Rahman's much anticipated "Boys" is set to release soon and everyone is keen on finding out more about this album. Who are the singers? What are the soundtracks like? When is the release date? Will the album be delayed? If anyone has any idea; please post here....
Also; use this thread to discuss this album..
Here is what i found::
Typical of Shankar, the director is not prepared to say much about the film at this point. However, it is known that the film will be very youthful, almost teeny-bop, in content, with the majority of the cast being in the 16-23 age group.
Shankar, apparently, has decided to cast all new faces in his film – and the younger the better.
In fact, a mention in various Tamil periodicals, and an accompanying advertisement to the effect that Shankar was looking for new faces, has created a headache of sorts for the producers. Curriculums vitae have been pouring in to the Surya Movies post box ever since the ad and the story ran in the vernacular press – and last heard from, the flood shows no signs of abating.
Curiously enough, the ad appears – thanks to emails and discussion groups – to have reached an audience abroad as well, with the result that newer batches of applications have US, British and suchlike stamps on them, which suits the producer and director fine since the film does incorporate a lot of NRI faces.
For Shankar, Boys will be a return to romance after Kadhalan, and to comedy after the Aishwarya Rai-Prashanth starrer Jeans. Though the film will feature fresh – and ergo, inexpensive – faces, Shankar maintains that the film will be typical of his style, which means lavish budgets, and expensive production values.

"Why stupid movies like Dhool, Saami, Dum are chartbusters??
Because tamilans only accept crap stuffs.. not realistic stuffs.. "
Hello Mr. BeN! Mind your words! Dont under estimate tamil people.
Dhool and sami are accepted as chartbusters. But huv can u relate 'Dum' with them?
Our people are so intelligent to drive out the stupid movie "Baba" eventhough it is a Rajini film.(Hyped by media that rajini wont get failure)
If they dont like something in the movie definetly they will throw it out.Eventhough it is by their favourite director or star.
What happened to 'tajmahal' inspite of Bharathiraja's previous victories?
if people reject a movie there must be a strong reason.
for example.. "Anbe sivam".. Such an excellent movie.. But people who dont know anything about communism cant like the movie..and the more English usage also is a reason that it did not reach the village mass and many more..
so if u analyse a film, you can get the reason for failure..
Dhool and Saami are chartbusters. But in those masala commercial films also some thing is there like vikram's action and the some "Viruviruppu" in screen play.
so if they like also, some reason will be there.
u may like crap stuffs like boyz. dont pull all the tamilians to your side..
so dont underestimate people..

Mr. BeN!
Huv can u say that 'Iruvar' as a good film. Do u know the history of tamil nadu and politics?
If u know TN'S political history you cant accept 'Iruvar' as a good film.

By saying B*astard I meant the softer connotation which is "A person, especially one who is held to be mean or disagreeable"
Even Hans Blix in his final interview before leaving UN said there are so many b*astards in the pentagon. You mean to say he was referring to the legitimacy of the birth of the people he is talking about. My god! Typical Tamil Buddhi! No wonder people like you feel offended by Boys!
I am just censuring people and generously including myself (being a tamilian) to all the interjections I am heaping!
JK
Like I said Tamil cinema is really scrrewed up! Wild, Crassy and uncouth in all aspects. Tell me what is so great about Jayam? The hero hangs in a rope and meets the heroine and sings "Kavithaiye Theriyuma".
Isn;t this an insult to our intelligence??? When such nasty ridiculous crap is appreciated as part of a hit movie, some incontinent scenes in Boys makes it vulgar???
How can we leave out the moaning in Kadhal Konden where Danush sees the neighbours having sex??
What pained me the most was that, some websites called Selvaraghavan the next Mani Ratnam. Like saying Mayawati is the next Mother Teresa!

It is not necessary that Iruvar had to follow the exact political history of TN. It is the director's freedom to also twist the script acc to his wishes.
According to me Iruvar was way way too sophisticated for the azhukku lungi rascals who watch uncouth dirt and hail it as "soooper padam machi"

V!
I accept your opinion about 'kavithaiye teriyuma' and that "Khadal konden" scene..I am not defending jeyam or khadal konden..just talking about "Boyz" only. Referring to other films is like "Avan kinattril vizhundhaal naanum vizhuven"
regarding your comparision..
selvaraghavan may be like mayawathi.. certainly Mani ratnam is not mother teresa..

If u make a period film u have to be careful in dealing with historical events and political leaders,Otherwise just make another ordinary film.
In other films if u do anything that is director's freedom. But when comes to film like "Iruvar" or "Ghandhi" or "Bharathi" the director has to anyalyse things before doing the script. But in 'Siraichalai" or "Hey Ram" you can do anything because only the period is used and not the exact history of one or more leaders.

I dont take Hans Blix as my cultural teacher. I have not seen Boys, I have not posted anything to wrt to movie. If you want to call yourself as B*tard, and your mother as B*itch, so do it, but dont doit in the name of Tamilians. Who has given any liberty to talk crap like this. If you refer any individual say paran as B*tard, he will react, but call Tamilians as B*tard, others keeping quiet!! Funny logic!!

U people are so descent enought to insert "*" instead of using some letters in an ugly word.(What a fun?) then..why r u using such unparliamentary words in a forum that too to define tamilians?Hard to belived that u r educated!
BeN! why dont u feel for this if some other men belong to a different race happen to view this forum?

Popkarn:
"If Boys is directed by Selvaraghavan and the same music is scored by YSR or HJ, then the ppl like rajasaranam, MusicIsLife and etc etc"
It simply doesn't matter what I, you and rasa fans say here dude. It all matters how it is doing at the box office. And ofcourse selvaraghavan, YSR, HJ are not part of this movie making. Shankar and arr are part of this film which is a failure.
We all know what happened when TI was released, and even some people branded YSR as porn music director and complained about the movie. Now you guys have taken u-turn. this is what called, TIME!
Bj:
"TI had embarrasing moments (not sure for whom, when and in what context it was embarrassing),"
Agreed, TI had its embarassing moments too. But looking at TI's success and Boys's failure, doesn't that tell you something? It doesn't matter what movie you are making, but the end product should reach your targeted audience. Looks like TI reached that level. Although Boys has similar story line, provocative dialogues and scenes, it's failure tells us that Shankar failed. It's as simple as that.
And again, AMRatnam collected his second thundu from Shankar, but this time little bit costly just for Rs. 22 crores.

Yes, that film is too sophisticated for ordinary fans. That movie should have been taken on the moon and released it there. But due to visa problems, mani settled down and took it in TN.
What a bunch of crap!

Nobody holds Mr.Maniratnam here in TN and begging him to take movies for Indian audience. It is his wish. Accepting or rejecting his films is audience's wish. When these same audience accept his movies, they look to you as decent crowd. When they reject, they become azhukku lungi rascals. Stop whining. Mani can leave India and take movies in Hollywood if he thinks that is his place to be.
