Lyricists other than Kannadasan,Vaali and VM

Kannadasan,Vaali and VM had always been the heroes of any discussion thats related to lyrics. Very often lyrics of other kavignars are assumed/mistaken to be written by these 3. This thread is an effort to come out with songs that were written by kavignars other than these 3

  RVUdhayakumar is a good lyricist too. songs from
  'Yejamaan','ponnumani','chinna kounder','nandhavana theru'had nice lyrics written by him.
  
  
  TRajendar is the other lyricist worth mentioning.
  He was very good in varthai prayogam. Have anyone listened to the 'paarkadalil thathalithu'song from
  raagam thedum pallavi??
  
  He describes the kaadhal tholvi of the kadhanayagan as

  Easy buddy, you can't come to any conclusion about the impact of poets based on the response to this thread. Only a few of us bother to remember who wrote what song. Even a discriminating listener doesn't always know the correct songwriter because it doesn't get discussed much. Given the domination of Kannadhaasan in his time, everything was assumed to be done by him. Same goes for VM.
  
  But to most people a song is just a song they heard on the radio or saw in a movie, few people bother to find out who wrote a song. Most people seem to remember MDs, singers, and movies better than lyricists. That's just the way it is, has been, will be.

  I completely concur with your choice of Mu. Mehta songs. There are a few more that have impressed me -
  Unnai thAnE thanjam enRu nambi vandhEn nAnE,
  Chittukku sella chittukku oru siRagu muLaithadhu (Nallavanukku nallavan)
  Dorai maNi patharai (Michael Raj), etc.

  Yes, the songwriter is'nt discussed/noticed much, compared to the lyrics itself. In fact, a vast majority of the listeners confine their interests to the song alone, and not even the MDs. Then again, there are many who prefer to concentrate on the music aspect, and not the lyrics that much. So, ippadi irukka, lyricists do receive a raw deal. Still, people like Kannadasan and VM get noticed by their outstanding pieces of work.

  Viswa 'unnai thanae'is by VM and 'chittukku sella'
  is by Na Kamarasan.

  Nice to note the lines of TR. His songs in maithili ennaik kAthali are good too. Especially, in thaNNEEril Odum Odam nAnE.. he writes

  Another MG.Vallaban song is kaNmalargaLin azhaippithazh.. from thaip pongal. I think OdaththilE kaNNEEru.. from karai kadantha oruththi (music by GA) and few other songs in the same film are by GAV
  
  Another infrequent lyricist who gave a very good song is MathukkOOr Kannan. His song aLLith thantha bOOmi annaiyallavA.. for naNdu is worth mentioning. Ramki, do you remember any song from yAAr, Kannan has written a few songs in that film (directed by him, after this film, he is known as "yAAr kaNNan"..)
  
  ANother good lyricist of yester years is Alangudi sOmu. He has written all songs for Jaishankar's debut film iravum pagalum (music : TR.pApA). His songs iravum varum pagalum varum, iraNdum onRuthAn and another duet (Bones, unakku nyAbagam irukkA..?) are good.

  I just remembered another song from "Ellorum Nallavarae", by Pudhumaippiththan. "Padaiththaanae Brahmadevan" May be PP did all songs from that film, can you confirm guys?
  
  One of my favorite songs by Piraisoodan is,"Kaalaithendralil eththanai sandhangal" from Mangai Oru Gangai. I wonder what happened to him.
  
  Ramki, you had wondered aloud why many of these guys never made it. I remember reading Na. Kaamaraasan's reason for putting away his pen. It seems around the time after "Oh Maanae" became a monster hit, IR was interested in using NK. But also, back then (maybe even now) IR had a habit of giving the first word or the pallavi for a song before letting the lyricist take over. IR asked NK to complete a song with the starting lines "Ottikkavaa machchaan enna kattikkavaa machchaan". NK politely declined the opportunity and said that maybe he shouldn't be writing song lyrics. This, NK had recalled in Kumudham several years ago.

  Pagalavan AS has written some really nice songs like
  oru kodiyil iru malargal-kanchi thalaivan
  enna paravai siragadithu vinnil parakkindradha-karhtigai deepam
  and my fav
  ullathin kadhavugal kangalada-iravum pagalum.
  
  In this song he writes:

  In janani there is excellent song by KJY'mannikka mattaya'-this is a wonderful song with nice lyrics.

  Udhaya MGVallaban wrote the song'kaalai thendralil ethanai vannangal'in MOG.
  
  Piraisoodan was busy in middles 80s...writing many thrashy songs under IRs music.

  About, piRai soodan, I thought he entered TFM in 90's. Do you remember any of his songs?
