Dear e-hari,
For your kindest info, RDB has never used PS and SPB, perhaps not even KJY though I'm not sure about KJY. Naushad used SPB in Meri Payal Tere Geet, for a few classical songs, which SPB regards amongst his best.(listen to those before commenting again next) He even won the best classical song of the year for that from the Sur Singar Parishad. PS has never sung for Naushad in Hindi films at all.
KJY'w work with Jaidev is terrific- there are terrific classical numbers that he sang in 'Aalaap'. His songs in that film are composed in rare Ragas, and are a musical revelation.

to e-hari again:
>>>>>Your example regarding chitragupth does not make any sense to me. If I want to make a case similiar to that in TFM, I can quote Devarajan, T.R.Papa, govardhan all have given one or two great songs, now if I want to equate them to IR or and others, I know, how stupid it is
ANS:
Chitragupt has not given only one or two good songs-there is a whole long list-I've given it before. Try and condescend to listen to it. I dont care whether the good music hurts your ego.
Till then, you may live under the conveniently taken assumption that IR alone has given worthwhile music. Of course, this assumption is just to try and hide your ignorance.

LV,
I can admire your courage in saying things, you are not even sure of. RDB never used SPB ( ok, now I can see, how much you know about latha, or chitragupth).
I have started feeling, you have not even listened to RDB, save IR.
Listen to sagar, kamal to ho gaya. RDB used SPB.
Why cant you first listen to HFM completely, before you dish out your esteemed opinions here.
I have listened to naushad ( it is Tere Payal Mere
Geet, you dont even know the name of the movie for god's sake).
You have made enough fool of yourself here.
One thing is sure, even latha is not going to be excited in seeing fan like you.
best regards
e.hari

Hey guys,
This is regarding Ingi iduppazhagi song. I don't know where I posted the inf. about this song earlier.
This SPB's interview which I mentioned was again re-telecast this sunday in vijay TV - naiyaandi darbar(classic) program. The interview was supposed to be taken in 1999.
SPB said that IR got inspired by the RDB song
"Yeh dil deewana hai"
I said that this part and charanam of tamil song match. It is actually wrong. The charanams of both the song match. SPB sang both the songs and they were exactly the same. SPB said that IR had a great admiration for RDB, he talked about him a lot. This perticular song, IR had it in mind for quite some time it seems. He finally used it in Inji idduppazhagi song. IR seems to have told this to SPB once. SPB was talking about inspiration and told how is it different from copying.
If you remember, I got inspired by this SPB thought and I was trying to put forth the same message here for almost three months. What I received is some good bashing. Thanks for that.

CF are you talking about 'yeh dil diwana hai
dil to diwana hai
diwana dil hai'
from 'ishq par zor nahi'??(latha and Rafi)
Then the music is by SDB and not RDB

I don't know.
Yes, that right in identifying the song. SPB said that its RDB and IR too seems to have agreed. If IR got ispired from this song feeling that it is by RDB when its actually its by SDB, then I don't know what should I call this.

guys: this kind of personal bashings are boring. let discuss something else.
i am trying to remember a song for a long time. i don't know the movie name either. the movie stars rajesh khanna (as a railway station master) and zeenat aman (as a rising movie star). there is a sexy duet with a very good guitar prelude (just before the kasamusa starts inthe movie). can anyone tell me what song it is and if i could listen to it anywhere. thanks.

LV: For your information, Naushad is a big admirer of Ilayaraja's music. That is why you find him in all functions where Ilayaraja is honoured.
In fact, he has said that Ilayaraja has achieved 25 times more than him and his contemporaries. So please do not underestimate Ilayaraja.

for everyone,
Please - I am not an IR hater at all. Try to understand again!!!! Another thing-the LM songs by IR are not among her best. That does not mean they are bad at all. Someone here said that LM never sounded so good before as in these. That's not true.
e-hari:
I have a small collection of SPB songs(Hindi) in which 'O Maria' and a few opthers have been mentioned as a Kalyanji Anandji songs-that's the reason for the confusion.Anyway I'll cross check that-thanks for letting me know anyway.
As far as Chitragupt's songs, the list is given on an earlier page of this forum. If you're really interested, I'll tell you the names of the films from which they are, else if you get a chance buy a cassette typically entitled 'Best of Chitragupt'. I'm sure it'll be a treat. Just about 2 days back, I heard a song of Lata and Manna Dey in Raag Kedar. Its a beautiful composition with brisk taans, and unexpected changes of 'sur' and 'saptak'.

SPB said "Ingi Iduppazhaga" was inspired from
SDB's song and NOT RDB's song. Please don't fool
the people with wrong facts. Infact I also saw
the program.

Pay close attention to what one North Indian singer has to say about this self-confessed, and I quote, "most original music director around"....oh! BTW, this North Indian singer goes by the name Lata Mangeshkar :-)
LV, you are so full of it - and you can't keep a promise either!

"Raag kEdar ..brisk taans ..unexpected changes of sur and saptak " hmm..must be very knowldgeable ..but thinks a singer (that too not classical performer) has contributed to music more than a composer (no less than IR)..
What a contradiction !!! Friends dont waste time on this two letter acronym..

Dear srinath:
I personally believe that the National SHOULD have gone to IR for Barathi, and NOT to Annu Mallick for Refugee. However the songs of Refugee are not bad either. The song 'Mere humsafar...' by Alka Yagnik is a treat. Its got really rich interludes and a great tabla piece. The other songs by Sonu Nigam and Alka are also good. They are rich lyrically as well as compositionally.
So if Lataji rang up Annu Mallick to congratulate him for that, there's nothing wrong about it at all.
However Annu Mallick has copied one song-he's improving!!!!-previously he used to copy whole albums. The song 'Jise tu na mila' is a direct lift from ARRs 'Satrangi Re'. Thats a pity, but otherwise the album is good - though not as good as IRs film at all.
But there has been one good song of AM that was sung by Lataji. I heard it on the radio a few weeks back. Its from a film that was not released.
Its a piece in Raag Khamaj, and in that song Lata's vocals have reached tremendous heights.
So though AM has been a bad composer, one should congratulate him when he's done something good.(AT LAST!!!!!!!!!!)
Also, I am NOT a fan of AM at all. He's been bad all this while, this is probably his ONLY good album, perhaps other than Border to some extent.
(That has one good song - 'Hame jabse Mohabbat ho gayee hai' - by Alka and Sonu). So dont accuse me of anything now at least!!
And besides, you still havent been able to name the songs I had asked you to. Anyway, your silence has spoken more clearly than your words.
But anyway, I will duly thank you and eden for giving me that list. I will definitely (and I have begun) listening to that. If you are not open-minded enough to listen to the songs I recommended, its fine-it makes no difference to me. Its you who'll miss something!! Thanx again anyway.
