IR family is a classic case of singers spoiling a song. Confession time?

'Pithamahan' and 'Manasinakkare' sweeps Tamil and Malayalam FF awards. HJ gets the Tamil MD for Kaakka kaakka, but it appears that IIR was the leading candidate in both T&M and hence was given best MD in Malayalam !
IIR still rules!

Raja,
I agree to your points. Yes I too felt it that way.
But when I listened to it carefully again I found what he meant by in them.
You have pointed out two occassions:
1) lyrics enhanced by music
2) performers spoiling music
Let us see what IR has said and meant in them.
This is contextual. Before talking about this he said that 'if we read thAevAram as such (i.e. even without music) it will be beautiful. But if u see cine songs, say, sundhari and nenjam maRappadhillai the music/tune (even though it is simple) has enhanced the lyrics. (That is the greatness of thAevAram. There is no need of music/tune for feeling the greatness, sweetness of thAevAram)'.
In the two examples he has taken:
...."sundhari" is a simple and good meaning lyric, whose goodness without music/tune would not be appreciated.
...."nenjam maRappadhillai" is a better lyric and still music/tune (a non-complex-yet-soulful tune) has to show the greatness of that lyric.
He implies that 'such is the greatness of good music/tune'.
With these two examples and the statement made by him prior to them it shows that thAevAram is such a great that it doesnt need any music.
Then why the hell he is into tuning it?
He feels that 'if for such a great poem/lyric if we tune(hopefully with good music, whatever be the form it is) shouldn't it be more appreciated?'.
Now will that be a risk free activity? He feels no. Even if the music is good there are chances that the performers (singers, instrumentalists etc.) might ruin it (if they are not in tune of mind with the soulfulness of the tune & lyrics). So there is a risk in it. That is what he is pointing out.
If you listen to him more carefully, when he starts "pAdupavar aennathAn kAeduththirundhAlum; musicians aennathAn kAeduththirundhAlum (he laughs). AnA avanga kAedukkArAngannu sollala, kAeduththirundhAlum (this time people laugh and clap and hence this statement fades) adhayum meeri...".
But there are two questions:
If there is a risk of performers could ruin the beauty of the song. So is the risk of composer could ruin the beauty of the pre-written lyrics.
So we have to wait and see whether IR does justice to the great thAevAram that too with a different form of music. Given his dedication and past performance I hope he would do due justice to the soul of thAevAram whose greatness he is aware off (better than I and many of us).
And let us once again hope "the lead singer" would not ruin the soul of the poem/lyric and music.

Ilayaraaja in Italy or France, Harris rules at Film Fare.
Entire Pithamagan got awards except Ilayaraaja.
He is the biggest joker in Tamil cinema.
Harris you poured sh^it all in his face.

Nagesh,
I want you understand that IIR was in contention in bith Malayalam and Tamil and since he already got it, this was thrown at the next best HJ. Mind your language. Dont play the spoiler role in public forums. Keep it in your house.

Typos corrected!
Nagesh,
I want you understand that IIR was in contention in both Malayalam and Tamil and since he already got it for 'Manasinakkare' in Malayalam, this was thrown at the next best HJ in Tamil as Pithamahan already grabbed every other award. Mind your language. Dont play the spoiler role in public forums. Keep it in your house.

Nice excuse.
Please don't try to spoil Filmfares reputation by saying they give awards to people who come next best.
Eat the fact that IIR was thrown out of Filmfare and more importantly Pithamagan to which his contribution was Minimum.
IIR's best "Ilam Katru" couldn't compete with Harris songs.
Harris rules. IR is a whining loser.

Nagesh, Nagesh.... If Isaignani is thrown out of the filmfare, then why the best MD award for "Manasinakkare".His contribution to Pithamagan is a well known fact. That cannot be written off.And we have to be more proud, that Isaignani won award for MD in Malayalam. If you get a chance you please watch Manasinakkare. Its another Poove Poochoodava in the context of music.I can probably challenge you anywhere , that Harris won't even come close to Isaignani. You can find Harris kind of music directors in every corner on Kollywood Streets. But we found isaignani after Thousand nine hundred and seventy five years.Avar namakku kidaitha Kalai Pokkisam.I won't ask u to praise him but atleast stop using abusive words against that genious. Its my humble request.

ARR is a Loafer
Harris is a copymonger
I am not worth it. I am joining the DineSHIT rally organized for all immature idiots like me..We are going to eat all IR and his fans S H I T forever.

Why IIR is in Italy?
He has no hope in TFM. He knows it, he knows he has only few fans who gather in newtfmpage to speak ill about others.
This is the real world, have a look.
Its shown in newtfmpage too.
Reason:
Virumaandi - Ilayaraja 54.2% Good 45.8% Bad (993 votes)
Look at newtfmpage rankings, Illayaraaja's very good album Virumandi gets 45% bad votes.
If Virumandi gets 45% negative score then
Konji Pesalama?
Filmfare knows this. so they gave the award to Harris, who has proven himself with a top selling album.

TFM votes are like Indian votes. All the smart people stay away from polling. I am sure none of the music savvy DFers even care to vote for the albums on the front page. This is the cause of the stupid scene on the front page (and in India).

Hi all,
I had been watching the the angelica website for any updates on ILAIYARAJA's live stage performance in Italy. And there was an e-mail provided for feedbacks/interactions/querries etc...So about a week back I had mailed to that e-mail asking about how the show went off...
I just recieved first hand reply from Mr.Massimo Simonini himself (artistic director of angelica) - the gentleman behind this laudable effort.
His response is re-pasted as below. (Osho, r u reading this :-)
regards, Vel

Hello Velramanan,
the concert went very well, after 30 years Ilaiyarraja came back on stage with a big mixed ensemble, and the audience (mixed with italian and indian comunity living in italy with some guest form others country....) was very warm and the show was around 3 hours time, spacing from old and new songs and indstrumental music with also music espeaccially written for this concert as the beautiful piece "Three in One".......
Ilaiyaraaja he explained with examples for the audience many things about music in the everyone life and this for a very sweet part of the concert......
Probably indian television will do sometihng about this event......
so i hope he will continuos to perform loive music!
best,
Massimo Simonini

"Dear Friends in the US team,
Vanakkam.
To you TIS owes a lot. When I decided to commit myself to this project I knew that funds will not easily come. However I had not imagined that it will be such a huge and odious task. Well after a long journey I feel the project is entering the threshold of hope. I must admit in sincerity that but for the US team we would not even be in a position to feel that we are almost crossing the threshold of hope.
The undying spirit of enthusiasm, dedication and resilience shown by Dr.Shankar Kumar is my own prayer. I will never be able to forget the innate concern of Mr.Nachimuthu Socrates about my own well being and reputation. God bless Ananth Govindan for his nobility and exemplary gestures of generosity. Sridhar Bala, whom I have never met was a gentle soul with utmost sincerity. Seetharam Sridhar was my first contact for this project in the US and I shall never forget that it was Seetharaman who was the first runner in this relay race.
Mr.Ilaiyaraaja is now in Hungary, shaping up his composition in consultation with the conductor. He will get back to Chennai on June 23. The studio is being booked for recording from July 04- July 12. The voice mixing will take place in Bombay and Chennai between July 15 till July 24. There after we have to do the mixing, preferably by an engineer with the reputation of a Grammy Award.Though we have set the time frame and even booked the studios we are will short of around $125000. Let us all make a final concerted effort to gather the generosity and good will of as many of our friends and well wishers as possible to ensure that the project does not get stuck at the final stages.
I look forward to your support more than any other time. God bless,
jegath"
