Friends,

Shall we discuss about some all time
great Lyrics in TFM by any Lyricist independent
of which Era in TFM!

Lyrics should be peculiar in writing, peculiar
in meaning, different in thinking, it has to be
different from the usual ones. It has to be
Unique in its approach/writing!

I shall give a few examples of some Lyrics
which I feel is very different and unique in its
style of writing, meaning and thinking!

  Among the recent songs,the one that has become my favourite is 'aedho oru pattu'from Unnidathil ennai koduthen. The lyrics has been penned by a new kavignar(Mano can u help me here)and the music is by SAR. There are 3 versions of this song,sung by SUjatha,UNnikrishnan And Hariharan. The lyrics are different for the male and the female version. I like both the versions. Let me start with female's

  Ramki, that's a pretty cool song, thanks for sharing that. I was listening to this old gem by the MSV-Kannadhaasan dream team and I couldn't help but cheer the depth and ease of Kannadhaasan's lyrics.

  Maybe it's something to do with plain nostalgia, but whoever wrote "alli thandha boomi" from Nandu (KD/VM?) did a great job. esp. the lines

  kangalin seedhanam thano....
  palli chendra kaala paadhaigale
  paalangal, maadangal aaha!.....
  
  It's a perfect synchronisation of things, M.Vasu's singing, IR's music, Mahendran's mood setting in the film.. I just can't get this out of my mind.
  KD's lyrics for "Kanne Kalaimane", VM's for "andhi mazhai", Vaali's "amma endrazhaikkadha" are good samples.
  
  Another recent one that I really liked was from "Aathangara marame" in "kizhakku cheemaiyile"
  VM's lines in the charanam
  
  aithaye maaman sugam thaana
  aathile meenum sugam thaana
  thoppile thennai maramum sugam thaana
  thotta poo ellam sugam thaana
  thodatha poovum sugam thaana.....
  
  esp. the line - "anname unnaiyum ennaiyum ootti valartha thinnai sugam thaana.." brings home the exact situation in the movie so pictorially. It's great work from the ARR/VM combo, except that I thought that the starting line of the song "aathangara marame" sounded too harsh (maybe the words or singing or the tune) in comparison to the subtle rhythms that follow.
  
  I've heard a great song from a recent Bhagyaraj bomb "Gnanappazham" for which I believe he himself did the music. The song is "Yaarum illadha theevondru vendum". I can't recall the lines clearly as I've listened to it only a few times in bits and pieces, but they were really very good. Can anyone with the song post the lyrics?
  
  IMO the best lyrics in TF is Bharathi's
  "Kakkai Chiraginile". I think this and "Sindhu Nadhiyin Misai" can be redone in innumerable ways with modern music and still remain enchanting. True timeless classics!!
