  I still have more regard for ARR than YSR.

  Actually, I saw the music launch function in Raj TV. Sj Surya told that he asked ARR to use the same original tune for this movie. ARR told him ' why do you want to use the same tune ? lets try something different for this.' Surya said he was initally hesitant and asked him if some other tune would suit for this kinda song . ARR asked Surya to trust him which Surya did and finally he was amazed at the tune. ippdiyaaga ARR a pugaznthaaru interview la.

  I don't feel like buying NEW.. though I liked AE. New is like E20U18.. i mean its ok, but not EXCELLENT. I saw the Cd inlay of Indian version - it had 8 songs. I duno bout Sing/M'sian version.

  This shows the consistency of ARR in delivering music. He does decent music only for top banners like manirathnam, shankar. Take the case of kangalal kaidu sei, udaya, new.. Though they were released late, songs r not upto the mark.
  
  its time that ARR should give good music. Theres no point in saying that he doesnt have time. Why does he then sign for these films.
  
  Even vidya sagar, HJ gives exceptional music.

  That was no joke. Udhaya and New I disagree. But with KKS i was disappointed. Definitely not upto the mark.

  Kangalal kaithu sei had lots of classical base and anyday its far better than new and udaya.

  Unless I am talking about some other movie, where is the classical base in KKS? Anarkali was excellent with beautiful tabla work. Too much techno in other songs. The album was good, not upto the mark! It was quickly forgotten.
  
  And if you say it was better than New and Udhaya for its classical base, you are confusing me.

  Udaya had 2 worst songs from ARR something that is rare
  Anjanam and enna enna
  
  In KKS didn't you find the songs Enuyir thoziye and thekuruvil Raga based.
  ARR might have modified them but they weren't something like Saregamey.

  Raaga based yes. But thats not classical base. All Indian songs are raaga based :-)
  
  In my opinion Yenna Yenna was an excellent song. That and Udhaya were two songs that immediately registered on first listening. Thekuruvil, I did like, but none of the songs craved multiple hearings like New or Udhaya. Exception Anarkali.

  I found the songs of AE and Yuva to be of the highest grade. Especially Yakka Thiri/ Fanaa. Actually AE is a gem, another feather in his cap. As for Udhaya, it was one of Rahman's albums where the songs were forgettable. It does not have mass appeal but nice plain songs nevertheless. I think Yenna Yenna was good but for a fast beat, one should not forget the song, Thiruvallikkeni Rani. As for E20U18, well I don't know what to think of it. Average I guess, like Harris Jeyaraj's work. That is not to deny HJ anything for he has done some great work. I have not listened to New as of yet but from the trailors I think it is another one like Boys. Where is the Rahman who gave us movies like Alai Payuthea and Minsara Kanavu, well working in USA I guess...

  I don't think we can agree anything regarding Udaya :)
  Since i have AE to listen i don't give a damn to New.
  And i can listen Cindrella, Anarkali and Enuyir thoziye in tranquility but none of the songs from new.

  Whether its IR or Deva or SAR or whoever it is, nobody has graduated in reproducing existing sounds in an interesting way. I have to credit ARR for this.All churn out same old kadhali yen ennai kolgirai kind of nonsense which is predictable .
  
  So does not make a difference if it is IRish or Deva-ish. Hope ARR is able to continue experimenting. High time to move away from tamil music and do more LOTR WOHE kind of projects. For our kadhalan-kadhali song needs we have enough people here. Like IR, VS, Deva, SAR and the newbies.
  
  I heard Konji Pesalam. IR's Songs in that seem like they are inspired from SA Rajkumar's dand-tak dand dand-tak kind of raw music. Hurriedly composed and very pale!
