Well, there can be no doubt about the fact that these three are the best singers in TFM at the moment. But of the three, who's the best? It seems to me that the vast majority of TFM fans feel that it is Unni Krishnan, but I feel that Srinivas is a more versatile singer. Of course, technically he is not as perfect; at very high pitches his voice does sound funny, but I feel that he is more versatile, i.e. capable of singing all styles of music, while Unni Krishnan is better at Carnatic and Indian light music. I feel that Shankar Mahadevan is also similarly talented, i.e. has a voice that suits both Indian Classical and Western-style pop music, but his voice lacks the "lightness" that characterizes Srinivas.
In summing up, I would like to say that in my opinion, Srinivas is a vastly-underrated singer.
What are your comments? It would be really nice to have the experts's comments here, i.e. J Srikkanth, Naveen Jebaraj, Aditya, etc., etc.

let us list all the songs sung by these singers under category say classical or light music type...Then we can analyse their singing abilities exhibited so far....how about adding some more singers like Harish, SPB Charan...so on.
Interesting thread.

Madhu Balakrishnan is THE GUY. Watch out for him. He's going to rule TFM, MFM and TelFM like Yesudas.
We are proud to have found a great singer amongst the mediocrity that seems to be ruling Tamil film music.
I am particularly impressed with his debut(in Tamil) song in Bharati: "Ethilum Ingu Iruppaan Avan yaaro".
It is such a well-designd score. One doesn't just hear Madhu, the singer rendering his lines. One also gets to hear the undercurrent of feelings that reveal themselves layer after layer.
The devotion brought about by Madhu is commendable, aptly aided by the fresh-as-morning breeze raga, Rasika Ranjani. The orchestration is so soothing, one can virtually be in a temple listening to a devotee singing in praise of Lord Shiva. The number encompasses a serene sea of bhakti rasa, resonating the speechless poetry of the devotee's heart in words and melodies that exude restraint and harmony. Pulamai Pithan, the lyricist does a remarkable job with his command over Tamil poetry. There have been very few such classical lyrics of late in Tamil film music. Madhu has done full justice to the classic poetry by his near-perfect diction (a rare breed indeed, in these days of careless, accented rendition by generation-now singers, including the threesome mentioned above).
He has a voice that has got depth. Hopefully he gets to use it to the fullest. Hope he does not join the brigade of nasal singers (even if it seems to be the 'in' thing to do these days). He will have to establish himself as a versatile singer, else he may be easily slotted. Though his voice reminds many of Yesudas, he seems to be making a consicous attempt to establish his own distinctive style, which is commendable.
Here's wishing him all the very best.

Madhu is a good Carnatic singer no doubt, but would his voice suit Western styles or other non-carnatic styles of music? I think it's funny that noone agrees with me on Srinivas being the best.
Consider this: there are several classically trained singers around, but none of them could have sung "Minsaara poovae" from "Padaiyappa" with the effortless smoothness that Srinivas showed in that song. I think that has a beauty of its own. Srinivas also has good pronunciation.

I think in today's TFM - Hariharan is tops - there are others in his shadows and Madhu Balakrishnan is one of them.

Mr.Unni Krishnan is my choice. He can sing both Carnatic and Light Music in a very attractive way.
He is capable of giving a concert fylly on samprathaya carnatic. And also capable of giving the same carnatic songs with lightness so as to enable a common man also enjoy it. For example I would like to sight his song "Kannane En Kanavan" sung in Kalyani ragha. This is only an example. I can sight many such songs.
Please accept my thanks for giving me this opportunity to give you a feed back. Long live the artist Sri.Unni Krishnan.
