There is also one more gadget that produces harmony, using this you can program upto 5 part harmony vocals. A great tool for live shows.
During recording it is good but still sharp ears will catch it. The higher end of this model corrects pitch while singing, boon for composers who cannot sing!...

Naveen:
What's going on? No news at all. Upload a piano solo.
Swamiji:
Eager to listen your work on KORG Triton. As you seem to have perfected the playing of some film songs on your earlier PSR - just want to listen how you're doing with Triton. What's your opinion on Triton?
All the musicians here:
Did anybody played "Kadhal Oviyam" ( sung by IR & Janki ) live? I want to listen to it.
Regards,
Aditya

I am sorry aditya, I am completely overwhelmed by work that I wasn't even able to open my Triton. I have been taking piano lessons, and all I have been doing is practicing for the weekend class (BTW I bought an upright piano - coz my teacher didnt want me to practice on a keyboard!)...
I am also planning to move...so I don't really know when I would begin sequencing!!

Swamiji,
Congratulations! is that Yamaha Upright?
Cool.. Have fun!
Aditya,
Last Saturday I uploaded 3 Piano solos (KannaaLane, PootukkaL pottaalum and Mozart's Turkish March) to my mp3 page http://www.mp3.com/NaveenJebaraj
I don't know why it is taking so much time.
so I uploaded the 3 piano solos to my idrive as usual. http://www.idrive.com/njmusic
(Note: it is a different idrive account!)
Hope you'll enjoy!
Observer.. As you are interested in WCM, you may like Mozart's Alla Turca (Turkish March)- K331
Thanx

Naveen:
I enjoyed all the three Piano Solos. However the most well done solo is Turkish March. Wonderful Rendering on Piano. Great Job.
BTW, who's the composer of PootukkaL pottaalum?
Upload Flower Show Concert.

Aditya

Aditya,
'PootukkaL Pottaalum' song (movie: shatriyan) is composed by Illayaraja. The melody is very simple but the orchestration is very good and Banu Priya's classical ballet dance is excellent. You'll find high class ideas in that song. (both music and picturisation). I guess the movie is produced by Maniratnam. (must be inspired by sound of music songs!)
regarding flower show.. I'm sorry Aditya. I do not have a video card. I'll upload the concert whenever I get a chance.

Naveen,
I first heard Kannalane..it was good..then poottuKkal..I said cool..then the Turkish March..Man..did I stay still or what for those three minutes..breath taking..you have added some sound like Shankar Mahadevan ..blowing air out of his mouth phoo at the end of the Breathless song. This surely is your Breathless..
BTW, is it possible for you to provide .WAV files for all your compositions over Napster ? I want to burn then onto CD and try it out on my home stereo system (which is quite revealing). I can be your test listener :) atleast in terms of recording/sound engineering. I can also compare with other piano recordings.

This is excellent - music seems to be very casual but for me it simulated "being present in Early morning muhuruth for some wedding and then listening to Nadaswaram with Thavil going along"
In summary, though the arrangement has the contemporary style, the music sounded very traditional and Subhamasthu kind of ambience. This is what I wanted our musicians to do. Keep it up. Fortunately I listened to this very early morning and so the feeling was appropriate.
When you bring in Trumpet kind of instrument somewhere in the middle, it's really hair raising.
Great Job Srikanth.

Aditya

Outstanding fusion! The gentle touch on the Jazz kit is amazing. This fusion shows how close
the Indian improvisation and Jazz improvisation are in conception. A Jazz fan will see this as a Jazz piece - to them, you are showing the Indian feel of melody. A carnatic fan will see this as a
carnatic piece with Jazz accompaniment!
A masterpiece. Flute and sax are unbelievably
soft and soothing. You are a maestro! Drum playing is extra ordinary. The sounds are so good. Naanga ellam keyboard-ai thooki pottuttu poga vendiyadhuthan. You are raising the bar on amateur composers!
The scale reminds me Karaharapriya and derivatives. The only comment I have is that the flute is always on the 16th/32nd note mode. Alternate between such fast phrases and laidback slow pieces. That will bring a new dimension to the song.
Your new style of having a few instruments and showing their scope is a nice evolution. Best wishes, you are going places!

I have uploaded a composition called "Train through Appalachia" on
http://www.mp3.com/rjay
It uses Native American instruments (Flute,
Shakers and Painted drums) and also has a few
surprises. Your comments are welcome.

Excellent. Did you play the Flute? Bringing the Tabla in middle was a hair raising surprise. In general it's a very good piece.

comment: good job on that "flow" piece man. Way to go!
Naveen: "Turkish march" is one of my favorite compositions - wasn't Mozart a child when he composed this (I'm not sure about this)?
Your playing is good, but I noticed some differences between your version and earlier versions I have listened to, especially in the middle part, where I felt it was kind of blurred. Maybe I am wrong!

I have tried one song with the ghatam sound fonts you have given I will try to upload it soon.

Thanks for the comments. I didnt play the flute. I used a sample loop and soundfonts.
I am trying out a new technique. I first write a theme and then from a library of flute/String intonations captured from real performances, I cut and paste a realistic rendering syllable by syllable, pitch shifting it or time stretching it as required.

Observer,
Mozart composed Alla Turca when he was 27. But as you said he has done extraordinary works when he was a kid.
What I've played is the 3rd movement of Alla Turca (famous movement!) Yeah! I did half pedaling. Thats the reason it was slightly blurred. My piano is not very well regulated. When I play runs, sometimes it is difficult to show dynamics like pp or ppp. But I could do that well in Concert Grand. There is a lot of difference in touch in Grand Piano and my upright piano. Well.. I'm stopping here (I do not want to be branded 'Aadatheriyaadhava Theru Konallnnu SonnaaLaam! ;) Day before yesterday something was bugging me. so yesterday I played the same piece again and uploaded to my idrive. Let me see if you find any difference! (actually there are many) Can you write to me your e-mail address? I feel that this is not the right forum to talk about WCM compositions. No one has copied this piece. So it is not related to TFM!
Comment, RJay,
I listened to your compositions. Great Job! Keep up the good work...
