>>>As you rightly pointed out, people visiting Rafi's grave is a direct function of unemployment, nothing else:-)
Aha RajaG - a great conclusion!!! So suppose someone say X that the tremendous response that was given to ARRs concert in Dubai, or to PSs concert recently, do we say this is UNEMPLOYMENT. How can u arrive at such an absurd conclusion. It was people's love for him, dear RajaG. And respect. BTW - when a popular artist passes away, it is very common to see people wanting to pay their tributes to him/her. Why even I would've paid tributes to him even if I were busy, had I been born at that time.

LV: Firstly, the number of people attending a funeral should not be considered in any serious discussion about the talent of an artist. My remark, as many of them have been before, was tongue in cheek. I am absolutely positive that the person it was addressed to (comment) fully understood the sarcastic tone in it. By continuing to discuss on it, IMF proved that humor is yet another subject in which he needs a lesson. Your continuation puzzles me. I have come to respect your musical knowledge but on the topic of separating humor from the context........umm....:-)
BTW, I thought everybody knew about my other pseudonym which normally lies buried within my id.:-)

Firstly rajaG, i just wanted to mention a fact about people attending rafi's funeral and didn't mean it in a humorous way. You need a lesson on learning how to respect what others say and not just blast them because you don't agree with them.
I've already mentioned it before that i just mentioned a fact which i wanted to share and if you don't want to hear that then i feel sorry for you.

Yes, Humour (that too of this kind) has no place in a serious discussion at all. Yeah, and suppose such a thing were said about SPB (May God give a great man like him another century to live),
I would've loved to see your TERRIFIC sense of humour. Or better still Maestro Illayaraja?????
Thats where we would all come to know about all that sense of humour.!!!!!!
Another point: I sincerely request u to answer e my most recently asked question to u - about KK anf Rafi.

>>>>But all you nerds like IMF want to take Hindi music to a high pedestal and belitte TFM - this is totally uncacceptable<<<
I will not support anyone demeaning IR or ARR, but what about respected people (I wont say nerds) who are trying to demean HFM MDs?
>>>Indian Music Fan, if you swept the streets of India during the time u spend in this thread, India would truly be the most cleanest country in the world. Try to do us all some good by going back to the streets along with those 10,000 people.

For all your musical genius, I'd love to ask you. How do you rate yourself in this regard! Respected Sir, though u are more than double my age, I'd love to advise u not to indulge in such low level remarks. We are here not to call names to one another, and going through all your previous posts, your wordings are extremist and harsh and often rather hurtful. And there is an element of 'looking down upon others' in all those. So kindly stop that - your intelligence and genius in THE reason why this doesnt suit u.

Kindly stop calling me Musically learnt or Intelligent or anything. People are wrongly led to believe that I am someone great.
Well, as far as calling names go - I usually do that when I see there is no point in discussing further. In the virtual internet discussion world, all our emotions are slightly exaggerated - you understand. And anger is also one of them. So my frustration with something else is reflected in my words. Sorry about that, but this DF is absolute EGO-Fight I am sorry to say. This is one of the stimulants for my anger.

LV: When were you appointed as the prescriber of rules and etiquette for discussions in this forum? Your post -Humour (that too of this kind) has no place in a serious discussion at all. I have written (in the recent past) multiple posts about KK and Rafi. If those post combined do not answer your question to me, I have no choice but to give up----NO humor here.

LV,
IMHO the only MD in HFM who knows anything abt original music right now isour own ARR.
As to the topic ... I dont thinkM.Rafi is the greates singer of alltime... SPB and KJY mebbe ....
swamiji..u r at it again... see the remarkable consistency in the pattern and nature of critisim against u...
//"Kindly stop calling me Musically learnt or Intelligent or anything. People are wrongly led to believe that I am someone great"//
boy!do i agree with u on that!!!!

dearest RajaG:
Seriously, without anything against YOU, could u please some up what u actually meant in those posts. Definitely the tone of ur posts suggest that u want to place KK in the same league as KJY,rafi and SPB.
BTW: Yes,indeed I am NOT the prescriber of etiquettes out here :-). Ya, but I did feel a bit hurt at Swamiji's remarks. Many people felt so.
Bharath:
When I talk of HFM MDs, I definitely do not mean Annu Mallick,Anand Milind,Bhappi Lahiri and Jatin Lalit.
I meant the old ones who were all musical stalwarts, whether or not they should/should not be compared to IR, is a totally different issue altogether, and should not part of this forum. Anyway, I feel denying that sb. liek Naushad or Shankar Jaikishan were great MDs is sth. that no person (who is not tone deaf) will do.

TFMla Hindustani music, Rafi, Jaikishennu ethetho koothu nadakkuthu. koothula komaaliyattan naanum etho pozhuthu pogama ezhutharen !!
Actually I hated Rafi during the 70s when he was singing all those songs like "main jhat yamla pagla diwaana" for Dharmendra under LP and KA kind of composers. He was taking the mast and josh of the Shammi and Farz yore too far, desperately holding on to his career against the more natural, careless, nonchalant josh of Kishore. RDB quietened him down for HKKN, so it worked out well. All those older songs happened later - "Deewana mastana", "aaja re aa zara", "mujhe dekhkar aap ka muskuraana" - and I discovered Rafi. Rafi's was a very well nurtured, honed and calculated sophistication. Kishore was entirely instinctive and always came up with surprises("maujhon ki doli"). When he tried to control he sounded contrived ("kabhi palkon pe ansoo hai") He sounded as youthful and spirited as ever all the way to Sharabi and Mr.India. The free spirit is what made him more versatile as a playback singer compared to Rafi.
SPB is more like Kishore, but can become controlled without showing it like Rafi. KJY may be a great classical singer, but as a playback singer is no great shakes. Just does not loosen up. His best songs in Tamil (IMO only please) are "en iniya pon nilave" and "raja raja chozhan". Ilayaraja knew how to use his wooden sophistication for best effect. Bhupinder is good, very soulful voice, but could not match the vigour of Kishore. Hariharan should be chased away. Especially from the medai kacheris. The way he butchered 'Nahin saamne' with those unwanted gamakams and brikas was unforgivable.

KJY may be a great classical singer, but as a playback singer is no great shakes
is absolutely incorrect, IMHO! Especially so in the TFM context (forget about HFM where I'm no expert to comment and if I drag MFM, it'll be too much in favor of KJY).
I can confidently say that KJY has got more success percentage than even SPB / TMS (no. of good hits / total songs), regardless of who the MD had been.
Few samples:
-senthAzham poovil & many (IR)
-dheivam thandha veedu, adhisaya rAgam, vizhiyE, indhappachchaikkiLikkoru & many (MSV)
-unnidam mayangukiREn (VK)
-ondRE kulamendRu pAduvOm (KVM)
-vaigaikkarikkAtRe nillu (TR)
-pachaikkiLikaL thOLOdu (ARR)
...However, I must add that he had more songs with IR, which could have been due to the `age group' factor:-)) (There my IR bias again!:-))

i agree with your comments. when rafi's hindi songs (which many of us haven't heard) can be discussed in tfm, why not kjy's malayalam songs? mallus feel that his voice is a 'varaprasadam'. i also feel like that.
his songs in dhwani (music by naushad) and oru vadakkan veerakatha (by bombay ravi) are the best songs i ever heard.
that type of music is not attempted by even ir.
spb and rafi may be in a league. but kjy is the best.
