Gurudatchanai is not exactly well-known among NT’s films. This, despite It releasing just after Thillana Mohanambal with same tteam like AP Nagarajan as director, Padmini , , Balaiyah, Sarangabani (the old actor, TR Ramachandran, Manorama, Balaji, Thangavelu ,Senthamarai, Major Sudararajan, Ramaprabha, MN Nambiyar etc.
KV Mahadevan as composer and co-stars like Jayalalitha, (Padmini and JJ in one film), and character actors like

Thank you for bringing up this film. I had always wanted to write a detailed review of this very underrated movie. Never got the time. Seriously, an overlooked film, especially on the value of education (Shades of Saraswathy Sabatham, Mr. APN?). NT is flawless as was the rest of the cast. While we venture to venerate the likes of Karnan and Thiruvilayadal, which are the staples of NT defenders, we should also remind those who don't know about these small films where not only NT's generosity shined brilliantly, but had great story and simple approach on the message about peaceful mankind existence (the friendship you highlighted). Thank you, sir.

'கள்வனின் காதலி' காவியத்தில் வரும் 'சதாரம்' என்ற அற்புதமான தெற்கத்திக் கள்ளன் கூத்து நாடகம். கள்வனாக நம் உள்ளம் கவர்ந்த கள்வர் நடிகர் திலகமும், ஆண் வேடம் தரித்து வரும் இளவரசியாக டி ஆர். ராமச்சந்திரனும் செய்யும் அட்டகாசம். அதுவும் நம்மவர் போடும் குத்தாட்டம் இருக்கிறதே! கைகளும், கால்களும் சும்மா பிச்சு உதறுகின்றன. ஒரு மனிதர் இப்படியெல்லாம் ஆட முடியுமா! இப்படியெல்லாம் நடிக்க முடியுமா! மூக்கின் மேல் விரலை வைத்துத்தான் ஆக வேண்டும். பார்ப்பவர்கள் வாயடைத்துத்தான் போக வேண்டும். அசல் கூ(கு)த்தாட்டக்காரன் கெட்டான் போங்கள்... ஆட்டமென்றால் ஆட்டம்... அப்படி ஒரு ஆட்டம். ஆர்மோனியம் வாசிக்கும் ஆள் அருகில் சென்று நின்று செய்யும் அட்டகாசம் அதகளம். ஒரு நிமிடம் கூட சும்மா நிற்காமல் கடினமான, வேகமான ஸ்டெப்களோடு கூடிய பிரமிக்க வைக்கும் பாவங்களுடன் நடிகர் திலகம் சக்கை போடு போடும் நாடகம். நாடகப் பயிற்சி அப்படி ஒரு திறமையை அவருக்குள் வளர்த்து வைத்திருக்கிறது. M.S.முத்துகிருஷ்ணன் அவர்களின் ஆடல் பாடல் பயிற்சி அருமையிலும் அருமை.

தாங்கள் கூறியது போல் என்னுடைய அபிமான படங்களில் ஒன்று குருதட்சணை. தொடர்ச்சியாக நடிகர் திலகத்தின் படங்களே போட்டி போட்டதில் பாதிப்புக்குள்ளான படம் மட்டுமல்ல, கதாபாத்திரம் என்றாலும் நடிகர் திலகம் பத்மினியின் காலில் விழுவதாக இடம் பெற்ற காட்சி அப்போதைய ரசிகர்கள் நெஞ்சில் ஒரு மனவருத்தம் ஏற்படுத்தியதும் ஒரு காரணம். அந்தக் காலத்தில் திரைப்படம் என்பது ஒரு பொழுது போக்கு சாதனம் என்பதையும் தாண்டி மக்கள் வாழ்க்கையில் ஓர் அங்கமாகவும், அதில் இடம் பெற்ற கதாபாத்திரங்களோடு அல்லது நடிகர்களோடு தங்களை ஐக்கியப் படுத்திக் கொண்டு மக்கள் கண்ணோட்டம் அமைந்ததினாலும் இது ஒரு காரணியாக அமைந்தது. நடிகர் திலகம் இமேஜ் என்கிற வட்டத்துக்குள் சிக்காதவர். என்றாலும் ரசிகர்கள் சற்று ஜீரணிக்க மனமில்லாமல் புறக்கணித்ததும் ஒரு காரணம். பின்னாளில் இப்படம் நல்ல வசூலை எப்போதும் தந்து வருகிறது.

Raghavendra-sir, bring them on! Enough with the films that the non-NT fans know, we need to spread awareness on these lovely little films that NT carried on his shoulder, or films that relied on his damned shoulder.

Thank you Rakesh. As Murali Sir often insisted, many films of NT which deserved very high reception but could not succeed, were mostly due to consistent releases without needed breaks. In fact the fan following NT had and has, is unparallelled till now. His fan base remains intact spreading across decades. This would have made all his films super duper hits which is evident from the roaring success of Karnan.

The success of Karnan has established a few facts - NT's prowess is beyond the period and is capable of attracting all generations, if his films were brought out to suit the new format of screening of films, it will have more reception than it originally got.

Coming to the point, let me bring the list in a chronological order starting from his debut. Of course this will include only a very rare but those which NT carries on his shoulders. Wherever possible I shall try to give a brief synopsis.

THIRUMBI PAAR is a must watch film not only for a Sivaji Fan, but for any connoisseur of a good cinema. Without getting into any image base, Sivaji Ganesan donned a role of a womaniser. His frequent visits to girls or bringing any to his home, irks his sister and she perusades consistently to bring morality in him. How she encounters his brother's attitude forms the base.

There is no mannerism, no artificial ha ha ha ... no dishum dishum fights, but the anti-hero wrecks the wrath of the audience, where the success of Nadigar Thilagam lies. His body language, his looks, his attitude, every thing speak volumes and serve as a lesson to handle any character with full control.

A NOT TO BE MISSED FILM FOR A FILM BUFF.
