  V kumar, one of the unsung success storeis of 70's Tamil film music.
  With out any doubt, he defined and refined melody in TFM in his own way.
  It is unfortunate that he worked in a decade, where
  TF was at large medicore in its film making.
  Most of the films, he worked were such a crap that, even their own directors
  could not remember them now. Scanning his filmography, it is so sad to
  see, he never had many big films or blockbuster films.
  But that never stopped him in scoring such wonderful songs.
  
  Every song of him, amazes me endlessly, whenever I discover them, and
  it is the toughest discovery of all. I can not say whether it is that
  inherient melody or that zippy smoothness or that wonderful percussoins,
  they are always unique and bears his stamp. He was at easy in composing
  ever lasting melodies like 'Unnidem mayanguren' or 'Valvil sowbaggium'
  and at same time able to give such smooth sailing songs like 'Unnai valthi
  padugren', 'Mogum ennum ragam padum'.
  He was never attained the levels of MSV, KVM in terms of productivity.
  It is hardly the reason for not giving the recogination, he deserved.
  Even his death( jan 96), could only find a place in a 3rd page sidelines, in the local
  papers, and most of them have already forgetten him.
  It is not surprising, considering the fact that TFM recoginzes and
  appreciates only the likes of IR, MSV, ARR and others are just forgotten.
  
  I tried to list his films and songs, which I know and have collected.

  The site is mainly devoted to IR, but I just couldnt overlook MSV and VK :-)
  
  You will need Real Audio 4.0 player to enjoy the music. Since the server is located in Europe, the best time to achieve good bandwidths is when it is night/early morning here i.e. around evening/late night in the USA and Canada. Watch my home page, since I am running out of IR stuff, I will be adding more MSV and VK stuff.

  VK gave a different (and uncharacteristic of his style) song in annapooraNi, sung by KJJ. The song is unnaip paarkka vENdum..pEsavENdum..pazhagavENdum..rasikkavENdum... It was a hit too. (May be that was his last film). He later moved to chinnaththirai, I guess.

  I think his last film is in 90's. I forget
  the film name. It has horrible cost, pandiyan
  as classical dancer, with suda chandran and
  some london based producer/director. Film was dud.
  I have no idea about the music, though I am +ve about Vkumar co scoring music for this film.

  eHari the film is 'thanga thamarai'or somethingand IM very
  POSITIVE that the MD is MSV.The only aarudhal factor in the film was music.

  Atrocious is the right word. Imagine Pandian dancing Bharathanatyam. But we digress, sathiya.
  
  I remember reading V.Kumar's interview in some magazine (kumudham?) about 10-12 years back, where he mentioned having copied a hindi tune for the song 'nAnE varuvEn ingum angum'. And I thought 'Et tu, V.Kumar?' :-)

  Naane Varuven is copied from Naina Barse Rim Jhim Rim Jhim. I dont remember the movie ( Woh Kaun Thi ? maybe ) but I think it stars Manoj Kumar.

  There is a duet by TMS(singing for Kamalhassan) and Swarna in 'thensindhudhe vaanam'. Im not able to recollect it now
  
  'Niraikudam'is the only Sivaji film VK has worked.Are there any good songs in this film??
