வெட்டவெளி பொட்டலிலே - Listening to this haunting solo by S Janaki Amma for the first time. Thank you rajaramsgi.

Amazing tune.. The 2nd interlude had some very unsettling portions.

Janaki Amma of course excels in her rendition. Be it her emotions, clarity of words or perfect intonation..

Thank you mappi for the unsung gem, 'Vandhaale Allippoo' from Kan Sivanthal maN sivakkum. If the original master is still available, it can be easily used as is, without any change in today's movies, even after 35 years!! Guitar, sitar, drums and a smooth-as-silk voice of a young Raja! Wow!

ThrumagaL varugayil manamuruguthu vegu naaLaaga naaLaaga..

Did you notice that the scene starts with two gurus teaching Bharatanatyam. They are none other than the legendary dance couple, Smt Shanta and Sri Dhananjayan.

While K P. Brahmanandan's rendition of 'Santhak KavigaL Padidum' is great, can't help wondering what it would have sounded like had Jayachandran sung it? Especially with regards to the pronunciation and the precision in finishing the lines of charanam

I think Brahmanndan has sung a song with Yesudas under Dakshinamurthy's music direction in the film, 'Sri Guruvayurappan'.

    Thank you, a wonderful information.

Janaki is my favourite, and I am inclined towards the vocal, redention and modulation of Malaysia Vasudevan.

Here is a song Payum Puli from Kuva Kuva Vathugal that I listen to regularly just for the arrangements for wind instruments and Janaki's pitch which she seems to casually vary throughout the song :

One for Malaysia Vasudevan - Ananda Thein Katru from Manipoor Mamiyar

And I still whistle to this song (Rajini dance chumma pichikum) : Oru Ooril From Garjanai
