This 'so-called' film critic from REDIFF.COM says 'ABHAY' (Hindi Version of ALAVANDHAAN' is a crap movie. The link is given below...

How crucial was 'music' a crucial factor for a film like ALAVANDHAAN?

Alavandhan - Kamal disappoints big time, especially with those cartoon scenes. Don't waste your time and money on this movie, Kamal's 200th. Watch some old movies of Kamal and feel happy.

It was definetly a GREAT MOVIE cause of Technical Goodness, STORY and ofcourse KAMAL's Unbeleivable Acting ( especially in the phone booth )
His Dad says something likle "are you being a necropile", Wonder how many ppl understood it. IT WAS A GREAT TRIP TO THE WORLD OF NANDHA...
Anyway the Cartoon animation might have been because of the censors

I saw Alavandhan. I enjoyed the movie very much. The second half of the movie is very thrilling and fast. Especially the car chasing scenes by "Nanda" is out of the world with Shankar Mahadevans background title song.Definitely a memorable movie with a novel story-line.
If you just want a run of the mill movie with stereo-typed dances, songs, comedy and sentiment this is certainly not the one.

I liked Aalavandhan. The first half was abit doubtful as the graphics seemed to go overboard, and due to the presence of irrelevant scenes and a somewhat patched work sequence of the scenes. But the 2nd half made up for it. I liked the flashback scene. Overall, one of the better Tamil movies I've seen for some time.

THe worst kamal movie in recent times. Stupid screenplay and Kamal has wasted his energy to the core. Many scenes similar to Guna, Sivappu Rojakkal. Nothing in the movie. Music is realliy horrible. Dragging flash back scenes are the main draw-back for this so called hit by Kamal fans.
Kamalji,better luck next time

Maybe it helped that I went to watch Aalavandhan with lower expectations than the first bunch of viewers. Kamal's portrayal of the couple's love live is way too far-fetched. It made many of the viewers uncomfortable. The movie is overall a potpourri of ideas from several hollywood, japanese, chinese movies. But it was interesting overall and something about the sleek and polished manner in which the movie was made, was appealing. The Nandhu character also gave an eerie sensation and was done very convincingly. A disappointment was the car chase sequence. It seemed like a typical boys with toys affair. The truck exploding and catapulting towards the sky seemed unbelievable. It was not like there was a bomb in there to give such a force. The song 'Aalavandhan' seemed wasted and was not even loud and clear enuf. The movie seemed to portray drug consumption as an interesting experience. I hated the voice-overs (if it wasn't their own) for both Manisha and Raveena. It was damn irritating. Though Raveena did seem more mature, I'd prefer that than watching some teenage bimbo love affair. That would have been so irritating. However I don't quite buy the theory of exploring the mind of the mad man as the movie was too shallow to do any real exploring and the storyline was abit too lame. But the hallucinations with his mother were quite nicely done, and the way young Nandhu slowly sinks into his mental instability was very effectively portrayed.
The bgm was pretty good.
It was a pretty good attempt for a Tamil movie. I wouldn't be surprised if Abhay bombs, as it's probably more than the bollywood audience can chew. Kamal has succeeded again in doing something new and whether it's good or bad, in a typical Scorpio fashion, he seemed to have evoked many strong feelings about his work.

PP is a load of crap.
KB took a good concept and ruined it with bad screenplay and immature direction.
The final scene was the ultimate bore. It was like watching a Beemsingh movie from the 60s. All the characters in the movie appear in the last scene and deliver pages and pages of 'vasanam'.
KB should have stoped with 99.
And AV gave that movie 42?!
pramanar otrumai onguha!

Where does parpanar come into picture here? Guys who read AV regularly will come to know that KB and AV had a huge fight some time back since KB felt AV was intentionally putting down his movies. Although 42 for PP is disputable, Alavandhan's review was really great with excellent analysis. Wait till you read the review of Nandha
