Raga of song please

  Anjali anjali , i feel , has some shades of
  Maand at the interludes(negotiable! ! ! )with
  shankara bharanam dominating the song..
  Maargali thingal , to my knowledge , do not
  have any blend on Natabharaivi at all..

  Its not suddha sarang also..I heard a famous
  hindustani guy telling that as Behaag..
  
  Minsaara Kanna is not vasantha..
  if you peope remember , putham pudhu poo poothadho
  (Dhalapathi) and Raathireeyil puthirukkum 's
  saranam , maanganigal thottilile thoongudhadhi..
  (Film : Thangamagan) those two are Vasantha...
  I guess Vasu should agree with me ..
  Can anybody tell me which raaga is 'Konji Konji
  alaigal oda' from Veera..even some pro musicians
  are unable to identify the raagas itseems...

  I'm quite sure it's not behag. We already had a discussion on this. The raga is either a sarang/hamir variant.
  Re 'konji konji': I don't think there is any raga there. It's a complex composition with too many beautifully placed accidentals.

  Konji Konji from Veera is a Ragamalika of Sankarabarnam and Dharmavathi.
  
  Malargale was said to be Suddha Sarang by Anuradha Sriram's Husband on the Sapthaswarangal programme. He's a Hindustani Classical bod. ARR himself said that it's a blend of Saraswathi and hamir Kalyani. Knowing him personally, he says that he never tunes to a certain Raga and says that most of his songs are Mishra Ragas.
  
  Margali Poove has a Shruthi Bhedham from Suddha Dhanyasi to Hindolam.
  
  Margali Thingal is in Pure Sindhubairavhi, a derivative of HanumaTHODI, but can take all notes in the scale.
  
  Theendai is a definite SRI Ragam.
  
  Rathiriyil Poothirukkum is in Hamsanandhi, by no means Vasantha. Andhi mazlai is in Vasantha, and Vandhanam in the same, Minsara Kanna(the Carnatic part) is in Vasantha too, the Alaap by Hariharan is in Basanth.
  
  Sakiye Neethaan does not take the Pradhi Madhymam and comes from Harikamboji(KAMAAJ THAAT in Hindustani). It is by no means Yaman.

  Margali poove: i remember one carnatic knowledgeable friend told me it has a sruthi bhedham from Sudha Dhanyasi to Hindolam. Geeta, you are right. Sunder, for details see www.newtfmpage.com/ci articles. one of the article explains this.
  
  Rathiriyil Poothirukkum and Putham pudu are definitely Hamsanandi, not vasantha. Geetha, in Minsara Kanna, the Aalaap was by Sriram it think, not Hariharan.
  
  Theendai: if i remember, the beginning is a lift off tune from Endaro.

  Raman kadai kelungal is also madhyamaavathi
  if you club these two ,you should be able to
  guess the blend of madhyamaavathi in Theendai..
  but now , yes , i should agree with
  Vasu and Geetha that pallavi is defintely SRI..
  Can you people tell me a carnatic song
  on BEHAAG.....
  Also , Can you people tell me , what all raagas
  have been used for AAlalaganda and varaagha nadhi
  karai yoram..
  I guess , generally ,all male voices are starting
  minimum with A-minor for all A.R.Rehman 's
  compositions..am i right ?? pls clarify..
  Also tell me , how will you tell the pitch
  in carnatic concept ( 2 kattai ,3 kattai,etc)..
  Any deep carnatic trained people with basic

  Actually 'raaman kathai kelungal' is a ragamalika. If I remember right, the last part is in madhyamavathi.

  I think film songs in begada are very rare, if there are any. Bharathiyars Thikku theriyatha kattil pallavi is usually sung in behag. there are several carnatic pieces though: vagaladi, aadum chidambaramo, nadopasana (thyagaraja), vallabha (muthuswamy dikshitar) are some masterful.

  In typical ARR style , it is not based on only Yamuna Kalyani , with shades of other Prathi Madhyama ragas . To me it resembles Dheena Karunakarane (MKT).
  Guys,Earth is an album where ARR has handled ragams vey well . IMO the ragams are
  1.Ruthu Aa Gayee Re - Panthuvarali
  2.Ye Jo Zindagi Hai - Desh
  3.Ishwar Allah - may be Behag or Hamir Kalyani , I'am not sure

  Ishwar allah, to me like Hamir Kalyani. Varaaga,though good song, anu pallavi not linked to pallavi seamlessly.
  Certainly Runa Laila (Dumadum mastqualandar) picked up tune of line 'nilakantane' from the MKT song ;-)

  kangal irandirundhum - Panthuvarali (others clarify this and ragas of other stanzas). The starting lines "nenjil uramum indri" reminded me immediately of the film song "yenadi chinnamma enna nenappu" from the movie Yeni padigal (especially the lines,which i do not remember, in the middle). Do others find any similarity between these two? (only for the starting of the Bharathiyar's song)

  I have a question about the ragam BANGALA.
  arohanam : sa ri ga ma pa ma ri pa sa*
  avarohanam : sa* ni pa ma ri ga ri sa
  
  Can someone please tell me what ri, ga, ma, ni
  this ragam consists of? Is it ri1 or ri2, ga1 or ga2, ma1 or ma2..that sort of thing :-)
