Hey Karthik,
Thanks for the info on Hedningarna. Hedningarna is sure an interesting group. 'Hedningarna's world is a place where primitive, brutal folk music collides with sampling and programming, forging a new direction' is what the noside.com website says. Wonder if they are sampling from somewhere, or their music is being sold as sample loops. Good material for loops, though.
If YSR is getting excited about finnish folk, good that he is exploring worldwide and bringing them to the streets/pattithottis of tamilnadu, but why can't these plagiarists atleast acknowledge their source, be it YSR, ARR or IR in their cassette sleaves. Won't we be grateful to them? Doesn't matter even if they are sourcing from commercially available loops, why do they give us this pleasure of catching them out?
Wonder where karthik raja is searching for his inspiration?

This is really unacceptable. It is high time Yuvan realizes and stops blatant copying.

The director might have forced him to copy that song..?
Anyway,even that is bad :-(

YSR has not blatantly copied each of these songs. He has been inspired by them, or maybe some other reason for using them. We cannot judge him for this. We should just be happy that the songs are a hit.

Ravi - i have not heard the other 2 lifts in KK movie - but this one that Karthik has put is a 100% COPY - i don't see anything to say its an "inspiration".....

Ravi - Listen to the 3rd song that Kartik has posted..Itis a 100 %.yes..u r rite..he might have got inspired..to copy it verbatim..
Shame on him!!
What is the difference between him and deva..?When deva is stupid enough to copy from known sources,YSR copies from sources through out the world..Finnish folk..and he thought he can escape with it..?
A very disappointed fan

Except IR everyone copies.
Because it is a new trend to import the music from western. In the recent past ARR,VS etc.. everyone did.Wasn't KK a mega hit.

xml,
KK was a mega-hit...but does it really matter when we want to evaluate his originality.I am sure 99.99 % of the people are oblivious of the fact that he has copied from this song..
I feel it is like taking the people for a ride.but then as u say, most of them copy..But copying the FULL Song as such is really really BAD.
A very disappointed fan

Chandler, I heard both songs and I don't find it to be a 100% copy. Same with the other 2 songs in KKI, they simply have similiar backings, but the songs are totally different. Anyway KK is still a superhit no matter what people say

anyone who has heard that song will say that he has tweaked it a little no doubt.but my point is even though his music is a big hit,he is not very ORIGINAL..say like Ilayaraja
SAD!

NagaS - i played the original song, and my wife asked me "why is this song different ?" she thought it was the song from "KK"..... i dont think this is an inspiration or a coincidence....

It cant be coincidence..probably the director would have asked him to copy this song...

What is actually disappointing is, in spite of all these lifts, Kaadhal Konden still remains a pretty mediocre album. Atleast when Deva lifted in bulk, he made sure the final product was as appealing as an Aasai or Nerukku Ner. Kaadhal Konden doesnt even make a mark. YSR better get some tips from Deva (on proper lifting) next time around :-))

V,
to be frank, I am disappointed..but still I am a YSR fan..because i thot he was really good in nandaa and mounam pesiyathe..In fact,"Adatha Aatamellam" is one of the all time favourite..That is why when I came to know that YSR copied,I was searching for the reasons..One of the very possible reasons might be the director.. :-).Oru Nappaasai thaan ;-)

sabesan,
I listened to it once again today and I still believe we are only 'assuming' its a copy ... Im Not trying to prove YSR is original or something ... But want to give benefit of doubt to the composer !

Friends ,
I could not listen to the samples ...But tell me how many lines have been copied ...Is it only a single line ???If it is a single line ,then even our maestro has done that ..That is agenuine inspiration ...But if it is more than 3-4 line s,it has to be blantant copy ....
- From: V (@ 24.59.74.246)

There is no doubt here and how can you give the benefit of it?
The song is clearly TFMised and nothing extra has been done.

The only main difference I suppose is there is no breathing sound in the tamil version.otherwise the lyrics were substituted by tamil lyrics.of course there are small changes in instruments...

BT ,
Thanks ...
NagaS ,
This is a blantant copy ..If it had been a single line ,i would have excused ..but even teh beats ,chorus have been copied ....This is shameful ...Atleats he has copied only the pallavi ,anu pallavi ....the only difference between him and deva is that deva copies chranam also ...
But ....If the producer /director has compelled Yuvan to use this tune ,then it is ttally a different story ...

Even if the director/producer compelled yuvan to go for it, shouldn't he have stopped that?

Yes YSR copied.. so what is the big deal in that. There will be some instance where every other MD copied some western tunes. Moreover what respect you guys give for the MD's who are all the time original , that also I know. There was a music director called Balabarathhy.Do u guys remember him. What happened to Karthikraja? Did he attain what he deserved? When YSR was giving some scintilating tunes nobody cared him.Think about Aravindhan,Unakkaga Ellam Unakkaga,Rishi,Velai (which had a beautiful melody 'Oyvedu Nilavae') and so many movies to mention. When he inclined towards western music. You guys gave your years to him or else he would have become another KarthikRaja or Balabarathi. You guys turned him into a commercial MD who sometimes compromises himself by copying some tunes on the Director's choice. The MD needs to do all these bcoz todays directors are well aware of the western music and they insist what they want. Moreover YSR is not IR to say no to directors. He is growing and he will defenitely be like his father in the future, when he will yell at Director's who will ask him to copy by giving a music of rich quality than Western Music(that's Isaignani's way).

Bala,
Nobody's against our growing Tamil MDs copying or deriving inspiration from Western music. In fact, if not for people like Deva, Yuvan, Sirpi, etc, we would be unaware of such global talents.
The point is, when such incidents of copying/inspirations happen, it's always nice on the part of the MD to give credit to whoever deserves it.
After listening to the original for a few times, I've gone back to the Yuvanized version of it. I'm not going to hate that song just because it was copied. In fact, I still think the Tamil version is superior to the original version (IMHO).
OK. One more side to this argument. The reason for such an uproar is that people believe Yuvan is a rising star and he's got talent. And when such blatant copies are exposed, it doesn't help improve his image. Nobody cares when Deva or Anu Malik lifts tunes. Well, the thing is, from now, no one will care if Yuvan does the same thing too.
