Divakar,
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to sing your interpretation of Udhaya's lyrics and special thanks to Udhaya for making it non-gender specific. The vocals were recorded by me at home and then arranged and mixed at Divakar's studio. It was fun remotely collaborating with him on this song..
Mahathi & Isai Rasigai
Glad you enjoyed the song. Thanks...

Mahati, IR
Thanks for the quick and wonderful review...
Yes the ragas are Saranga and Hameer Kalyani though originally I concieved the tune in Hameer kalyani and later improvised well by Radhika to Saranga!
IR,
the violin sounds are from one of my friends full size Rosetti violin....

rjay,
Finally listened to your two recent versions. The first one nails the jubilant mood right. The tune was complex in that I couldn't rember it well to hum it back. Perhaps this is good for it invites repeated hearing to uncover the whole thing.
The ballad I liked immediately because the rhythmic strumming walks the tune away with a tender hand on its hip.
MS,
If you hadn't put the S.A.Rajkumar reference in my mind, I wonder if I would've picked it up. I probably would've with the isolated phrasing of "mugavanam malargiRathu". I can imagine the North Indian instruments that SAR uses for these midtempo songs like "vandhadhu pennaa vaanavailthaanaa". Just an interesting in-joke here, folks. Of course, unlike most, I enjoy the simple melodies of SAR for he's one of the few remaining MDs who allows the words to surface in songs (spoken like a lyricist, I know).
Divakar,
Excellent string arrangement in your version. From a ghazal-like start it takes me to a magical place like a prayer room during monsoon.
Radhika,
This is the best I've heard from you in terms of pronunciation and enunciation. Keep it up.

Wonderful!! Such an effect of rain/cyclone with instruments! Boy, this was unbelievable. And the pallavi is my favorite in the song. It is beautiful and has a lovely flow to it. The intro and the tail piece were adorable.
Radhika
Good job in the rendition. You have a nice soothing voice. It is nice to see these successful in-house collaborations.

Thanks Udhaya, Kaumudi and Vijay....
Kaumudi, the sounds of rain drops is not an instrument but I had this idea, and recorded the water splashing thru a faucet at home thru my Shure SM57 Guitar microphone....it did turn out well....Thunder sounds are ofcourse sampled sounds!

In the context of pouring rain here, Mahati would like to remind this thread about Jay Krishnan's Twilight Rain score...mesmerize with the most simplistic order of musical notes - light weight melody on saxophone -neeedful piano counters and pleasing bass - totally to lead you into immersive rain...should we say the breeze of Mand passed over the ears?
I guess it's missing in his webpage...neverthless it's accessible in one of the sites that I don't remember:-((

Divakar:
You are a gifted artist. A spontaneous one. I see that you are developing a style of your own. I may not understadn your complicated thinking like impressionism or whatever but can definitely appreciate all your work. Wonderful postlude !
And all those efforts to bring the rain sound. Man, you are creative, for the lack of a better word !
Radhika:
As udhaya observed, your tamil rendition has indeed improved. Any language has to be given appropriate stress in the words to sound wholesome and I find you have taken care.
I have a comment on this song. The way the words "muththu thooRal" have been squeezed is uncomfortable. As much it is necessary to ensure enunciation, so much important it is to make a smooth flow of the words (no advice this is :-), just a suggn). It is recommended not to pack the words tight. "muththu thooral" could have been made just "thooral". If you are unsure of what to omit and what to retain, please consult the lyricist.
Barring the aberration, the song looks wonderful. But I have to admit that I like the orchestration more than the main tune itself (which is based on a standard hameer kalyan scale) since it seems to distinguish more from the rest of the styles.
rjay:
Your creative best comes, IMHO, in the orchestration. I liked your ballad very much. nice chords and progression. But it was indeed a nice surprise to hear your first tune which though not contemporaneous, was innocuously sweet, especially the pallavi.

Hi,
I am not an expert in composing and not even exposed a little bit to Karnatic Sangeetham and Raagas etc. But anyhow I wanted to try.
Here is my tune for Udaya's Sindhippoagum...

Divakar,
great backgrounds!,
the chords that goes behind made me hear it atleast twice now. I really liked the vilon parts, the score has the width I often look for.
Since many have spoken about the melody part,
I would say, just minor refining needed there, Looking forward for more. Radhika with full enthu - she does quite well, remote singing is not easy.

MS and Srikanth,
Thanks very much!
MS, I did notice the issue with expressing certain phrases now... I sure can understand what you say by enunciation of a voice very similar to the tonal beauty we bring to the instruments by the way we play it(tonal expressions)...I mean, i suppose thats a good point and in retrospect thooral and words like that would have been perfect! THanks
Radhika did a fantasic job of singing, as Srikanth pointed out, remotely recording it has some minor problems but she was as much excited as I was in delivering this song....so made my task easier!

UN,
I would've never imagined just a drumbeat accompanying my lyrics. So, your outsider perspective has produced something unique. A bit of tasteful orchestration and creative vocals can make this a fun pop song. Keep at it.

Interesting twist to the hitherto produced soft melodies - a pop, fast paced song. Yeah, as Udhaya points out, this could be a fun song. I noticed a lot of IR touches in the beat style and the composition style itself.

Thanks for your comments. Divakar's superbly fresh orchestration has really elevated this song. I was amazed to discover that he has played the Rosetti violin piece himself. What next!!!
MS, Your points about the appropriate grouping of words have been noted... will take care next time.

That was an interesting departure from tradition in your interpretation of the lyrics. liked the upbeat mood it created.

Divakar,
That was really really sweet. I really liked the idea of recording from the faucet. Then I liked the idea of setting up the glissando on the Santoor sound with the Sa on the higher octave on the Piano. The intro could have been longer in my view. Also, one that kinda confused my listening pleasure for a second was when the singing started, the starting kinda seemed all of a sudden from the blue, probably I was expecting more intro music. The charanam is majestic with the strings. Also liked the various moods thru out the song. And Radhika's voice is really sweet.
UN, Nice peppy tune. With appropriate instrumentaion, it will make a good peppy song to sing along.
I just recorded an old composition I made. Its supposed to be like a background music for a situation like just coming out of a bad expereince and still realising evrythings good. Like when a war has ended the previous nite and the tired people slowly wake up the next day while it is still dark and see the sun rising, something like that. Please let me know ur feedback. As usual cudnt get the desired clarity in recording.
