Interviewer: What is your secret of failure?
ARR: My secret is to be totally repetitive.
I tried my best not to do it. But i
am not able to avoid it. I consulted with
Deva and Anumallik about copying. They told
me 'don't worry indian fans are not smart
enough to find those things'. So i followed
their advice
Interviewer: How did then people find out?
ARR: What to do? I totally forgot there is a group called civic music fans who seem to know what is music. They exposed me like clinton was exposed.
Interviewer: What is your next plan?
ARR: To continue copying..
Interviewer: What?
ARR: I just said civil music fans found out. My
fans are fools.. They have not found out yet.
Some stupid Directors and Producers are yet to find out.
Interviewer. Do you think Sirpy is a threat to u?
ARR: No..
Interviewer: Why
ARR: He doesn't have the CD collection I do. no problem
Interviewer: How come you are so slow?
ARR: See i am not spontaneous like IR. To
ensure quality in all my songs, I have to recall some older songs, get a new singers like Hariharan and then I will have one new song! It just takes a long time for me to listen to a lot of CDs.
Interviewer: What is your goal in your life
ARR: To copy as many foreign artists as possible before they find out and sue me.
Interviewer: Do you think you can do it?
ARR: Konjam kashtamdhan, but hope i can.
Interviewer: Why is Baba and KM failures just like
all your earlier movies?
ARR: I don't care. my fans are fooled. err, they like the songs. that is all that matters isnt it?
Interviewer: why do your songs sound similar?
ARR: My fans will never find out that. Good thing about my fans is they are all dumb. And they are all so vulnerable. I can say Symphone, and they will create homepages on it for me. I don't have to really do any thing.
Interviewer: Good luck with your copying Thanks
ARR: Thanks

“I am afraid (literally !)that my questions are still not answered.Just waiting for the meanigful and correct answers.I was eagerly awaiting a case of recognition for his BGM from someone other than the forum memebers.Trickle..trickle..Where is the ocean i was supposed to get?”
So many. So many critics in the reviews have mentioned abt his BGM. Most importantly, the very people who know abt movies ie. the filmakers and actors have mentioned his BGM in every media including SUN TV etc. Ask your friends around who like Indian movies(not the limited ones u have here), they'll tell you.
OK. Now if u're going to ask to prove or dig out all this articles or tv shows then I can only pity you for missing them.
“Actually some of the attempted answers gives rise to more questions. If IR has really won an award for BGM alone how come some other MD also managed the same award ....considering his towering presence in the fray!Ever since the awards were instituted was he the only one to win?
Natural answer is NO!That means there are other MDs who are good at BGM.Where is the list?Hope there wont be arguments saying that the award committe faltered in all "OTHER" years.”
I didn't even know they give awards for BGM in India. It sounds more like a pathetic joke if they do. I mean, when did this start & how they determine this I don't know. Just to think of who the vetthalai eating guy with his black umbrella under his shoulders and wearing a pair of sandals deciding on which BGM is good makes me laugh. Come on, even oscars for best score has lost its credentials(since late 70s) when it became so commercial. And to think abt the backward committee of India....geez,pls!
“This Agni Nakshthram BGM is terribly jacked up.Fortunately ( hope so!)managed to see the movie in SUN last week.Climax....”
Got no idea what you talking abt.
“1.How many movies have run simply because of IRs rerecording?”
Too many. Function of a BGM is to enhance a movie. Lift it. IT SHOULD NEVER OVERPOPULATE OR MAKE THE MUSIC ITSELF STAND OUT. Keep watching the filmakers interviews on TV every now and then. Its on TV all the time. They have and will point out specific scenes.
“2.Has he managed any recognition at the state, national,Asian, international levels for his BGM ?”
I don’t know abt this(personally and don’t care abt this!). IR never markets his music. When IR used an orchestra for Hey Ram that news got ard into the Hindi circle and that is why R.Santoshi requested him to do the BGM for Lajja. This I how publicity seeks IR. Its never the other way round in his case.
“3.Has he won any awards (say like Filmfare,Zee ,IIFA etc ) for his BGM?( i hear Adhesh Srivatsava won a Filmfare or Zee award for his BGM in "Border") “
May be he did and may be he didn’t. Who are these guys(esp.when they know nuts) to decide how good IR music is?
“4.Who would you rate as the other good BGM scorers at the national ,international levels? (apart from the staple answer "Nobody")-[This is just to determine where he stands vis-a-vis "Them"] “
In India:
Salil Chowdury
G Ramanathan
Naushad
Shankar Jaikishan
SD Burman
International:
Max Steiner
Alfred Newman
Miklos Rozsa
Franz Waxman
Bernad Hermann
Alex North
Elmer Berstein
Henry Mancini
Jerry Goldsmith
John Barry
Ennio Morricone
John Williams
John Scott
Georges Delerue
Basil Poledouris
Bruce Broughton
Rachel Portman
"5.Why is he not getting offers to score BGM for Hollywood movies when his credentials are extraordinary as per your judgement?"
Why is Maniratnam getting the call from Hollywood if he’s the best or one of the best? Why isn’t Kamalhassan getting the call too? How are the Hollywood people supposed to know abt him? One person writes a letter to them? Please find out how the Hollywood system works before you ask this question.
"6.Are there any awards instituted by our govenments for BGM ...like the ones for special effects, editing? If they exist has he won anything? If it does not why don tyou guys make a representation to the government?(But if the Governement accepts your representation and gives the award to some other MDs .....)"
Seriously, do we need a BGM award from betel leafs & nuts?
“7.Mention some scenes wherein without his BGM the scene would have fallen flat pulling down the whole movie.”
Go and rent Poovizhi Vaasalile, Mundanai Muduchu, Kathalukku Mariyathai, and Unnai Naan Santhithen. You will find a lot of scenes there. And YES, without the BGM, the movie would have crashed!
“8.Are there any movies by other MDs in which the BGM was ...say..Ok!?”
I like some bits in Jeans and other bits in some other films by ARR but can’t remember now. Try some old watching old movies by Raj Kapoor like Mere Naam Joker or any old movies by Shanker-Jaikishen and Naushad.
“I shall request all non-IR fans not to post in this thread.Lets listen!”
Dar u go.
“Thaye Mathurakali!Vaideeswara!(Our family deities) enna kappathu! “
Lets wait & see if you are gonna be saved :)
Waiting for your reply.

Are Yaar,
You said this recently and ran away. That's when many people realized what you are and how much knowledge things like you & OISG have. And you still used it to project out your intelligence.
"No doubt. John(Scott), a conductor, might not be a great composer as you say (come on don't exagerate) said that he liked IR's composition. Ya I have read the letter."
Listen to these.

http://webhome.idirect.com/~rlevy/colette.ram
You can go and see the Hugh Hudson movie GREYSTOKE:THE LEGEND OF TARZAN, LORD OF THE APES. and THE FINAL COUNTDOWN. See it(& listen too!) to believe it.
I have actually done you a favour. Normally I don't waste my freakin time doing this for craps. So you better appreciate it.
Its bad enuf what you're trying so unsuccessfully & foolishly trying to do to a LEGEND but don't ever carry this over to Mr.Scott or any other composer you know di*knuts about.
