Remember the Music Director trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, the music directors of Kamal Hassan's Alavandhaan. They seem to be missing in the Tamil scene for the last 2 years and they are doing really good in the Hindi field. They have given solid musical hits in Hindi such as; Mission Kashmir, Dil Chahtha Hai. I think they can be brought to the Tamil films again. I feel they are definitely better than Deva and a few others. I think they are the best as far as Hindi Film Music goes after A R Rahman.
I would like healthy comments who listen to Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and have a fair knowledge of Hindi Film Industry.

cheap productions cheap costumes and cheap copied music are tramdemarks of taamil movie industry. u can compare any average hindi movie against a big budget tamil movie. tamil movie still a cheap production. it will cost them a lot of money if they want talented people from bwood. u think tamil industry can spend that much money, i don't think so baby.

" it will cost them a lot of money if they want talented people from bwood. "
Who is this guy and why is he insulting TFM folks, why is anyone not objecting to it ?
And worse he supports Hindi movies, God atleast in the last 4 years I haven't seen a single good Hindi Movie, this person is complaining about Tamil Movies.
And if he hates Tamil Movies so much why is he in the TFM discussion - probably got lot of time in his disposal.
Mr Sam, let us know what was the last good Hindi Movie that u have seen ? Hopefully that is not copied from Southern Film Industry or Hollywood.

Sam,
A biased view or opinion is seldom appreciated/Accepted.
See, The Bollywud films cater to a larger population than Kollywud films do. So naturally the flow of money shud not be accounted in comparing the two industries.
When it comes to quality, world knows how silly and crappy the bollywud movies are(agian there have been good one too but talking on a whole).
The Kollywud(infact the south indian) movies are far better in the content.Even the best of bollywud movies are no where close to the Malayalam movies(the most low budget movies).
So better accept the fact.
As far as the Music goes, TFM is the best in IFM now specially with the surge of New/young MDs.ARR is the only man breathing life in to the HFM.
So get a Life and accept the shortcomings of ur ground.

Genius you don't give a rat's a$$? sour grapes story LOL!
Balu if u say u r better it does not make u better. some malayalam movies are art movies so they got awards but tamil telgu and kannad are cheap productions and have no art value too. y don't u accept ur shortcomings first.

I accepted the fact that the south Indian movies do not enjoy huge production values like the bollywud movies. Its unfair to expect such productions simply because they cater to a much less population when compared to the viewership enjoyed by the bollywud movies.
But its a matter of simple sense that a huge production does not make a movie the best. Its the content, narration, music, performance, technology etc that makes a movie the best.
My point is bollywud films are no where close to the Tamil Movies in those aspects.
Yau say Malayalam movies are art movie. Not all of them lack entertainment value(not all are pure art movies).
So u (no better ;-) ) accept the fact and stick to the subject of the thread.
U may open a diff thread to discuss superiority of one industry over the other.

sam.. production value is not only in making the movies abroad and picturizing the songs in foreign countries. Production value is always with the technical value that the movies have. We are good in making those kind of movies. In the 50's itself we made Chandralekha. BR. Banthulu's VeeraPandiYa Kattabomman and AAyirathil Oruvan are well known for their production values in 60's.Even the north indian's accepted that.First 70mm movie is RajaRajaCholan... won't u consider that as a big budget movie.Consider the movies like Roja, Bombay .. how much production value they had. Apart from all do u know the production value of the movie Jeans it was more than 20 crores at the time of its production .... Highest DTS track was introduced in asia for the first time in a Tamil Movie Karuppu Roja. Running Camera's were introduced in the Indian movies for the first by Krishna Vamshi in his movie sindhooram(Teleugu). Dolby is introduced in Kuruthiu Punal. Moreover could any hindi movie could makeout a perfection what Shankar has exhibited in Mudhalvan. In Makeup also Kamal has brought a lot of new techniques. Our Musicians .. in 80's introduced the computer music. Ilayaraja for vikram. They recoreded the music in hungary for Hey Ram.. which the hindi film makers only can dream of. As my friend Balu said we definitely need another thread to discuss the superiority of the South Indian Film Indistry over North Indian Film Industry.

so there were about five to 10 films in ur history that were big budget. BIG DEAL! your actors can't even afford nice clothes or a decent haircut in 99.999999999% of ur movies. North indian girls are ruling tamil films for several years. north indian singers are prducing one hit song after another in every film they sing for several years. u can keep talking about that 5 or 10 films but the reality is HINDI movies are BEST movies with hollywood standards. not the cheap tamil movies and the copied song tunes. HINDI singers are the BEST singers and TRUE singers. not the southie rat voices. so take a hike.

Spoken like a true moron.
Bollywood is nothing but cheap sex and gangsterism both in the movies and outside.
Hindi movies were reasonably good when the top actresses like Hema Malini, Jayabadhuri, Sridevi, Aiswariya Rai etc were from the South. Now they just stink. No surprise that Hindi movies were in the doldrums in 2002.
Technology wise, innovation wise, music wise, story wise, acting wise, nay in every aspect Southern movies are light miles ahead of the crap coming out from Bollywood.
But of course crap will attract morons, so let us not arguie with them on an equal footing. They cannot see genius even when it stares at them from the end of their nose.

Hi people looks like once again we have stirred up a hornets nest. Yes we really would love to do a couple of Tamil films which are not of the same genre as Alawanthan but a genre where we can really compose like a love story or something of the sort. Currently we are jammed with work here in Mumbai with Ek Aur Ek Gyarah , Honey Iranis Armaaan , Roha Sippys Kuch Na Kaho and Karan Johars Kal Ho Na Ho. Bollywood and the North in general prefers very simple melodies and not intricate classical based melodies as the South desires I think its fantastic that the South loves intellegent composition. Somehow I dont think that u guys should knock Bollywood composers when you hear our melodies on Armaan and other films I'm sure u will be able to see that we can compose too.Alawanthan was one kind of film we did. Please dont go carrying this chip on your shoulders that the music there is superior. Rahmans music doesnt appeal to a lot of people in the North but that doesnt say anything about his compositions or his talent. Different strokes for different folks if K3G is thrash for u so be it but do not make generalisations. Glad to be posting on this forum again.

Ehsaan, good to see you post here after your work on aalavandhaan. raaja is spontaneous and rahman is experimental. Looks like with these idols you guys are poised for an impressive career in the industry. I will surely be looking forward to your music in the movies you listed.
"your actors can't even afford nice clothes or a decent haircut in 99.999999999% of ur movies"
I see this poster now and then talking in this tone. Let me put it this way - we are not ashamed of how we look, here in the south. Yes, we have a brown skin and like to liberally oil our hair to escape the heat of the tropical sun, but goddammit we are no way inferior, i mean in NO WAY, to any light skinned weight-lifting, pathans on steroids, who bleach their hair and who wish they had much whiter skin all the time..As for the heroines, what can I say, some prurient middle-aged men running the industry seem to be titillated by these young, willing-to-be-almost-naked on screen bimbos. This is surely an aberration that needs to be corrected.

Ehsaan
Ignore the hate-mongers and concentrate on the real music-lovers.
Personally, I loved your songs in Aalavanthan and if you do any more Tamil movies, that will be the yeardstick used. :)
I can still talk about the way you guys played with the music in Kadavul paathi mirugam paathi to create an aura of suspense and thrill. Can you tell us how you came about this.
