Tax Exemption.
After much research on IRS documentation, I have determined that the cause of the thiruvasakam in symphony does not satisfy IRS criteria for Tax Exemption.
A tie-up with TNF or any other association does not ensure Tax Exemption, unless all IRS "non profit" requirements are met. Please refer to www.irs.gov.
SSS are you sending out documentation with IRS approval for donors that will be proof of donation when questioned by the IRS. If not, you are viloating the law.
Please provide reasoning as to why the IRS should not be informed if you are illegally collecting money while claiming Tax Exemption protection to donors. TNF - You may lose your tax-exempt status if you do not justify that the proceeds are to be used for non-profit causes.
I am okay with you asking for donation. But, when you state that it is tax-deductible, a few legal questions are raised.

It's a pity that there are always someone out there to thwart any attempt at good causes in the name of caution etc. at every endeavor. In the disguise of cationing, they only want to see the project defeated.
Although it is futile to change these people who constantly change their identities to fail detection, in the interest of setting the minds of the right-minded people, here is our answer to this new mud-sling!
Tamil maiyam is a Non-profit org. reg. in India.
Tamil maiyam is in charge of conducting this project in all practical senses.
TNF is a regd. non-profit org in USA, with the sole aim of aiding projects in India under various clauses.
One of them is promotion of arts and culture under which TiS proudly fits in.
TNF is authorized to approve projects submitted by its members only under these sections for which it has IRS approval and thereby tax exemption as well.
Those who have given till Dec.31st would have received their letters from TNF and know what we are talking.
Two of the US TEAM are members of TNF and stand in a very reputable position in their fields.
One is an industrialist and another is a Medical Doctor.
TNF has made it very clear to us and TamilMaiyam that it will not give the collected money to anybody else other than Tamil Maiyam, the authorized non-profit org in India for TiS.
NOT EVEN TO IIR !!!
We, the members of US team, also cannot request TNF to send a check in our favor for any contingencies.
All the money sent to Tamil Maiyam by TNF need to be properly accounted for, and audited report MUST be sent to TNF periodically.
TNF will NOT send any money to Tamil Maiyam without the US team[mainly two of us, who are members of TNF]specifying the purpose, voucher, and the relationship to TiS of a specific item, for which money is requested.
Once the money is sent to Tamil Maiyam, TM has to show that the purpose has been properly served, to the satisfaction of TNF.
Neither the TNF, nor the US team, nor the Tamil maiyam people are novices in this regard.
We are all here for the last 15- 25 years and know what it takes here to meet the IRS requirements.
We very well know that this is not India where you can do whatever you like if you have the influence.
It is very insulting and unprofessional from the 'Caution' to have sent a mail like this.
He should have contacted us to verify the credentials before posting such a one in the forum. He didn't even post his id!
From the beginning, we have been telling that we want to do this professionally and we once again promise that it will be done so!
'thamizhanukku thamizhanthaan yedhiri'!
Now that, people are coming to grips about the viability of this project, those who dont want this to happen, are resorting to any tactics to create confusion. Shame on them!
They will not succeed.
Because, yellaam iraivan aruL'!!

Hello All,
As we are going to focus on the next plan of action for making TIS happen, we will not be adding postings here on a daily basis. But we will provide a periodic update on the progress.
I think, we've requested for your support more than you all liked and we won't be doing so from now on. People who have confidence on IIR, they have already contributed without talking and more will contribute. People who don't have confidence, they won't support no matter how hard we try. The status update is to help the believers/supporters so that they know what's going on. TIS will happen.
Thanks & Regards

'thamizhanukku thamizhanthaan yedhiri'!
wat a perfectly true statement...ive noticed this in all aspects of life.having lived my life in different parts of India ive noticed that there is no sense of unity among us tamilians.we always try to find fault/criticize on our fellow brethen if they do something good instead of supporting them. Thats were the Mallus and bengalis score over us. Wat is the use of having a high intellect, ethics ,hard working nature etc etc when we cant have unity among us.In no other society does religion, caste, creed etc etc etce play such big roles as in our tamil society. Why cant we just uncompromisingly support each other without giving a damn to the above issues..Why cant we just appreciate good music and be proud that the best music composers are Tamilians..why do we divide ourselves into different "Katchees"/camps and fight each other to death(metaphorically speaking)..also just because one can say anything in these e/internet forums does not mean u can take the freedom to write dirty and spit venom. all of us who indulge in such things are only cowards.just pause for a fews seconds before you post ur message and give it a thought..will you tell the same words(speak the words with ur mouth) in front of all the people in the forum.(i mean when people are physically present in front of u).im sure you wont...please give it a thought.

Dear SSS,
I was on a break for a while. Thalai suthuthu after going thru all postings. Anyway, I am not against the TiS project, so don't try to barge in on me.
Quote from you: "nalladhu seyyaavidinum, alladhu seyyaamal irundhaal, ungaL kudumbam vaazhum; yillaiyEl......!! 'pithaavE! ivarkaLai manniyum!'"
Romba immature statement!!!. how old are you??
posting by 'caution' just raised a question on tax exemption. You provided a nice explanation. You could have stopped there, but at the end---thevaye eillai antha maathiri 'CURSING' statement. 'caution' did not use such statements. Then why you???
i don't think you should demoralize yourself over these things. Keep cool!!. I also have seen postings of tamil film MGR songs implying others are headstrong etc....
PLEASE REFRAIN from postings like that. You may have set things right on your part. But if the people need it, you have to show. Don't you think it is your duty?. If somebody is aiming at slandering the project, then you can keep quiet.
My suggestion is REFRAIN from such OMNINOUS, CURSING STATEMENTS. It does not reflect good on you, whether you are a doctor or engineer or janitor or whatever.

Hello All,
Let's talk something serious:
How many of you would like to meet with IIR in person? We are thinking of arranging for a get together(something like a 'Dinner with Isaignanai') in different parts of US. Based on the responses, we'll work out the details/logistics. If you don't want to reply in this forum due to obvious reasons, please feel free to contact the US team member closer to you. This will be a life time opportunity and you can also clear any doubts regarding TIS directly with IIR.
The contact details of the US team members are available @ http://www.thiruvasakaminsymphony.com/us_team.html
Thanks & Regards

Dear All,
After waiting for a while...my posting here...as SSS said i was waiting for a while for the reply by Tamil Maiyam(Fr.Jegath) since he is the authorised Organiser i suppose and Shri. IIR. I cant accept SSS replies since he is just part of the organiser(US Team)..How come a organizing committee of such magnitude can keep quite. I wonder. They say its a prestigious project but where the reply for the questions???? they are bound to answer.. So Fr.Jegath / Shri.IIR come out...come out openly.
P/s. Mind you i want be more practical. i cant be one among thousands of sheep. After seeing SSS posting i expected Fr.Jegath to reply....but where is he?????? I reiterate well let the TiS shall come out and let them price at even 1000 bucks i will never give a second thought to buy...but they have to answer the people they can just sit and postpone the release date citing one reason or other.
Let the Almighty be with all who are involved with Tis and help them to bring out the Musical Treat Successfully.
YIA...ur style SSS

Well.. if you have genuine questions, I suggest you take a paper and pen write to Tamil Mayyam.
