What do you say about Swarnalatha What do you say about Swarnalatha

I think, Swarnalatha is really very versatile singer in TFM. But her voice is not used taht much by the MDs of TFM. I think Ilayarajaa gave her good chances, then it was A.R.Rehaman. Her songs like - Poovoma Oorgholam, Thirumana Malarghal are really good.
I request the Real Music lovers who have heard the songs of Swarnalatha to reply to this thread about her songs and career. I also request you guys to talk about her songs in KFM, MFM,TeFm also.

I'm glad you brought this topic up because I always wonder why tfm fans don't mention her. Swarnalatha is a very good singer and I don't think she gets the credit and recognition that she deserves. Recently (past couple of years), MD Vidyesegar has given her a few songs.

Swarnalatha's voice is good.But nowadays she is given only item number kind of songs.
Ennuulle (2) from valli,poraalae ponuthaye
maalayil yaaro,kuyil pattu oh,unnai thottu ennai thottu are all classic nos. sung by her.
But she needs a good dress designer and a jewellery designer. she wears too gaudy stuff be it salwar and a long gold chain,typical of mallu Does any one agree

Im surprised y noone has mentioned "evano oruvan" from alaipaayudhe. I think it was a brilliant score... but seemed like it was not given the weightage other songs in the movie got.

hey....did u see the trailer of his last film - "Annan" .... in that the villains have their faces lined up and "thalaivar" gives all of the them a punch in one stroke!

hear the song -Uthama puthiri naane in Guru Sishyan and the hindi version by Asha bhosle in Mahadev. i think swarnalatha is damn lucky to be given chances to sing with a nasal voice and limited talent like that.

Prabhu Poralae ponnuthayi's pathos version was sung by Swarnalatha and won national award for that. Duet was sung by Sujatha.
Aatama theyrottama, Maasi masam aalana ponnu are also some of her greatest hits

Hi thank you for this topic. I think Swarnalatha is a good singer no doubt. She has wonderful voice, you see, many singer came in for a few years then left or been moved. but swarnalatha still there even she give less songs but we still can hear her songs. I know that not all the songs suite for her, I'm fans of Chitra, S Janaki, Susila great fan of them, but certain songs they cannot sings if they sings spoil their image, about her dressing i'm not sure, comeone she getting her pay and its her wish to dress, no comen.. anyway she is wonderful singer no doubt.

Swarnalatha is one of a rare gem. Its no surprise that she has not been accorded her rightful place or praise in this world of falsehood which neither recognises nor see the difference between saltstones and gemstones.
