AVM's "Perazhagan" launched!

AVM’s new film titled Perazhagan was launched on January 26 with a lot of fanfare.
This film is the remake of Kunjikoonan from Malayalam and has Surya and Jyothika in the lead. Sasisankar who had done the Malayalam original directs this film. Said Surya to Sify.com at the launch: “It is one of the most exciting roles that I have ever done. I had seen the original a few times and was impressed by its hero Dileep’s performance”.

Added Jyothika: “I am doing a dual role for the first time- one a blind singer and the other a modern girl and both the roles will give me an opportunity to showcase my talent”.

Perazhagan will be shot in a single schedule and is due for release on May 6. Yuvan Shankar Raja is the music director and he will be mixing folk music with fast peppy numbers for the film.

  the songs are decent no doubt. better than arul this month top three.

  arul and eithree are ordinary so no place in top 3. but what ever anyone says why arr songs always rocks man new sound etc etc etc........

  For the first time I feel your opinion is fair about a YSR movie.
  
  I too agree this album is not upto the mark and not of YSR's standards. With this quality he is no match to ARR. He should produce something similar to MP to compete with ARR.

  What happened to these mds like ARR, HJ, YSR, and VS?
  Gillie = sucks, not even a single decent melody
  Arul = sucks even bad
  New = sucks, pathetic crap from ARR
  Ethiri = mediocre effort from YSR, a lot of recycling of Dheena
  Perazhagan = worst of them all. I was expecting a lot from YSR after previous unbelievable Surya ventures like "Nandha" "Mounam Pesiyadhe" "Povellam Kettupar."
  Ayutha Ezhuthu = only graceful album to come out this year!

  HJ is definitely better than this copy cat..Even though I do agree HJ is a good copy cat..But the competition is who copies better :)) - I guess YSR wins the crown!!

  I feel that even if Yuvan has lifted some tunes...
  for the ones not lifted, he has definitely a lot of talent... HJ is just an ARR clone!!
  
  The problem nowadays with Y's music is that he is becoming quite repetitive... and I'd be delighted if he tried to create "indian" music rather than some western kind of song with tamil lyrics...

  This is actually a very good album. I was reluctant to listen based on the postings here but I am very happy that I chose to hear it. the songs are very melodious and soothing to listen.
  People post ont his thread because they want to promote others and bring down others. I don't know YSR or ARR but I know I like YSR's music a lot now. I also like ARR songs, but feel that he is far to westetrnised now. He has no Tamil feel to his recent song. This is not a dig at ARR fans, but my opinion.

  I also liked all the songs fro paerazhagan - I would say this is the first 'mass' album by YSR - every song has the potential to become a big HIT ! I liked Karthik's Solo and Shankar Mahadevan, Mathangi Duet, Pushpavanam kuppusamy's song is also nice ! Somehow, Hariharan's song didn't impress me - may be I had too much of expectations !
  
  (BTW, "Oru azhagaana" is not a song - They themselves call it as "Vasana kavithai" in the cassette cover, But I am wondering what Thamarai did in this song !)

  I think Peralagan songs are not that bad. Pushpavanam kuppusamy song is the only let down song in the album (I did not like his 60 ayiduchu from MP either). Another thing I noticed and did not like is the recording and mixing was done at AVM theatre with their own personnel instead of his workplace Kalasa. There is definitely a huge gap in the recording area as well. Overall songs look very simple especially ambuli mama and ore oru piravi (may be he done by director's wishes?) anyone has seen the origianl malayalam version? how are the songs in it? Please share your views.
  
  His ethiree songs are good for a commercial film, this movie was launched after Peralagan and he has done his job. He is just 23 and he has a lot of time to learn and improve. I think he will.

  For the posting of XML in response to my posting. I don't think there is anything remotely funny in what I said. Maybe YSR is also westernised, but ARR has lost his asian-ness and gone staright to western music. I don't feel any of ARR's recent releases are fit to be in Indian movies, due to the lack of them being Indian.
  At least YSR mixes western with Indian.

  I am wondering if somebody would release such BGM Scores of IR from various movies ! (With dialogues, muzik - it would be great to listen !)

  The original Malayalam movie had a very low profile opening but went on to become a hit by word of mouth... Only one song was really good in that .... Kadanja Chandanamo... a fast racy number by Yesudas.But that song did very well..
