  Well said, appearently ARR started to use SPB back again in his every single film, because he is sick tired of nasal singers, like HH,Shanker,Udit,UK, ....etc. This I read from the news paper "verrakesari (sri Lankan, news paper)". well ARR opened his eyes, but what about IR, and others...???

  raghuvaran,202.9., the fact that arr is using him in his every single film shows that arr wants his songs also to go into the history book like msv-tms,irr-spb so that they can be heard over and over again for years to come. or else they will go the way like many of his movies which were hits for a few weeks and then vanished into thin air.i hope arr uses spb for most of the songs

  Yes That's right, fake raguvaran is at DHCP (@ 64.124.150.131), if you do not believe me go back to the very(first) begining of this thread and you will see I am the real raguvaran, any way, this is to talk about SPB,

  Have you heard of Nandha or udaya, appearently all songs are rendered by SPB, does any body know who is acting in it, who the MD is etc???
  
  
  SPB has done devotional called "Siva arpanam", which is in sanskrit, those who have not heard SPB singing devotional, better listen to this, it is excellent as good as KJY, Seerkazhi Govinderajan & Ghantasala!!!

  Yes I have heard it, & yes it is very nice.
  There are several SPB's devotional albums, all of these are awsome!

  Though I love Balu a lot and he is presently the best singer contemporarily, but I cannot portray him as the best singer in India has ever produced. There are better singers of yester years like Rafi,Mukesh, KIshore, Talat, Hemant kumar, Mannadey. All had their own styles and all were class of their own. In Telugu Ghantasala is still considered to be a class. In Tamil we cannot match TMS class.KJY has his own style. BTW Ilaiyaraaja himself has said" TMS has the best male voice in the industry". It was rather sad that TMS did not have a good exit.The same thing should not happen to Balu. Though Balu has given some superb numbers in Telugu and Tamil. I have listened to almost every song of Balu.
  
  I can argue best and worst about SPB. So to say SPB is the greatest singer India has produced is an insult to our Indian Film world and an insult to all the genius singers that this wonderful land has produced.Yes,SPB is ONE OF the greatest singers is an acceptable statement.

  veera, there are several great singers in India as it is a great country with several illustrious sons in various field. but when it comes to the greatest it is and will be only spb because of his versatility and divine voice

  Illaraja him self said TMS was great, but guess what the great M.rafi said SPB is the greatest, I agree TMS,Ghantasala, KJY, BMK,PBs,AMR,M.rafi, Kishor were all great, no doubt, but here are the drawbacks of these greats;
  
  1) TMS although he was very good at higher notes as SPB, he was all so good at devotional, he does not mudulate, you do not wether he sings for MGR, or Sivaji, he was never ever as excellent as SPB in carntic songs, take "paatum naane paavamum naane", from thiru vilaiyadal, he strugled at the swarams, his prounciation of swaram was not clear, plus his voice is manly, I agree, but at lower notes you must have a heavy bass & punch, till date no body can beat SPB in these aspects.
  
  TMS was very good at expressing emotions through singing, but not as excellent as SPB, SPB express the feeling of Joy much better than TMS & others
  
  2) M.rafi, yes he is as versatile as SPB,but his voice is too soft, where else SPB's voice is perfect, M.rafi is not as good as SPB in Carnatic, take "madhu ben meera radhika", he flares at the swarams bit & looses control, since when SPB has done this, even though SPB is like frog in a well, when it comes to carnatic.
  
  3)KJY is carnatic boffin like BMK, so of course he is a master of carnatic, SPB has asked KJY to teach him Carnatic in front of audience in Royal Albert Hall, in London. And KJY replied "You are better than me, so what's there to teach you??",then they both had a hug.
  
  any way, KJY is not a versatile singer, he is limited to melody, sad songs,carnatic & devotional, but SPB is unlimited, ask him to sing any thing, and SPB will enlighten your soul, with his amazing voice.
  
  KJY's tamil pronounciation is bad, appearently MSV asked him to pronounce the words properly, but he refused, ever since then he has stoped singing for MSV, the song is "ninaivale silai seithu, vaitheen, thiru koyilee", instead of thiru, he pronounces theru (road),.
  
  KJY can not at all express feeling through his songs, he always sings the same old boring style, often no life in his singing some time, never the less he is one of the greats!!!
  
  4)Kishor Kumar, I do not know what people see in him, his voice is so terrible, it often sounds like Illaiyaraja

  Please read my posting carefully, I have proved points with proofs (songs), so read carefully b4 posting your comments,
  
  so if you do not use the words, bass, modulation, expressing emotions, versatility, nasal, pitches, swarams, shruthi, shanghathi, layam,raagam, thaalam, pallavi, then how do you differntiate the attributes of a singer???

  Nandha by YSR, has SPB in most of the songs, at least YSR wants to be famous, although he is good MD, he will not be known, if his songs are not hit, for that any MD need SPB!

  Hi, guys:
  
  Last night, I was listening to Kamal Hassan singing. My God!! What a deep bass! What modulation! What expression of emotions! What versatility! Not nasal at all! The swaram, shruthi,shanghathi and layam were all very good at high and low pitches. He even sings raagam thaanam and pallavi. His muthalan kattai and ettan kattai were really really deep. Even deeper than all those nasalists.
  
  Sorry, SPB. You should take some lessons from Kamal.
