The Perfect Love Duet

I have created this thread in order to find out what you guys think is the PERFECT LOVE DUET. By this, I mean a song that depicts Love between two people, lyrically and in the interludes. I would like to see your opinions on 'happy' love duets, where the lovers are overjoyed to have met their life partners.

One song that I can think of is:

Endhan Nenjil Neegaadha Thendral Neethaana from the film Kalaignan - MD, Ilayaraja. This song has a lovely melody(Nalinakanthi Raga, which is a very Happy sounding one), Extremely Rich orchestration, and I believe, really Lovely Romantic Lyrics.

  bb: Quick question, in Thoda Thoda Malardhadhenna, doesn't he sign, Thotaavanai Marandhadhenna? Isn't that giving a sad meaning to the song? Please help, because I also thought of it, but then got confused!

  geetha, that refers to their separation after childhood. note that the song then goes on to describe their closeness earlier. so i guess it does fit in this thread. one of the most melodious songs in TFM.

  these ara few of my favourite clos-to-perfect love duets:

  brilliant number, the entire flow of the song is magical. wonderful lyrics, and spb's naughty singing is simply too good. for sheer love, it is difficult to match this one.
  
  puthiya poovithu - thenRalE ennai thodu
  
  a classic from IR, its the music -- orchestration, tune, interludes -- that heightens the sense of romance more than the lyrics.
  
  iravul nilavum maRayattuymE - karNan
  
  good old-fashioned duet, but then love never goes out of fashion. here it is the lyrics that carry the essence of love. an all-time great song. up there with the best there can be.
  
  i did not have picturisation in mind while making my choices, for in that case, VaLaiyOsai kalakala (sathya) takes the crown for the greatest love duet of all time, closely folllowed by puthu veLLai mazhai (roja).

  your #9 (thunbam nErgaiyil yAzeduththu nI inbam sErkka mAttAyA) i think is the apt choice. no comparison. everything is else only third (there is no second when this is the first :-) ). all,imo.
  
  idhazhil kadhai yezhudhum nEramidhu (one kuRai with this song is that chithrA makes some blatant mispronunciations).

  I think 'Kaadhalin deepam ondru etrinaale en nenjil' was a good love song with lyrics like 'ennai naan thedi thedi, unnidam kandu konden' -excellent rendering by SPB and cool background and interludes by IR.

  Thanks for a great thread. Sorry about the length of my posting, I got carried away. What constitutes a good love song, hmm, the mood should either be upbeat and happy or sensuous and sultry; lyrics should be passionate with rich, flattering, over the top metaphors; the music should be soothing, energetic or seductive; the singing should be involved and emotional.
  
  While making my list for this post I realized that the male perspective is predominantly about the female beauty while the female perspective is predominantly about the depth of the bond. The male in these songs is usually fortunate to be involved with a gorgeous babe and can't wait to get it on, while the female is usually cooling his fire and singing about the good day when they will be married when the romance will attain fruition. Damn, it's high time we had some female poets in TFM to show the true romantic side of their gender.

  A note about this song from MSV himself is that he took about 2 years to find the right tune for this song! The tune and the lyrics are so inseparable in this song that one can't think of a better tune for this song!

  Although the tamil version in Idayathe Tirudathey is good...
  
  Perhaps the best Love Duet(IMHO) is "Om Namaha" by SPB and SJ in Geetanjali (Telugu). This should perhaps rank amongst TFM's ATG (all time greats).
  
  Somehow the Tamil version couldn't convey that intensity.
