Hi! We've made a major addition to newtfmpage, and that is a big song bank. Dhool features thousands of songs for your listening pleasure. This site is a part of the newtfmpage.com - swara.com group. Together with newtfmpage, we wish to make this the best place to listen to tamil film songs online and know about tamil film music. Our collection includes old, new, famous, rare and unheard of songs. We are still fine tuning and fixing the database errors, so please bear with us. We value your feedback, and this will help us build the site better. Please post your comments below or mail to comments@newtfmpage.com.
This work was done by us (bb and RR) with MS and swara.com ravi.

Yes. Vaal Pochu is a brilliant song. Kumar P is a friend of mine. After listening to his songs, I had no choice but to bring his works to TFM Page.

bb: Thesu in Tevaram is used for light (oLi). It also means beauty or brightness. Tevaaram also has the phrase 'thesu aar vandu' meaning shiny beetle/bee. It can also mean beautiful bee.
In Maasil veenaiyum, musu means swarming. aRai means sound. Musu vandu aRai means sound of swarming bees. Poigai is stream. 'Musu vandarai poigaiyum pondrathe' probably means ' a stream with the sound of swarming bees'.

To add to what you said about thEsu...
'thEsu' is probably the thamizh equivalent of 'thEjas' in Sanskrit/Hindi.

sk,
Yes, thEsu (thamizh) = thEjas (Sanskrit)

Hello,
I do not know how to bring forth? It is a shock/surprise. We (myself and my husband) just walk through the content of the preamble, listen to the song and then post our views; never attach deliberate importance at the author. To add more, we got the clarity of how bb posts the preamble & how he chooses the songs etc only after some time. This is the truth and we do not gain anything by targeting a person. This being the case, some people have been needlessly finding fault on our intent. We realized only recently this kind of attack on us; especially after that Sivaji’s Ashoka drama. Finding fault and criticizing is all right, but now, they went ahead to use some unclean expression on us. What an indignity to use the word “canines” in a decent thread? This is a disgraceful act, I would say.
We never said anything lewd on any individual in the past. One may go through our posts and confirm, if needed. My husband, having worked earlier as a freelancer with a famous news group, has quite a few in his account to share. Of course, the interest on music attracted us towards this lovely thread. We post our own views, likes & dislikes. Besides sharing whatever we know, we get-to-know new things. That is all about.
So, to shun the grubby comments, we decided not to post our views for the songs with write-up from that person concerned.

Onto this week’s with my, this time too only my independent observation!!
Mon) yEn peN endru piRandhaai from Love Today
Earlier heard Unni’s version only.. Now, got a chance for the other version too. Thanks!!
Without any pre-opinion, when I listened, I felt this was smooth with a not-very-hard-worded lyric. I still feel the breeze with a pit of pain in the heart. I think shiva has good stock in his think-tank and made a different attempt with a different kural.
Tue) thuyilaadha peNNondru kaNdEn from meeNda sorgam
In college, there was a medley show using a chain of songs from 50s. As part of early leg, we used this song. I smile when I write this just recollecting how we performed on stage…! Received good shottu from Junta!!
One thing is amazing with Susila. When she pairs with TMS and SGR, she needs to shed energy to make her voice thicker to match their pitches (Ex: Unadhu vizhiyil endadhu pArvai & SangE muzhangu). At the same time, coupling with AMR & PBS, it is all the more difficult to low down to match them. This lovely nightingale had the magic.
Great SOTue, a sodukka vaikkum pAdal, of course thALathudan!
Wed) –
Thu) 80s in Chennai from a Private Album
May be, similar to SPB vAram, bb may do a ‘budding artists’ vAram. SOThu is simple and 1st class. An album need not be with grand & rich kalyANa poNNu make-up. The listener must receive it with a little lift of eyebrow (bru-coffee adv stylil). I did it so with a tumbler of Thanjavoor degree coffee, when I listened to SOThu :-O)
Srikanth: I would like to pass this piece of work on to my friends-music-circle. Hope you do not mind. IPR protection is guaranteed :-O)
Meticulous and work with involvement always deserve warm reception. Keep it up :-O)
Fri) thEsulAvudhE thEn malarAalE from maNALanE mangaiyin bAgyam.
It’s amazing…. Mr.Anjali Devi would have derived great joy while recording of the same tune in three different languages with such a great battalion of singers Rafi, Latha, Ghantasala, Susila & Jikki.
It is of ragamAlika, though the pallavi starts with hamsanandhi… last charaNam based onYaman KalyANi is so sweet with that mesmerizing lead humming by all the Isai Arasi’s.
When we attended a function on homage to Adhi N Rao, the Telugu version of thEsulAvidhE was sung by Ramesh and Vijayalakshmi Sarma. Our Telugu friends would know these singers! Viji brought out our beloved jikki’s style very easily. In a digital based afresh-recorded album on “andrum indrum endrum” Susila rendered this with KrishNarAj (Deva’s AsthAna pAdagar). Aging impact is evident, but her sollu kattu is still reengAramidgiradhu :-O)
rasiththu kondE irukkalAm, solli kondE pOgalAm… a great product from the history-makers :-O)

What you saw here is nothing. That should not hold you back! Keep up the good work. I like reading what you post every week. Cheers!

Just to clarify, OISG and Saravanan are two different people, and I don't recall Saravanan posting anything against anyone. That said, this arrangement is probably the best, if it won't bring in more issues.

Song of the Day: poovaagi kaayaagi kanindha manam ondru from annai.
http://www.newtfmpage.com/cgi-bin/stream.pl?url=http://www.dhool.com/sotd/poovagi.rm
- I was thinking of posting a Bhanumathi song today, and was looking in my library. After seeing this song in the list, I had to wonder how I missed this song for so long. This is an absolute gem, sung by Bhanumathi and wonderful lyrics by Kannadasan. Music by R.Sudarsanam.
- In the thread "Kannadhasanin Padaippugal III - Pillai paadalgal" ( http://www.newtfmpage.com/forum/14114.2349.14:00:38.html ), Ramki writes:
Annai padathil oru sequence. Sowkar Janakiyin maganai(magan kadhapathirathin peiyar Selvam)Banumathi thathu eduthu kolgiraar .pala varudangal kazhithu Janaki than maganai thiruppi ketkum podhu, kavignar solgiraar:

(paadal 'poovagi kaiyagi kanindha maram ondru')

- Bhaskar noted down the lyrics in another thread:
I like this song so much that I wonder sometimes of the possible meaning this song can have ! it fits exactly into the movie situation, but will fit into many many situations too... such is the power of the bizzare tamizh language :-)
