  For some reason, no one has mentioned another good song of IR- 'Odam OnRu' from 'Thirupurasundari'- as a fisherman's song it has conveyed the right emotion it wanted to convey.
  I feel that in film music, one should not approach a song or a singer out of context; if a song conveys the emotion it has to, then it is a success. I think in that respect, IR's contribution to TFM is beyond comparison till date.

  don't you hear IR's thendral vanthu theendum pothu..from the film avatharam,really his voice is mellifellous and unique comparing to the so called music directors.

  I've chastised IR often for ruining some great melodies, but once in awhile he picks a song that he was born to sing. I recently discovered one such gem. The song is "Karatoaram Moongilkaadu" from "Magudi", great tune, lyrics, singing. An all round winner that just takes you down home amidst the rural landscape. If you haven't heard it, you really should.

  have you people heard "sethu"? in it raja sings some great songs. "vaarthai" and "enge sellum". great pathos in both.

  Raja sung lot of songs in his own way...
  somebodies opposed why he sings in good tunes..instead he can use some good singers...
  
  As per my point of view the voice might be a huge advantage for the outstanding songs... still Raagam is 70% for a successfull song..he has raagam and shruthi more than 50% than others...
