  First of all Vidyasagar is the MD for parthiban Kanavu and not YSR ,ARR ..
  This is my review ..
  
  1.Buck Buck ( oof lot of singers ..around 8 )
  It is very very different song ..It starts with the old gemini-MGR type tune ,goes to Illayraaraaj and ends like kadhal Pisasae ..Very different song ...8/10
  
  2.Enne Eeya -Karthik ,Kalyaani
  
  The same song ,only the modern part ..Ok song ...7/10
  
  3.Kana Kandaendi -Madhu Balakrishnan (or Yesudas??)
  
  Reminds of some Illayraaja song ..Loosk like a iLlayraaja is melodiously remixed ,but defintely not a copy ....ya i got the song ..Devathai pool oru peen engu from Gopurathin Vasililae ..
  
  4.Theeradha Dhum Venum ( DEVAN ???,Tippu ,Manicka Vinayagm )
  A kingfisher type of song...nice enjoyabale song ,nothings pecial in this anyway ..8/10
  
  5.Enan thavam ( harini ,Srikanth)
  Starts witha pure carnatic tune ,then slowly turns to folkish carnatic ( of course there is no term like that ) ....A nice enjoyable song ..I read that this song is similar to "Sipi irukuthu " ..No way .But this is definetly creative song ...The hero says a word ,the heroine describes that word ....9/10..

  Good songs.. all of them.
  
  Could have avoided lifting "Enna Seyya" directly off "Feugo" by the string quartet "Bond"... still a laudable effort.

  Alankuilkoovum rail is the best song in Kaapi raagam. Buck buck and Kanaa kandein are ok. The other songs are not good.

  I guess we shuld talk more abt the idea of buck buck...the songs show how music has changed over the years..

  aalankuyil padugayil (enna thavam seithanai ) is nice tune, lyrics and rendition. Harini shows good transition from a carnatic prelude to light ,film singing and back to swaras. The flute &violin interludes are awesome. The Q&A type of lyrics describing trendy and traditional interests of Tamil is unique . Lyrical contents "aaraam viral ", "kUnthal kuzhanthai", "nam nAngu kaNNil thOndrugindRa oRRai kanavallO?' are very much VM'ish.
  
  enna seiya , nan enna seiya is pick of the album, a nice foot tapper in recent times. VS has got the core rhythm and violin loop so catchy and lofty , the adjoining peppy tune adds beauty and adores the song.
  'Buck Buck Buck' starts with reminiscences of GR, KVM and uses the same tune as enna seiya . VS does multiple versions of the this tune and rhythm , still he brings some creative pieces into the song to make it appealing.
  In kanaa kandaenadi , the most appealing thing(and probably only) in this song is the sax pieces.
  
  Vaadi Machiniye is a nice themmangu presented with rocking uRumi drums. Dr. Siva chithambaram proves he is so versatile like his father and can notch up to standards of Pushpavanam in 'nAttu' pAdalgal.
  Among singers , the best of all is Harini, followed by Karthik , Sivachithambaram and Kalyani(or its it Sujatha?)
  This is one of the best in recent times with variety, must buy.

  All TFM DFers, Did you notice this awesomely creative MD, who has never been in the Lifting & Copying threads so far ?
  
  VS is No.1 MD in Mallu Films & ofcourse, he is approaching that spot in TFM rapidly.
  
  The most refreshing album from VS after a long array of Dandanakka stuff. TFM is changing .. for sure and for good.
  
  MDs like Deva are no where.

  What is Parthiban Kanavu but an amalgam of songs of various sorts heard thus far in TFM? One song (Enna seyya naan enna seyya) reminds me of the tunes of yester year Telugu Music Director Chakravarthy. One other song reminds me of a NSK song of ages past. There are other songs that remind the listener of this song or that. Where is the novelty?

  Kanaak Kandaenadi is a charming song, sung with sincerity by Madhu Balakrishnan. The influence of KJY can be seen in this young (??) singer, and that is not such a bad thing :-)
  I look forward to the forthcoming albums of Vidyasagar.

  But his ponounciation is quite bad. though in this song he's taken care of Zh (Vizhi etc), but in l/L sodhappal. Sometime in a good song line KK, it is too jaarring.

  Oh Bak Bak Bak Bak, Bakkum Bakkum mAdappuRA, is from an old B&W film, "Chithi" I think.
  
  KanA kaNden is a good song sung well by Madhu B, after his excellent "Edhilum Ingu" (Bharathi) and a decent "PiLLai ThAmarai" (Album).
  Naaz, you're right. Madhu is very much a young singer (in his 20's) and I believe is based in a small town in Kerala. Perhaps he would get more offers in Tamil if he shifts base to Chennai like his seniors did (but then how can one explain the regular invitation of Udit Narayan by Vidyasagar in almost every album of his, all the way from Bombay?)
  Harini sprung a pleasant surprise in the Alanguyil song.
  Overall, a good album by VS. And thanks to the movie's good reviews and publicity, the music is also getting appreciated, unlike KR's good score in "Album", which largely went unnoticed thanks to poor publicity and a not-so-good film. VS must be a happy man.
  
  By the way, looks like someone here is trying his/her level best to promote Tippu (in the names of Archana, Anjan and Nizam). Keep up the PR work!
  I remember someone say earlier in T Rajendar style, "Dey Tippu.. Nee padarathe tappu" :)
