  TMS PS and all others are neglected by Delhi govt. The reason probably is because the State GOvt did not make a proper rep. or appeal to them.

  What wrong has Nagesh or Manorama have done. Why not a DSP to IR or MSV?

  Nagesh will get after Dipak Tijouri.
  MSV will get after Anu Malik.
  IR will get after Viju Shah/Nikhil Vinay.
  
  TMS is fortunate to have got it over Kumar Sanu,Shabbir Kumar,Johny Lever(who has sung in a movie!!!)
  
  The modality is very simple.MP/UP/Bihar contribute close to 200 MPs whereas TN contributes 39.We need Blasters like Rehman,Viswanathan Anand who straightaway start as incomparables and walk into the HOF.When NI/Bollywood has something/someone to compare with ,however illogical it is( like comparing Amitabh to Sivaji,Aaamir to Kamal),then SI has to wait.
  
  People like Deve Gowda complicated issues by awarding it to his state actor.

  Its not just Hindi people or hindi belt. It needs back-up.
  
  Saroja Devi got Padam bushan. Rajini also got Padma bushan. Yesudas, Kamal, Manorama, SPB, AR Rehman got Padmasree award. Now TMS, Vairamuthu, Sukumari got Padmasree award. How? It needs solid push and consistent influence.
  
  Its really sad that P Susheela was not at all honored. I am sure that if one of 4 south state govts try, she would have definitely got at least Padmasree. Even Andhra pradesh from where she was born and TN from where she lives these days have forgotten her. What else to blame than her or our bad luck !!!

  Yes. That is true. But, I am afraid whether these 39 do their job properly. Do they project the Tamil cause there?
  
  I am still wondering Why IR and Sivagi Ganesan missed out in Mudhal Mariyaadhai..How come ...and how come Radha got it.
  VM got and he deserved that...The former two deserved more. The representation is not proper. There are many missed out names in Tamil and telegu also. But I think Andhra with Strong CN as CM should be able to bargain nicely.

  AY - i don't think Radha got awarded for Mudhal Mariyaadhaaii...... she missed it to Suhasini - the main reason being, her voice was a dubbed one.... and did'nt IR get the award for Sindhu Bairavi the same year ? or was it a different year ?
  
  and a BIG YES, it needs a hell of a backup.... i remeber the year when Bavatharini got award for BARATHI, i remember one of the guy in the jury (forgot his name, a producer or some guy) had given an interview saying that "no one wanted to watch the movie BARATHI first, i had to fight with them for long to make them watch....."

  i totally agree with Subbu. its only the PUSH that will help one get these padma award. Hindi belt is very strong in it. regionals will get a few then and there. TMS is lucky to get it in his lifetime.

  Yeah, I partially owe it to Danny Denzongpa for shaping my entire career. If his TV serial 'Ajnabee'(& others like Junoon etc.) had not been that bad, I would never have turned off the TV --> less marks in +2 --> no engineering seat --> no lucrative job in the US.

  this is an appeal and i find the developments quite disturbing.
  
  India-Today mag has been consistently pulling down Tamil actors,Tamil films and general tamil mass at the slightest opportunity.Tamil Nadu has the highest computer literate population in India and is being described as "Gateway for Knowledge" by a Harvard study.For the first time the country has got a techno-PResident and he is from TN.There is only one man who excels in a global mind-sport,he is from the TN.(Unlike Champs in games played by 12 countries in the world).The Scientific advisor to the PM is from TN.People of TN origin have won the Nobel prize for science.the only Pan-indian Cine name till-date is AR Rehman who has more international acheivements than what Bollywood can dream of.
  
  The country s top SW groups have southern base and controlled predominantly by South Indians.the 4 southern states have more Chartered accountants than than the rest 22 states put together.
  
  In the issue listing Powerful-50 see the explantion for Hafeez contractor.I recall them using "shameless entertainment" when writing about "Aboorva Sagodarargal" in 1991.Whenever Rajini s name comeup the Tamil s cinema fascination gets a mention.These morons from the cow-belt have voted for Lallu Prasad,Rabri,Devilal,Raj Narayan and many jokers in the past.
  
  If the Singapore PM teaches me civic sense i would be a humble and obliging student.But when men Devilal s/Raj Narain s land teach me about cleanliness & civic sense....... just because they are more in number.....spit on them!
  
  In the issue of NRI special Tamil gets a casual mention when taliking about Silicon valley.I understand that Tamil(tamilians)are one of the bigger power groups there.

  May be power group isnt the right word,but IT mentions Tamil as one of the Silicon valley languages!In the afternoon i shall specify the page number of IT -NRI Diaspora issue.
  
  I am concerned about their attittude towards the oldest Indian language,its people,its culture.The language has got better literature than any other Indian languages.If this is not racial,then lets invent a new word.
  
  In our movie credits even a semi clad Aruna Irani gets a "Aruna-irani(Bambai)".But Rehman/Kamal/IR/Sivaji/SPB never get the honourable regional mention.If at all they get ,then its "Madrasi".
  
  Watch the ads-any stupid hindi moron wearing a dhothi with vibhoothi and talks "aiyayo" is a madrasi.
  
  When i was working in Delhi i left for chennai on hoildays.A NI colleague asked me "Gaon Jarahehai kya".I said yes and told mine is not a gaon and it has all the facilities.He inisited that "Aree!South me sab gaon hai".Fortunately i had a chance to visit his place .....a god forsaken UP village with one western toilet in 100 sq kms area!

  I remeber seeing this film on DD sunday afternoon and BR gave an interview before the film. Many times it was mentioned that Radha won the award the previous year.

  Even take the case of DD or Indian Govt for the matter. You can see the carnartic or any south Indian music only when some body dies and there is are days of mourning in TV.
  
  For all other happy occation they call for all the tom dic k and harry of HM.
  Even if they call some CMusicans then it will be only MS (Those days), Balamurali or Jesudas (rarely). As if we don't have any other singers here.
  
  First we have to break this superiority complex of the NI guys. people like SAM only make things worse.

  Don't waste your breath. Lists will always be like that. You can't please everybody.Even in Tamil nadu level if you hand out awards there will be Chennai biasand a thanjavur bias people from dharmapuri or perambalur will feel let down. You can't help it. Of course TMS would have been better off without receiving this Padmasree.
  PSuseela not getting any awards does in no way make the Barath ratna " lata" better. It just happened that more people listened to her songs.But the sheer joy PS,TMS

  ( contd from above)PBS & MSV have given us is their reward. they are there in our hearts. This is the greatest award for them. Awards should be given when one is climbing the summit- as an incentive to climb greater heights. If they give awards now it is pathetic.
