AR Rahman's Tamil Blockbuster "BOYS"

Rahman's much anticipated "Boys" is set to release soon and everyone is keen on finding out more about this album. Who are the singers? What are the soundtracks like? When is the release date? Will the album be delayed? If anyone has any idea; please post here....

Also; use this thread to discuss this album..

Here is what i found::

Typical of Shankar, the director is not prepared to say much about the film at this point. However, it is known that the film will be very youthful, almost teeny-bop, in content, with the majority of the cast being in the 16-23 age group.

Shankar, apparently, has decided to cast all new faces in his film – and the younger the better.

In fact, a mention in various Tamil periodicals, and an accompanying advertisement to the effect that Shankar was looking for new faces, has created a headache of sorts for the producers. Curriculums vitae have been pouring in to the Surya Movies post box ever since the ad and the story ran in the vernacular press – and last heard from, the flood shows no signs of abating.

Curiously enough, the ad appears – thanks to emails and discussion groups – to have reached an audience abroad as well, with the result that newer batches of applications have US, British and suchlike stamps on them, which suits the producer and director fine since the film does incorporate a lot of NRI faces.

For Shankar, Boys will be a return to romance after Kadhalan, and to comedy after the Aishwarya Rai-Prashanth starrer Jeans. Though the film will feature fresh – and ergo, inexpensive – faces, Shankar maintains that the film will be typical of his style, which means lavish budgets, and expensive production values.

  u kno what there would be so many more sales of Boys if there wasn't any mp3s or piracy.If u look at coolgoose,ull see that the Boys songs have been downloaded over 1000 times.So with a lil math 1000 x $8 that's $8000 which is a lot of rupees.

  video's sounds interesting. Choreographer raaju sundram's dance movements are usually very unimpressive, tasteless & repetitive. Hope atleast this one would be an exceptional one and hope there's some justice to ARR's electrifing music.

  When all the MDs stop copying it from other's music and swear to come up with original [no crap like inspired by] then i think the listerner might listen.

  Actually Prabhu:I believe people are just cheap.Just because they are cheap they download the songs instead of buying the music.There really isn't any other reason.Tell me this, why should one download the music and keep it if they also do not like it?The one and only reason they are stingy and do not wish to spend money.
  
  Why would some MD feel they should innovate, if their music is not appreciated and just downloaded?Luckily some MD's out there still do.Namely ARR,sometimes HJ and others are starting to also come out with many good songs.
  
  And I know I'll probably get some response saying "The reason people download the songs is because why should they pay for songs taht are not good," or "If it's free it is just stupid to pay for the music." well say whatever you feel but this is my opinion people who just download the songs instead of purchasing are just cheap.
  
  Now I am not totally against downlaoding songs,in the sense that if one download music and enjoy it one should go out and purchase the original.On the other hand if one downloads music and does not like it then just delete the songs from his/her cpu.

  If it is Quality Music surely people will buy, no matter and will be proud in possessing the media (CD/Tape/for the matter of fact any of the those).
  
  Actually Apples 99 cent music download is one of the gr8est ideas, i just download only those which i like, unless the whole album is good.

  Dont u think it's easier just uploading samples? as Boys was done in the beginning.
  And the same ppl who ask us to stay away from piracy give us the links to the latest songs. The subject is just too confusing.

  mm...i heard BOYS is being further delayed....earlier the release date was Aug 15...then Aug 22 and today i heard its Aug 29....at this rate ppl can just say Aug15 and not mention the year! :-)

  the cassette was released long long ago... 12.5 hrs in so many days is nothing actually
  
  i wud have listened to the cassette atleast 20 times im sure...dats say 20 X 30 = 600 mins = 10 hrs (curses will give u a time in hrs which is a multiple of 10!).... and my friend listened to it (GF song) 8 times during the 'journey' to college
  
  so it is quite possible that vicky is not lying....though he mayb...u can never be sure..
  
  moreover there are ppl visiting this forum who stay extra time at office and listen to songs/read ananda vikatan! [naan yaaraiyum kuripittu sollala!! :) ]
