in recent times, very rarely this greatest living genius sings in tamil movies.everybody knows he can sing any type of song with consummate ease.his voice is god's gift.nowadays he sings very rarely. Is it because that he dominated the tamil film industry for two decades or more that other's should sing? there are several lakhs of spb fans in tamil nadu. he is much more a tamil than a telegu. he lives in chennai only.evertime an album comes, people throng the music shop to find out whether spb is there but get dissapointed.please answer.

he has dominated for 20 years. I like spb but idont want to keep listening to him all the time. Its high time we have change and good competition for voices it raises the standard.

just because a person dominated for 20 years , it is totally unfair to deny him now. also his voice is as sweet as ever. the fact that he has dominated for more than 20 years itself shows the calibre and class. class should never be a casualty.

if his voice is so good and sweet. he can win any competition can't he???? if spb is that good. back him in case of competition. dont try and shut out any competition in the first place.
if he is so good but still overlooked. its like the indian cricket team who r so good only on paper?
spb isnt that bad for MD's to give him chances to prove his voice. The last i listned to him was "azhagaana ratchasiyee" in 1999 oct/nov. hmmm any other ARR songs after that.. or for that matter IR.
1 more thing for ppl living in the US and who have tried to organize spb shows and host him. they wud know how difficult a person spb is. too much "bandha" directly opp to what he potrays on TV. he expects working ppl to ditch work and show him arnd during weekdays. he is irritable and shouts at people as if they were his servants.
he demands good food all the time. 1 wonders if he is left on a motel and allowed to live on burgers and pizzas. people in awe worship him too much and he doesnt stop to take adavantage of them..
there were even web sites of tamil sangams were a place was totally dedicated to anti-spb postings.
spb! big deal. there will be 50 people stepping up to replace him in this 1.02 billion population country every second.

ooh..In the last 30 yrs of his singing he should have by now been submerged by those mushroom like talents..30 years have a lot of second..and the population was not very low :-)

like as if in tfm talent is the only criteria for opportunities.
MS please first spend sometime trying to go anywhere in tamil film industry or spend time with people who have tried.
I never said spb is not worth it orhe is not the best. In my opinion he is stands #1 among the singers i have heard. I am not patronising him or you. I dont need to.
Just that I dont think MOnopoly always indicates lack of alternative talent. I agree spb's initial selection was because of his own worth.
But it is a fact that new singers r coming up only for the last few years. and indeed as this forum correctly suggest. spb has been submerged in a shorter time than 30 years.
also its convenient to attack 1 single point in my posting and thereby decoupling it from the point i was making in the entire posting.
MS, its unfair to pick a particlar atom unless u r suggesting that u agree with the rest of it. which then is fine by me????

MS, you must have noticed from our earlier conversations that Bharath is full of nonsense. He cannot explain something in simple words. All he writes equates to nothing - like you multiply 2 sides of an equation by zero and say zero=zero. He calls this super logic if you know what I mean.

Sometimes to get rif of monopoly junk products come into play. This is exactly happening to TFM as far as our "beautiful" Tamizh rendering singers.

swamiji,
ever since i shut ur mouth in the thread "directors love letter" thread i thought i'd finally knocked some sense into u. but u have surfaced like the same idiot u ever were.
as to ur math IT SUX! plz swamiji i dont care what u think abt me or any other issue for that matter. I now firmly believe there cud'nt be a better idiot than u to walk on this planet.
No wonder most people here talk trash abt u...]
Normal Man:
I wudnt call, Unni menon, hariharan, unnikrishnan and shankar mahadevan junk talent. I agree udit narayan and sukhwinder singh r unwanted but they have faded away and only the better ones remain. I wudnt also think Harish raghavender is junk talent.

HoHoHo.. Bharath lets say that is true (which isnt), but YOU SPEAK TRASH ALL THE TIME hehe...
Bharath, you explain cheap gossips in rocket-science language (that too "dilettantish" hehe..) - and u call this "sense".

mr bharat, we are not bothered about spb as a person. each one has different experience. but do not you think that tfm has reached the lowest point since inception.alternate talent is always welcome but not by totally ignoring the existing class. sachin is playing for the last 12 years, but still laxman, dravid, ganguly etc came and are aiding cricket. by totally sideliining the existing class, building alternatives is total nonsense which we are witnessing now in tfm.by asking spb to sing one or two songs in a movie, nothing is going to prevent alternative talent. even that is not done. but if the existing directors belive that only by uprooting spb, new talent can be encouraged, then it is tfm's fate. no body can help it. we have to tolerate the bombay southerners etc .

Come on Mahesh...give SPB a break...you can't have the same kind of sweet or food everyday...this is the era of multi-brand/niche market...everybody can find a place...so with SPB. It is better he does a few songs and maintain his quality.

what really pains one is to see IR give better songs to HH & UK and honor SPB with`adidA mELaththa':-(

cosmician, spb needs a break. ok but cannot he be given atleast one sing in each film.are the music director afraid that he will take the credit? when ordinary singers like hh,uk are given good number of songs to sing , it sounds very bad to ignore spb totally. this can happen only here and nowhere else in the world. spb is out and out brought up in tamilnadu and it is strange that arr telling that spb and suseela are from telegu and very well accepted here.even music directors like deva who really climbed the ladder with spb's voice is not giving enough oppurtunities.in a recent programme oo la la la, it is spb who stole the show and the crowd was just waiting to hear is voice. this was even mentioned in the hindu and express newspapers. hope the music directors feel the pulse of the public .

I think spb shouldnt stop singing and Tamil MD's have to give a nice songs to him!!!Day by day his voice getting more better and still able to sing all kind of songs.Latha and Asha bonsele who are more older than SPB were still singing,so why not spb continue singing???

spb's voice is still good! not as bad as what lata's and s.janaki's has become now. he may have a good 3 years left in him.
But whats this. it looks as if u guys r all writing an obituary for spb. i really dont understand !!!! i am not current with IR albums. I believe ghis last song with ARR was "azhagana ratchasiye". so do u mean to say spb has not sung anything for the last 3 years with IR????
in anycase. I partly suspect spb is taking a sabatical of sorts or he himself is contemplating retirement. and i also dont have a problem listening to other new singers.
mahesh:
ganguly and dravid replaced manjrekar, kambli. azhar and jadeja were suitably replaced.. the current crop will also be suitably replaced. but not sachin. ah! as he is god and will live beyond time itself :-)
my point is even laxman for all the 281 hoo-haa cud loose his place by end of 2001-02 season. remember we have 2 tough tours ahead.
i wud go ahead and put spb in the ganguly/dravid class but tfm has no parallel to sachin! (ofcourse in my opinion!!:-) )

mr bharath, spb is don, gavvy, viv, sachin put togather. i think you have not heard any of spb's songs . that's why you bracket him with ganguly etc. please trace teja, gemini, scv, ushe channels and then comment on spb.then you will correct yourself.

ha ha I just burnt like 30 CD's with 95% spb songs last weekend.
again I wud re-iterate just because i like a person it doesnt mean I will blindly root for that person whatever the circumstances.
never have i in my prev postings said anything derogatory abt spb's voice or singing capabilities. it is possible that I may know more abt spb than you! (just maybe...)
in my opinion pbs is the best i have listened to. and with all due respects I will put KJY in front of spb, albeit only marginally.I have always suspected that KJY is IR's blue eyed boy! and KJY was called to IR's fav compositions. spb did have a fair chunk of it but thats an entirely different topic and its has a separate thread by itself so i wont delve into that!
I have had my full cup of spb and i want a taste of something else. maybe tfm needs a change also. it need'nt be dramataic or overnight but a gradual change is allright.
If I live for 60 years I wud'nt be happy dying as part of a monopolized audience. I want as much variety as much is available. no matter even if 99 out of 100 experiments fail. 1 other discovery who will match (0.5)*spb is worth all this.
of course there will be "the old school" people who will resist changes , but thats the way it works

any change should be for the better. not for the worse. it is good that you burnt several cd's of spb.i also request you to burn tms and finally tfm
