National Film Awards – Misses and Wins
http://www.thehindu.com/news/cities/...cle5919756.ece
It’s very heartening to hear that Balu Mahendra’s last film won the award for Best Film for National Integration. It was predicted that Balu’s movie would bag few awards. Tamil films bagged five awards including Best Lyrics for Na. Muthukumar. At the same time, I am disappointed that Maestro wasn’t awarded the Best Background Score for Onnayum A. Shantanu Moitra bagged the Best Background score for the Telugu film “Na Bangaaru Talli”. Shantanu’s earlier soundtrack for Hindi films like Parineeta and Eklavya were good. I haven’t watched the Bangla or Telugu film to comment on the music score. Shantanu did a good job of background score for Madras Café but Raaja’s OA score was superb. If anyone has watched these movies, please post your comments on the music score.
The Bangla film “Jaatishwar” bagged the music awards. Veteran singer and composer Kabir Suman, also very popular among the Bangladeshis, bagged the award for Best Music Direction for Jaatishwar. The film also won the awards for Best Playback Singer Male (Rupankar), Best Costume and Best Makeup. The Best Female Playback singer was bagged by Bela Shende for a Marathi film. Bela has sung many Tamil songs.

Once again, the Film Awards committee doesn’t publish the full results. We want to know which films were nominated and the scoring results for each category. Someone should file a RTI to publish the full set of results. As you all know, the biggest irony was “Sree Rama Rajyam” missing the award for best musical score two years ago because the preview theater had a bad audio system.

Any body heard about this? I neither understand this nor I understand the relevance 23 years later.
