SSS,
I think there is no point confusing about the project and thiruvacagam itself. Anyone who wants to know would have seeked and learnt about it. Please stop this "thinipu" and provide pointers, for someone who does not know. Anyone interested, please visit this web site and learn about thiruvacagam and other treasures of tamil literature:
http://siddhanta.shaivam.org/thivacha.html
It would be useful if everyone discusses just about the project, how challenging is to compose these verses as a symphony. Also, regular updates about the project (which could be little more regular).
Lets make this discussion a practical and objective one than introducing sentiments, religion and confuse with world peace.

In addition to my previous points,
As Mr. K said, for Raja Music is God and God is Music. I remember this quote by Raja from Vikatan 2000 interview “Isai Enpadhu Siva Sotthu”. For the past 25 years he is able to give this wonderful music is because he thinks he is blessed by God that way. In return he wanted to do something to the same God, that is what this project is.
What we are blessed with is that, for the past 25 years his music is immensely mixed with our part of life, (name all your emotions you had before, you still can relate to his music). If Raja is thanking for what he is blessed-with, then we should also thank for what we blessed-with by promoting this project.
Ok, now that we all know all IR fans support this project in one or another way, as the commander and chief of the project “SSS”, please let us know how we can promote this project.
Of course all IR fans can come up with their own ideas and discuss it out here so we get a better knowledge of promoting this project.
Vatsa! Thanks for the link.

And, thanks for lessening our burden ['thiNippu' in your words!]!!!
Why dont you elaborate on the 'challenging job of composing these verses into symphony' aspect?
Thanks.

HERE is what we[IIR fans] all should do!And, this check-list needs to be accomplished by the end of Feb'04!! Thanks.
1. Send your tax-deductable contribution in favor of "TNF" to any one of our addresses.[you will have them on the www.raaja.com site].
2. Spread the word on TiS and try to collect from your friends and families.
3. Send us any useful link or contacts in your area whom you feel we should approach.
4. Look around in your area, state, school for any available grants for a similar venture and let us know.
5. All said and done, we are all here only for the name of IIR and let us make him proud by our actions.
6. The fact is that,at this time, at this moment it is IIR who is embarking on TiS and so, let us not waste our energy in digressions, diversions by shifting the focus onto any other MD, philosophy etc. but concentrate ONLY on making this happen.
7. The timely release of the CD lies squarely on our hands as we are the 'producers' and the sooner we get this done, the better for the project.
8. If you can think of anything else, please get in touch with us.
9. YIA!!

DIGRESSION
As per IR, Isai Enpadhu Sivan Sotthu and IR has been entertaining people for the past 25 years using this "sivan soththu".
"In return he wanted to do something to the same God, that is what this project is".
How he can do a kind of payback to sivan with the same sivan soththu? Isnt it?
For that also our forefathers come to our rescue
"avan aruLaalae avan thaazh vaNangi". Even to pray GOD one needs god's grace. What a simple and profound statement.

Great! And this above quote is from 'civapurANam'[of Thiruvasakam]!!
avan aruLAlE avan thAL vaNangi

mundhai vinai muzhudhum Oya uraippan yAn !

Below are some of my post production ideas to promote (may be far fetched).
a) Every one assign them self a goal of TIS CDs (say 10 each) and try to market it to
your known people and friends.
b) Collect all the mail ids of the web sites which releases recent new albums MP3s,
and send them a continuous request to them not to provide TIS MP3s.
c) For while from the day of TIS release, our first choice of gift for any party/function
should always be TIS CD.

Dear all,
At present, we are concentrating only on the "launch" and not on 'production' and 'marketing', though we will ensure the interests of all the donors.
In the mean time,If any of you want a portion of your donation to be set aside for the CD, we can do that. So, pl. indicate when you send in your checks. We want to complete the target by the end of this month and we have definite word that the project will get underway by March, one way or the other; but our help at this juncture is being needed very much for this. We cannot emphasize more!

SSS,
I am not that knowledgable about technicalities of music .. though I know something about tamil literature. Thats why music experts can shed some light on the difficulty/challenge of the project. What I am fascinated about is, most of the tamil literature are set on certain Panns (roughly raagam). It will be very good to listen to it when its sung based on that. But, if it is based on a symphony, will it sound good? IR can do this magic. Since you said in your "meeting with IR" that you heard him explaining it to Mr. Schwartz, can you elaborate more on that ... or if some experts explain how it works.
About the production side of the project, this thread is the primary source of info on the project. Its matter of getting many people contributing (siru thuli peru vellam) and getting confident that the project is going to happen. That could be done if the TiS site is cleaned to provide the latest information. How can I refer people if I myself does not know much of the information or nice pointers to point to?
I have asked couple of my friends, most of them would like to get the CD than donating for the purpose. I dont blame them, they have their reasons.
My question is "Can anyone do a pre-order?". Does this come under pre-production. If yes, how is this pre-order handled? Though I beleive in the project, I need to just answer my friends so that they get some confidence. It will be helpful if some clarification is given about this.

Vatsa,
Using Religious text in a symphonic work is not new. It is time-tested and you can refer to lot of works by J.S.Bach, Handel and other composers.
Ilaiyaraaja happens to be interested in expressing himself with a tamil religious text.
I request you to wait until this great work is released.
Meanwhile, we will be happy to give you pointers on other such works. Many people in this forum can do that.

Vatsa,
We dont have a separate process in the USA for pre-order.
What kind of numbers you are talking?
We dont mind putting a separate process for pre-order. As you may be aware, lot of our friends requested for Tax Exemption. We went ahead and stuck an association with TNF.
Every process, we put in place, is time and effort.
We would appreciate if you could take an initiative on our behalf (May be, you can do a online survey) and come back with concrete numbers, we are ready to work with you.

Rev.Jegath Gaspar- For TAMIL MAIYAM
Thiruvasakam in Symphonic Fantasy – A unique musical adventure by Maestro Ilaiyaraaja.
It takes the musical genius of Maestro Ilaiyaraaja to concatenate the devotional spiritualism contained in the classical Tamil poetry of Thiruvasakam with the ethereal
harmony of the most accomplished of Western classical music composers. This challenging enterprise has never before been attempted in the realms of Tamil music.
The world’s first premiere of a musical recording, combining the cadenza of this inspirational Tamil spiritual literature supported by delectable carnatic music and
accompanied by the famed Hungarian Symphony Orchestra, is getting ready for the enjoyment of aficionados and music lovers in all parts of the world.
Tamil Maiyam, a not for profit charitable organisation is collaborating with Mr Ilaiyaraaja in promoting this ground breaking venture to further the arts and culture of
the Tamil people.Tamil Maiyam is also committed to serious research on Tamil language and society. It is headquartered at Chennai, India.
At present Mr Ilaiyaraaja is working on a major aspect of this project to write the score for selected songs from the Thiruvasakam in the Western symphonic format.
He is the only Asian so far to have been accorded the rare honour of performing a symphony at the Royal Albert Hall, London with the London Philharmonic
Orchestra. There is no doubt that this Thiruvasakam in Symphonic Fantasy will be the ultimate fulfillment of his dream to coalesce the best of Tamil and Western
classical music to the discernment of the modern international stage. Having composed more than 5000 songs, scored music for 825 movies and conducted
countless number of concerts this project according to him has been ‘his prayer’ for a long time.
This is perhaps the first ever attempt to write Indian music using Western symphonic language without compromising the much celebrated beauty and aesthetics of
the former. It cannot be just fusion, for that will be crude. It will be an audacious synthesis that draws on the best of both systems; thus producing a celebration of
creativity. Why does Mr. Ilaiyaraaja want to attempt something as complex as this undertaking? It is like asking why men want to climb Mount Everest or walk to
the North Pole. It is a challenge for heroes and great human beings to do the extra-ordinary and Ilaiyaraaja wants to leave his musical landmark for generations of
Tamils to come. It is indeed refreshing, he says, that a Catholic Priest like Fr Jegath Gaspar Raj is in the front line to internationally promote Thiruvasakam in this
seminal format.
The Thiruvasakam has been chosen for this eclectic project because of its spiritual depth and poetic beauty. No one can fail to be stirred by its profound emotions
while reading the verses. They have touched for generations the hearts and minds of the vast majority of Tamil speaking people. Has the longing of the human soul
for purity, peace and divine fellowship ever found worthier expression?
A number of leading directors of music and international musicians have paid their tributes to Mr Ilaiyaraaja and sent their best wishes for the success of this project.
His Excellency, The Prime Minister of India has described it as noteworthy and sent his best wishes.
The music album is due to be released on October 18, 2003 at a formal function in Chennai. For more details please visit : www.thiruvasakaminsymphony.com or

We thank 'tgk' for re-issuing the last press release, perhaps to emphasize the aspects of Thiruvasakam In Symphony questions that have been surfacing in this thread, of late. It does answer the aspects 'vatsa' wanted to know. Thanks again.
