55, think b4 you speak
