Almost 3 hours of story with no songs (there is a title song and there is a song during intermission)
Prem Kumar (Vijay Sethupathi) is all set to get married to his lover Dhanalakshmi (Gayathri). A day before his wedding, Prem decides to try his hand at playing cricket with his friends - Bagavathi (Bagavathi Perumal), Balaji (Rajkumar) and Saras (Vigneswaran). The game gets little serious and Prem in a bid to catch a ball falls down only to get injured in his head. He quickly gets back on his toes as the injury is no serious. But soon after the match, the friends are in for a shock. Prem forgets a few days of his life and develops short term memory loss wherein, he remembers his life till college and recognises his friends, but clueless about his marriage. Fearing troubles, the friends take him to a doctor, who says that he will recover anytime. So the friends plan to keep him in their company, enact all drama till he ties the wedding knot, with a hope that he would get back his memory.
Can see once for Vijay Sethupathi's acting...

Truly heart-warming story with a startling beginning. Story is told of a fisherman community with subtle references made to fisherman being shot to death, Tamil refugees from SriLanka, terrorism and other current issues.
Arulappasamy (Vishnu) is a young man who is an alcoholic and wastrel who is a constant embarrassment for his hardworking parents. Esther (Sunaina) is an orphan girl who is adopted by a nun and she stays in the church. Arulappan slowly gets attracted to Esther and his love for her, changes him. He gives up drinking and wants to work so that he can marry Esther. But the local fishermen do not allow him to go into the sea. The young man due to his determination buys a boat , marries his love and life is all rosy, till fate intervenes.
The entire movie was realistic, except for the conclusion. Well, maybe it can happen to some ppl.
DO NOT MISS!

In between Something Missing
Written & Directed by Balaji Tharaneetharan
Produced by V. S. Rajkumar

Cast
Vijay Sethupathi as Prem Kumar
Gayathri as Dhanalakshmi
Rajkumar as Balaji
Vigneswaran as Saras
Bagavathi Perumal as Bagavathi
Spl mention to that Barber & Doctor characters
Even in the promos + interveiws, the plot is releived. So nothing to say about its story. It revolves around 3 characters and the events happening after the temporary memory loss of 4th character. How the 3 friends struggle to continue to build the dream of thier victimed friend - getting him married to the girl he loves - while he is in the state of memory loss.
The opening song introduces us, with some impressing visuals, the characters of the film. In just 10 minutes you know who is who and whats their attitude/behavior. Then for the next 20+ minutes, the movie is taken in a canid way to establish the ground for the next 2+ hours. Until here its quite engaging. The initial moments when Prem suffers temprory memory loss, are funny. Then its gets repeative even though the Director tries to juggles with different scenes and suituations. A spl mention to the word 'Innachi" - the director has briliantly used this word in the suituations to highlight the memory loss happening in Prem.
'Yawning moments' cannot be dismissed. The long Reception and Marriage episodes make you fell that you have assisted - time wise - to these events. But still with some excellent acting, they do make us gigle here and there, but fail to capture our total attention.
Saras, Balaji & Baks are the main pillars to the movie, cemented well by Prem. As events unfold right before us, we are engaged merely by the seriousness shown by these characters. The sadness of the suituation is enacted very well by the 3. Close up shots bring up the emotion quite well on screen. Spl mention the the director to have chosen 4 to 5 events in total and move the story.
Prem has done extremely good supporting act, provking the excellant expressions from the other 3. Its quite difficult to be in all the scenes and still be engaged to the suituation. His physical moments is the code for the others reaction. If he fails, the domino would fall. Another thing is him uttering repeative dialogues. "n" number of times he tell the same lines with the same expression everytime. A very good performer.
The climax started of well, but again, it takes too long to settle down. And during the end credits, showing the real life friends on whom this story is developed, makes us easily link back to the movie and the reality.
A very good attempt from the team. Humour is everywhere.
You will certainly enjoy the movie and it will remind you of your "Set-tu" days.
