One Time Wonders!

Have you ever wonndered why there are so many one-timers in TFM? I have. :-))

It's amazing why some of the good ones are not sought after. I hope to discuss some of these splendid one-timers, both old and new, and maybe examine why they were neglected.

  A couple of MD's that come to my mind are
  
  1. Ranjit Barrot of VIP (Minnal oru koadi vanthathei, Mylu mylu mylamma)
  2. Jerry-Philips of Thotta Sinungi (Manamey thotta sinungi thaaney
  
  Do not limit to MDs alone. Please include singers, lyricists, etc. For instance why not Kadri Gopinath, who gave an excellent performance in Malaysia last week?

  NOV: Another MD who vanished with one movie is Rajesh Kanna, who scored for some Ramarajan, MP, movie some time back, starring Sripriya and Gouthami also.

  The movie was "Namma Ooru Nayakan".
  
  Then there was this music director called M. Ranga who scored the music for "Kudumbam Oru Koil". He was said to be the guitarist once in Ilaiyaraja's orchestra.
  
  Babul Bose is another example. He scored the music for "Nanbargal" (Shobha Chandrasekaran).

  I think Thayanban (Andru Peydha Mazhayil) was also a one-film wonder (although he has been pretty active in Tamil serials on Madras DD).

  Another one-and-exactly-one-timer was MSV. RAJA
  of KaRuppu Roja. I think he wanted to be the best
  and had his original name changed to have the
  two all time greats of TFM.
  
  I liked atleast 3 songs from that movie - produced
  by writer Indhumathi.
  
  I guess, while these one-timers waiting for their
  US Visa - they don't know what todo and CHUMMA oru
  padathukku music pOtuttu - visa kidaichathum -
  "live happily everafter"ngra pseudo feelingudan kiLambituvAnga!!!
  
  Roshana Begam of "kungumap pottin mangalam" was
  another one-timeri.
  
  Another one timer (may be 1.5 - not sure) who came
  with "nAn oru thadavai pOttA 100 thadavai pOtta mAthiri"nu vandhavar (also pOnavar) - that
  "7vathu Manithan" MD - I forgot his name -
  was it Rajkumar Bharathi ???

  BalaBharathi too is very good - he scored the music for a film starring ajit

  Balabarathi adn Narasimhan are hardly one film wonders. Mahesh is still around and scoring music for another movie. I read his interview recently.. apparently he is now recovering from his *second* attack of cancer. I was amazed at his tenacity.

  7 vathu Manithan released in 1983 or so was the only one by L Vaidyanathan. The movie has two or three classic numbers comparable with any Ilaiyaraja superhit song. Particularly, the song Kakkai Chirakkinile sung KJY.

  Nithin: Not true. LV has scored music for a Sarath Kumar movie, dasarathan.. we have discussed LV's TF contribution elsewhere.. it is becoming difficult to keep track :-).

  Viswanath The kdumbam oru koil, kangal mani theebam was a decent song. Was it a Visu movie?
  Also gauging on Thayanban's Andru Peydha Mazhayil, it is no wonder he is a one-film wonder.
  
  bones - If he had wanted the best of TFM, this huys name should have been Viswaraajara(h)man. :-)) (I hope this doesn't give ideas to Deva or he might call himself Devaviswarajaraman!)
  
  bhava - Mahesh of Nammavar is exactly the kind of people I am refering to. Ravi - Is he really scoring for another movie?
  
  Bhaskar - I don't mind being wrong in this instance. :-))
  I'm glad if chances are given to people such as these for the general betterment of TFM.
  
  BTW, has Bombay Jeyasree sang in other movies since Iruvar?

  NOV: Mahesh scord the music for kurudhipunal also. After that he had to undergo treatment for cancer and hence was missing from the field.

  There was this MD called "sivaji raaja" who was the MD for kaaRRukkenna vEli. He was introduced by Panju AruNachalam too (?). Couple of good songs in it (rekha..rekha..kaathal ennum vaanavillaik kaNdEn etc.) but disappeared from TFM later.

  Havn't heard of Sangeetha Rajan in MFM!!(Might be that he has changed his name :-)))
  
  In Indian, ARR uses Nirmala Seshadri's voice in the Thantha nane.. segement of Pachaikiligal tholodu.... Has she sung in any other movies???
  
  Also an MD by name Anand did the music for Shakthi.. Has this guy got any assignments now...(He has one Hindi film Zor to his credit alonwith two others) fellows..)

  Arvind its the azhagan song. 'Sadhana sargam'was first brought to tamil by Vidya saagar for 'thedhi partha thendral veesum'(Coimbatore Mappilai)
