Please announce the availability/uploading of
old Thamizh film songs in real audio (or other
formats) in this page. Discussions on the songs
and also requests for particular songs can be

  I know what you are asking. Many others have also sent me
  emails asking for 'choice play' and 'random play'.
  I am not doing this because I am not an expert
  in setting up such things. Also I do not want to
  learn doing the required http-technicalities
  because the current PPP-RA page is temporary and
  it will be removed after 6 months or so. Since
  all the songs are anyway being relayed from
  swara.com (big thanks go to Ravi who owns
  swara.com and takes care of all the relaying)
  all of us can hear the songs directly from swara.com
  and there is no need for my angelfire page!
  Right now Ravi and I are working on setting up
  the songs in swara.com neatly. Once that is done,
  all options such as choice play, random play etc

  I am writing this to announce that the PPP-RA page at angelfire will
  merge with http://swara.com starting from next week. This means that
  this angelfire page will disappear soon. This is to avoid the double
  work needed to maintain the pages at both sites. Hence I request listeners
  to go to swara from now on. The swara site is very nicely automated and
  maintained by Ravi. It allows selective play. Very soon a 'random play'
  option is also going to be introduced at swara. As always, I will continue
  to upload many goldies through swara. Currently we are putting together
  many TMS-PS duets. These songs will appear at swara within a couple of
  days. Until then these songs can be listened via this single ram file
  (Watch out! There are 215+ songs):

  it is from "Naan Yaen Pirandaen". MGR sings this song for Bharathi(Actress) who according to the story has crippled legs. When MGR thinks of KR Vijaya, Bharathi thinks MGR is singing for her.
  
  Even today this triangle love story finds its place in new movies. Movies: I have one question. Why the same motives of LOVE and/or REVENGE(Anbu and/or Pahai) is repeatedly used? Why Araitha Mavaiyae Araitchify? Why people see that? Isn't 50 years of tamil movies and songs enough?

  is from 'nAn En piRandhEn'. MGR sings it to Kanchana, I think.

  kadhiravan, doesn't MGR sing that song so bharathi can actually feel better? See the lines "naan paadum paadal NALAMAAGA vENdum...". At the end of the song, I think, she actually gets up to walk!
  
  sk, I listened to P Leela's "enai aaLum mEri maathaa". In fact, I have listened to this song properly in all my life only this one time: The lines "...kaNamENum saanthi illaiyE..." made me want to cry. "Thavaru seidhadhaal vaazhkkai nilai maariyadhE adhanaal oru nodip pozhudhu kooda nimmadhi illaiyE" - engira parithavippu - and that's the word I can think of - parithavippu ethanai andhak kuralil? I wanted to getsticulate and literally touch her feet. (And yours too for your relentless contribution).

  You are right. MGR sings to Kanchana. That reminds me another song which expresses the thrilling emotion on love, "Muthamo Mohamo Thatthi Vandha Vehamo..." It is lovely song for Kanchana and MGR in the movie "Parakkum Pavai"(????).

  Yes you are right. She gets up and starts walking. And MGR gains better position in their family, because of this from his boss.
  
  Also, when you mentioned "enai Aalum Mary Madha..." I recalled another wonderful song "Karunai Mazhaiyae Mary Madha Kangal Thiravayo..." by P.Susheela. Very nice song. Is it available elsewhere?

  Tamil Records Archives is a private collection of 78rpm records(shellac discs) of Tamil film songs maintained by me of rare Tamil/Hindi/Telugu/Malayalam films from 1930s to 1950s.It also has collection of rare vocal records of S G Kittappa, P G Venkatesan("The Saigal of South India"),K L Saigal amongst others.

  Hi Basker, the song 'ulagam piranthathu enakaga' was one of Kannadasan and MGR's favourite song. It was written when both these stalwarts were in their peak of their respective careers and belonging to the same political party. Kannadasan himself had said that when he penned this song he was in a very jubilant mood after a few rounds of his usual drink!
