Rahman's much anticipated "Boys" is set to release soon and everyone is keen on finding out more about this album. Who are the singers? What are the soundtracks like? When is the release date? Will the album be delayed? If anyone has any idea; please post here....
Also; use this thread to discuss this album..
Here is what i found::
Typical of Shankar, the director is not prepared to say much about the film at this point. However, it is known that the film will be very youthful, almost teeny-bop, in content, with the majority of the cast being in the 16-23 age group.
Shankar, apparently, has decided to cast all new faces in his film – and the younger the better.
In fact, a mention in various Tamil periodicals, and an accompanying advertisement to the effect that Shankar was looking for new faces, has created a headache of sorts for the producers. Curriculums vitae have been pouring in to the Surya Movies post box ever since the ad and the story ran in the vernacular press – and last heard from, the flood shows no signs of abating.
Curiously enough, the ad appears – thanks to emails and discussion groups – to have reached an audience abroad as well, with the result that newer batches of applications have US, British and suchlike stamps on them, which suits the producer and director fine since the film does incorporate a lot of NRI faces.
For Shankar, Boys will be a return to romance after Kadhalan, and to comedy after the Aishwarya Rai-Prashanth starrer Jeans. Though the film will feature fresh – and ergo, inexpensive – faces, Shankar maintains that the film will be typical of his style, which means lavish budgets, and expensive production values.

popkarn,
"50% of BOYS production was done before Thulluvadho ilamai was released"
So u agree that both BOYS and TI hav same story line and scenes, but want to prove that Shankar didnt copy Selvaraghavan and it was his original idea.
On the other hand you scold TI for its storyline.
If that is the case then u shud scold both BOYS and TI. Please scold BOYS also.

Watch closely for these same guys after 6 months, I mean when kana kaanum kalam is releasing out. They will take another U-turn and blame all provocative scenes. Just wait and watch.

If Boys is directed by Selvaraghavan and the same music is scored by YSR or HJ, then the ppl like rajasaranam, MusicIsLife and etc etc.... will say "What a fantastic movie boys is.... and YSR has gone really international with his wonderful music score in boys" like that.
Dont ever force your opinion using my name. if you dont understand English, i can teach you, b4 you comment something, do read my posting!! Secondly YSR has not appealed to me as much as IR did, not yet atleast

I think it is "Idhu Oru Kanaa Kaalam" *ing Dhanush and Ramya Krishnan directed by Balu Mahendra MDed by IR. THe film is a tamil version of "Ek chotisi love story".

peeps,
thats exactly the point with a slight difference. These two movies are no different than the other movies that get released. So neither of them needs to be 'scolded' in ur own words. Its just that the theme is bold, but has been indicated to the masses well before the release. If they purposely go, see and then say they feel cheated, its not the producers problem. Then there is no end to it, cos people have access to all movies - the 'notorious' mallu ones, the coloured ones and so on.

To all,
an example perfect U turn.
iam pasting a post frm MR.V when we had an arguement over erotic songs in which i was defending IR and MR.V was very decent enough and was arguing that ARR is more decent. pls cehck it out:-)

Look! As an MD you can bring out the passion between two lovers in different ways.
One way is to make use of the musical elements at your disposal and create a mood (like in thee thee) that is conveyed by purely musical means (ex: slow tunes, fast flutes, fast rhythm, power chords, walking bass, thala jadhis, fretless bass etc.)
Another way (the IR way) is to batantly add the sexual sounds to create the mood of passion.
Either way an MD makes the required effect for the song. However the second way (the IR way) is what I call 'Vulgar'. If I make those sounds (like S Janaki's orgasms) in front of my parents what will my parents think of me??
The ARR way is more decent and non-vulgar although it conveys the reqd mood! The mood is conveyed purely by "music"!!!!!!!!!!!!
No Orgasms!
Haha you go so deep with your theories, you started with satelite channels, then bharatanatyam dancers, then psychiatrists advice to be open about sex and now you come up with sexual demographics!
It is simple rajasaranam! make those sounds in front of your family and tell me what their reaction is!
V,
WHY RNT U THINKING ABT UR PARENTS NOW. THIS IS CALLED PACHONTHI THANAM, MOLLAMARITHANAM IN TAMIZH.

in which of my post i said the movie BOYS is vulgar. I SAID I ENJOYED THE FIRST HALF OF THE MOVIE WHILE THE SECOND HALF WAS SPLOIT BY BAD SCREENPLAY. i wud ve luved the movie if he had treated the whole movie as a sex-comedy movie like american pie or something abt mary.

V,
Agreed some of IR songs had mukal and munagal. That was the trend those days. Same IR is not doing it anymore. In a particular period, if you notice, there will be atleast one Silk or Anuradhaa song.
Obviously you can't do away with mukal and munagal. Same situation is not presented to ARR. This is because, people got bored with that stuff by the time ARR entered. This could be the reason. I am sure, IR is as embarassed as anybody while composing the song, given his spiritual interest.

Anbe sivam,
even after ARR's entry Ir has composed songs like orakka kathuthu kozhi- ejamaan, raakozhi koovum neram - maharaasan, pallikoodam pogalam - dont know the movie etc., IMO given his spiritual interest IR is not affected by these kind of songs as they convey the exact mood of the song more openly and i think he enjoys those songs as much as we!! ME do.
that topic was long back over betn me and MR.V and i dont want to continue that in this thread too, as MR.V. will come up with his own expalanations for his double standards. look at the way he is defending the movie calling everyone hypocrites, Ba*stards etc.,
V,
i ve never been vulgar in my posts pls excuse me this one time. otha neyellam enna mayithukku pesara? unnoda standardslaye unnala nikka mudiyalena moodikitu iru.

i dont find much fault in the way Shankar has taken the movie...agreed that he was expected to give a family entertainer, which he failed to do so....
however, it is just that Shankar had decided to choose this subject for his next film....why blame him? ... it is not as though this is a new subject which has never been dealt with ... vulgarities in films have been there for ages .... but offlate it has become more explicit ...thats it...
i mean even K.Balachander has taken "Manmadha Leelai"....wasnt he expected to give family subjects entertainers? ... just happens .... rests with the subject u choose to direct
P.S. : i am by no means comparing the class of KB with Shankar

I agree with you that it has just become explicit, but I am not against it, things that are happening should be shown as is. But the guy running naked in the roads is kind-a unrealistic, but TI had the same thing, probably it might constitute to ragging which no-body talks about.
KB did the same thing in Netrikan. It is unjust for some one to say the movie is vulgar, i thoroughly enjoyed the first 45 mins(thats all i got to see,now i have to wait for the DVD), except for the gross vomitting scene

I speculate the guys of Kumudam and Vikatan. Both these mags have not published the review for Boys yet. Could it be because they were told to defer the review because the movie was bad?

rajasaranam,
I can use the same post to dictate your own double standards!
remember you were defending the depiction of erotica and ytou said it should be shown openly?? Now that it has been shown openlky in BOYS why do you complain??First look at your own double standards and then try to point your fingers at me.
Btw I have already given my connotation for the use of the term B*astards. If you guys are insistant that I only was referring to the illegitimate birth of tamilians you are welcome to do so and you can blame that on your stubborness or your lack of english knowledge and its connotations.
Rajasaranam,
If tomorrow ARR does something openly in his "MUSIC" (not the film) come to me and attack i will accept my fault. But I still hold my stand that IR's liberal use of moaning was just too sick.
I completely agree and feel sad that some families and women are not able to go and see Boys because of its content. However why dont you guys raise such a hellish uproard when Kadhal Konden and TI released? Those weren;t too decent either. TI had teen sex and Kadhal Konden had silly moaning sounds!!
How is it fair that you guys come up with the passion of 1000 fiery hells to attack Boys for some incontinent depiction while vulgarity in TI and Kadhal Konden is hailed!!
If shankar did say that Boys is a family entertainer than I would be very unhappy with him. However he has been honest to say that this is a full and full teenager movie!

I agree with you fully!
Shankar has failed to give a family entertainer! But he personally chose to do so and he had constantly revealed that Boys is a pure teenager's movie!
I think there should be more Bold directors like Shankar who move away from typecasting and do things different! I cannot imagine Vikaraman making a suspense thriller today because our great "makkal" have beautifully typecast him as a family director.
Tomorrow if poor vikraman attempts a suspense thriller hw ill be censured to death by our great "makkal" who want the same thing from the same person every time.
Can you imagine ppl like Rajini, Vikaraman SA Rajkumar, Deva doing something different? They have streotyped themselves so much that it has fettered them to the chains of everlasting monotonous deliveries.
Shankar should be appreciated for his bold attempt but I personally feel that Sujatha's dialogues and some scenes were just too much and could have been refined a little bit. Mind you! Just "refined" and not taken away!!!! Content is prefectly okay with me.
