IR gave a hit 'Nilaave Vaa'by SPB which sounded similar to 'Nilavukku Yaar Kaaval' sung by PBSrinivas for MSV-TKR.
'Pudhu Maapilaikku Rappapparee' was nothing but a second melody of MSVs 'Aadavaralaam Aadavaralam' sung by LR Eswari (as IR himself said it is a fusion of the above and Naan Paarthathile aval oruthiyaithan).
'Maanguyile Poonguyile' of IR had the same phrasings and beats as 'Maatukaravela un maata konjam pathukada' of KVMahadevan sung by Sirkazhi.
'Nirpahtuvey Nadapaduvey' of Bharathi by IR has an opening violins similar longs notes as in Poombuhars 'Kaaviri Penney vazhga' and the song chordings sound this song to be a second tuning from MSVs 'Athikkai kai kai Aalangai vennilavey'.
If you start singing 'Nilavu Parthen Nilavu Parthen', you will land up and complete with Devas 'Aval varuvaala'.
Gone are the days when one could hum the BGM melody and take the song continuously and sing it. That is why even the present day Lightmusic orchestras are comfortable playing old songs with a listening ear at ease and satisfy the public.
It is common for everybody to follow a similar grammar. With a Wren and Martin of tfm MSV, this is very common and you cannot avoid it.
We are proud that people like Anand Milind copy from our AR Rahman, who has activated the film music copyright forum with Naushadji, since he is confident of his originality.
It is unfair to blame Deva, ARR and SA Rajkumar alone and make others good samaritans.

Guru,
this song first composed in tamil (mooranm pirai - poongkaatru pudhithanathu) went to hindi (Sadma - Ye zindagi) again back to tamil (thambikku entha ooru - En Vaazhvile)

PANDALILEY THONGUGURA PUDALANGAIKKU BY ILAYARAJA in VEERA, is nothing but a repeat of G RAMANATHANS BGM IN THE FILM RAJA DESINGU, where there is a comedy song for KA Thangavelu.
The opening BGM of Nirpathuve in BHARATHI is nothing but violin opening BGM of the TMS song Kaaviri Penne Vaazhga. The full song, I tell you is totally a second melody made from the chordings of Athikkai kai kai composed by viswanathan Ramamurthy as posted in one of the forums.

Music Director Adityan claims in Jaya Tv interview that he was the first to include a goats bleep as BGM bit in his song "Oyila Paadum Paatile". It has been already done by Viswanathan Ramamurthy in the LREswaris song "Aatukkutti Aattukkutti Mamava Paaru" in Bagappirvinai movie.

This is about a hindi film copy (Dil hai ke manta nahin). Its a 1:1 copy from "It Happened One Night", I watched it yesterday on AMC (Clark Gable, Claudette?, 1934, won 5 Oscars). Clark has given an excellent performance.
When I first watched DHKMN, I thought the director had some originality. When i heard it was a copy, i thought here goes another Indian film. When I saw the film itself, my god, they have aped every shot of the movie (incl. when Clark Gable chuckles or lifts his coat etc), giving creativity a chance only in needless fights for AmirKhan and stupid songs.

Fellas,
Well, We're are talking about IR, ARR, MSV and KBM. Even SPB on his venture with music direction in "Sigaram" has been heavily inspired in his song "Vannam konda vennilave" by a superb Lata rendition in the movie Khamoshi(old), the song being "Humne jo dekha hai un aankhon ki" (Hemant Kumar is the MD). The tune is almost a ditto let alone the orchestration. Alas! even SPB has dissapointed me.

Again SPB's song (I dont remember the lyrics) in "Azhiyatha kolangal" is a simple lift of Lata's classic "Naa jiya lage na" in Anand (Salil choudhary)

"Dheem thananA" from Rhythm is a recycle of "anbendra mazhayilE" from 'minsArakkanavu' which itself is a recycle of "tErE dwAr khadA ek jOgi", sung and composed by Hemant Kumar in 'Nagin'. The above mentioned are not even clever recycles, they stick out like a sore thumb.

Another song which could be the 'inspiration' for 'Dheem thananA', 'thEn aruvuyil nanaintha.....' by IR (movie ??).

Harris Jeyaraj's Vaseekara song's flute prelude sounds like an improvisation of a Christmas Carol "We Three Kings of Orient are.." If it is just the first 4 bars, I would'nt have pointed it out here. but the 5th bar moves to its related major (starting is minor) where I can easily spot that the flute prelude is derived from "We three kings" song.. :)

"Vandemataram, Vandematarm, sujala, subala" Madras - A plays this patriotic song every morning at 5:30 am. Even Doordarshan starts with this song. Guess what, the starting music of this song is the inspiration(copied)for ARR's "Kandukondain Kandukodain kathal mugam Kandukondain" song.

The humming piece in "Kadhalikkum pennin kaila" song from Kadhalan(ARR) is almost the same as the flute piece in the prelude of IR's "Hattiri ado maathiri" from the Telugu movie Surya IPS.
The prelude of the latter song is more familiar to the Tamizh audience as the instrumental piece that appeared in the Guna cassette which was secretly recorded in the studio when Kamal and IR were discussing the tunes.

sriram lakshman
to all forum members, i would like to say one
thing to u don't just say wrong thing without
having any proper music knowledge, if u r just
like arr has copied songs u said, that cannot
be acceptable, ARR's "Kandukondain Kandukodain kathal mugam Kandukondain" song is no were related to what u mr. bhagavathar said, i am proud to say that our tamil musician has broken
the big ego of north indian musician and celebrities, it is true, this fellows will never allow our southindians to enter into their industry, but with few exceptions like sridevi, hemamalini in acting, but arr entered into their court and now he stars, why can't other tamil md can't due it, don't ever say they does'nt composed any hindi songs, they did and they failed, no hollywood md would consider a indian to compose his film without having confidence, weber lloyd for his film made arr to compose.
so please don't make this media to degrade others, who is growing, to my knowledge arr is prodigious musician, old guys like subudu, and his co's has complained ir, during his entry, than they accept him the best, same is going to happen in arr case.
muduncha parata kathukolungal,

kandan,
i think you jumped into conclusions just by seeing this page of the entire thread. Generally people who post here have atleast some music knowledge and are widely listened (it is in my experience and in my opinion). if you traverse through the entire thread you might happen to see postings of copies by all MDs including MSV, IR, ARR's compositions.
This they did not do it for boasting or undermining their favourite or non-favourite MDs. This thread is not a M&B of nowadays-TFM-page i.e. IR v/s ARR. So please dont allow it to do so. Even if you find such things, just forget it, as most of the postings here are very helpful in knowing the source of many compositions in TFM.
But still, Bhagavathar, can you elaborate on how ARR is inspired from the Bankim Chandra Chatterjee's tune of Vande Mataram.
