AR Rahman's Tamil Blockbuster "BOYS"

Rahman's much anticipated "Boys" is set to release soon and everyone is keen on finding out more about this album. Who are the singers? What are the soundtracks like? When is the release date? Will the album be delayed? If anyone has any idea; please post here....

Here is what i found::

Typical of Shankar, the director is not prepared to say much about the film at this point. However, it is known that the film will be very youthful, almost teeny-bop, in content, with the majority of the cast being in the 16-23 age group.

Shankar, apparently, has decided to cast all new faces in his film – and the younger the better.

In fact, a mention in various Tamil periodicals, and an accompanying advertisement to the effect that Shankar was looking for new faces, has created a headache of sorts for the producers. Curriculums vitae have been pouring in to the Surya Movies post box ever since the ad and the story ran in the vernacular press – and last heard from, the flood shows no signs of abating.

Curiously enough, the ad appears – thanks to emails and discussion groups – to have reached an audience abroad as well, with the result that newer batches of applications have US, British and suchlike stamps on them, which suits the producer and director fine since the film does incorporate a lot of NRI faces.

For Shankar, Boys will be a return to romance after Kadhalan, and to comedy after the Aishwarya Rai-Prashanth starrer Jeans. Though the film will feature fresh – and ergo, inexpensive – faces, Shankar maintains that the film will be typical of his style, which means lavish budgets, and expensive production values.

  Guys,
  
  I saw Boys in DVD. Movie was vulgar to the extreme and the opposition to the movie is required.
  
  When I heard the songs, I liked for the freshness. But when I saw them in the movie, I feel the nativity is thoroughly compromised just to give different feel in all the songs. Most of the boys are tamils and they will sing in Non Tamil Accent!!
  
  I think Shankar should not have gone that far on a Tamil Movie and I don't know how it escaped censar.

  nah ...al of uz r lost...coz Boyz was a different movie.....rnt ya'll sik of ceein crap tamil moviez wit de same luv story....in Boyz, we r viewin reality,but all dese stupid typical tamil moviez r gettin on mah nervez.   Whatever said and done, boys is bit over by any standard.
  
  "Realitynnu solittu ethai venunalum kaatalam." I mean things happening between husband and wife with full proportion. Even in hollywood there is a limit for that? correct? ellatti edukku X, XX and XXX thaniya movie vidaranga?
  
  Whoever it is, please don't justify this level of vulgarity in Tamil movies. Our audience are not ready to take this level of vulgarity at this point in time.

  Hey Guys and culture!
  We are from Indian culture. We differentiate us from western culture with lots of things. There are lot of good things we can absorb from West. Movies like Boys and TI would not make us proud. Showing a guy running naked in West is possible have you ever seen this happening here in India. In west having sex public or women going topless is accepted. Directors of Boys and Ti should be banned forever just for taking attempt to spoil our culture.

  The sad part was that most of the movies they arrived in were cliched love stories that failed to display any freshness or novelty. The biggest and most disappointing of the lot was Shankar's Boys. While the initial portions were unimaginably vulgar, the second half was a retread of the usual forming-a-band-and-succeeding story that has been seen several times before.

  Boys is surely not the first Tamil film in which teenage boys indulging in atrocious sexual acts are shown.....what I'm wondering is if these damn Directors r trying to make a generalisation on all Teenagers (Boys) by projecting them that way in their films......surely not all of us r/were like that as teenagers!   oh yeh and a comment when i was watching the movie it shows the cd gettin labeled and there are 10 songs on the cover the 7 songs in the movie then kadha randha ganame (the song playing when harini runs away ) which the cd cover in the movie says is 4 min and 30 sum odd second and then 2 other songs which werent in the movie on the back cover of the cd in the movie. i wonder wat happened to those songs?

  Piratheepan,
  BOYS would have been a hit movie if it were directed by Selvaraghavan or people of that sort. It was just shocking for the people to find these things in a Shankar movie.
  Many people have such feelings, alright, but do you mean to say you can watch this with your dad and mom without a problem? Certain things are enjoyable if you are with you friends but the most embarassing if you are with your parents/relatives. Boys was one such movie and I don't think there can be a different view on this.
  
  And I guess you are wrong that all the teens have such feelings. I would disagree on that. There are different kinda people in this world! :-)
  
  btw...What are you talking about in you second post? Your thoughts just flow and your sentence just doesn't seem to end!! :p I nearly beat Shankar Mahadeva's "Breathless"! :-)
