In short teh review says ....
Karthik Raja has shown enough flair and finesse to coming up with a cute village-flavored music. There is more than a touch of Ilayaraja in many songs. That is the strength as well the weakness of the album.

Have heard the songs. Will post more in detail later. Initial thoughts, 3 songs are the best works of KR , overall a great album. Paathu PO is very good.
Keep up the good job KR.

Listener ,
Great news !!! i remember u were one the first few guyz to give a review on KudaikkUl Mazhai ...
Iam happy for the fact that inspite of being a vijaykanth movie ,KR has given good songs ...( it i svery difficult to get inspiration for a vijaykanth movie ..is it not ??)
Reports also indicate the movie is atleast good if not great !!!

Finally, I was able to adjust my cassette player to play the "B" side of "Niranja Manasu" :)))
listened to all songs - except 'kiLappu kiLappu', all others are very good numbers - Esp., "Paarththu poo" is wonderful, with very nice lyrics by Na. Muthukumar, justice to them by shreya also :)
I liked the duet also, But I don't know who are the singers, its missing in the cassette cover :( ... male singer could be unni krish ...

Ramki,
I too am very glad that KR has done something nice and different. I am writing this with a disclaimer; I have heard the songs over phone from India, and have not heard the originals. Have not done this before, except for a few ARR and IR albums lately.
Firstly, the comment from my cousin, who played the songs through the phone for me, "Mottaioda payyan, kalakkitaan paa" :) (IR's son has done something - translation in context). I too have felt the same, after repeatedly hearing 3 songs. KR has challenged IR in his own different manner.
He has rightly practiced the lessons learned from his dad I guess; melody, melody, melody, colourful, seamless and easy flowing, interesting patterns, fresh, complex rhythms, …...
As in KKM, I am not able to rate the best song, between Muthukuluchu and Paathu PO. I am going to take Muthu kuluchi for now.
This song, according to me, the best composed song by KR as of date. straight from the school of IR as mentioned above. It is raagam based (I think the same raagam as “Thalayai gunuyum thamaraiye”), nice kottu and tabla rhythm with interesting interludes. Sounds very simple, yet complex in the composition and arrangement. A very naughty song in the feel that it renders, reminding you of the yester Raaja days. KR has once again proved his mastery over violin; the prelude and the first interlude he has fused Indian classical with a Scottish touch…..Kudos KR.
Overall a folk based album by KR. Will write more later. Wondering why he never did this before.
Thanks

karthik once again got bad male singers this time , he should have definitely had SPB and Hariharan rather than going for TIppu and karthik and sriram , but songs are good , poor inlay card spoils everything as the songs are not in the order said

I wonder hpw these intelligent reviewers bash the music ..I would say these reviewers hardly do the job !!!
1.First of all he should not have prejudice in seeing the film ..
2.Second he should see it atleast wtice ..
3.WIth regard to the music he shoudl hear it in CD atleast 2-3 times ,then view the movie and then comment ......Because of these irrresponsible reviewers ,good albums like album ,Kudaikkul mazhai ,neranja manasu ( seems to be good as peopel say ) suffer ..
