Raja's Gems - the latest one you heard...Part 3

Here are a couple of songs from 'Salangayil Oru Sangeetham', the dubbed version from the hugely popular Telugu film starring Bhanupriya and Mohan, 'Alaapana'.

My neighbourhood cassette recording guy, recorded these two songs as a 'filler' to my customised playlist of songs to be recorded on a 'Meltrack' cassette.. It was a pleasant surprise indeed.

The first song is "Yaarodu Yaaro Nee Entha Ooro" - I think the raga is closest to "Karnataka Kamas" and reminds you of Kootathile Kovil Pura from Idhaya Kovil.




The second is 'Kanavaa Idhu Unmayaa". SPB and S. Janaki have both rendered dozens of compositions by Raja in the raga Mayamalava Gowla.. But this song has a very unique structure and brings yet another flavour of the Raga. The way he has composed the charanams are pure genius.. 'Un Salangai Osayellam Yaaradi", quips SPB and Janaki replies with a beautiful alaap..
